Story
Lola's birthday is April 2, 2025. I have a special needs child. My father got her the puppy when pup was only 6 weeks old (he didnt know any better). At first it was a good situation but child has now become aggressive towards Lola. The pup is now triggering for child and I have caught her being violent to the puppy several times, even when Im standing right there asking her to put Lola down or to leave her alone 😔 I would love to rehome her rather than surrendering her to a shelter. She's a cute lil puppy, very playful, loves to be held/cuddled. This just isn't a good situation for pup or child. I paid for the new puppy package at petco and she's up to date on all her shots. I never took her back to get chipped when I realized I couldnt keep her but I did pay for it so new family could probably take her to get chipped. (Im honestly not sure how that works)

Story
Name: Ross Age: 5 years Breed: Chihuahua Size: 13 lbs Adoption Application: https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 Contact: transport@hssm.org Meet Ross. Ross was found as a stray with another older Chihuahua. They were abandoned, left out in the freezing cold in a black wire crate. Thankfully they were noticed by a kindhearted individual who brought them to our shelter clinic so they could get proper vetting and be inside from the bitter cold weather. Unsure and a little scared, in typical Chihuahua fashion they felt like they had to protect themselves, but once they realized we were there to help them they are doing better. Ross would do best in a home where the people would be understanding and give him the time to settle in and warm up to them. He deserves a soft place to rest and comfort to live out the rest of his days, safe and sound. Ross is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and will be neutered upon adoption. Ross's $250 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccines, microchip AND transport fee to a location near you. We currently have transportation to CT, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, GA, and TN. Please email transport@hssm.org for more information on transports! --> If you are interested in adopting Ross please fill out our online application here: (https://forms.gle/nuKXoMu6gjS5DhFm8 - Dog). A staff member will reach out if your application is approved to discuss the adoption process. No fenced in yard required, and YES - we adopt to families with children! The adoption will not be final until the adoption contract is discussed and signed. Transports are arranged for specific dates, typically within 1-3 weeks of approving your application. Adopters will meet at a designated meeting spot to pick up their new companions. For further information, please first fill out the application referenced above. **Due to import regulations we are not able to adopt to MA or RI residents at this time.

Story
Twinkle’s story is as heartbreaking as it is inspiring. She came to us after someone claimed to have “found” her wrapped in a soiled diaper. But after a little digging, we discovered the truth—it was actually her owner who had abandoned her under false pretenses. Even more devastating, she had posted online about Twinkle’s injury but waited too long to get her proper care. By the time she came into our care, it was too late for surgery. Despite that neglect, Twinkle has held onto her spirit. She has hind leg paresis, meaning she has partial mobility—not full paralysis. And while surgery was no longer an option, she’s made incredible strides through supplements and alternative therapies like acupuncture, electromagnetic treatment, massage, and physical therapy. She’s showing steady, meaningful progress. She does need her bladder and bowels expressed 3–4 times a day, but she’s a total champ about it—cooperative, patient, and even helps by posturing. The process takes just a couple of minutes. ? More about Twinkle: • Resilient, loving, and full of personality • Great eater and enjoys all the things mobile dogs do • Gets along well with other respectful animals • Best with older, calm kids (10+) • No other health concerns Twinkle is about 5-6 years old, She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases. Twinkle needs a special adopter—someone experienced or willing to learn about special needs care, with the time and dedication to help her thrive. She’s been let down before, but she hasn’t let it define her. She’s ready to love and be loved in a home that truly sees her. If you’re that kind of person, Twinkle is ready to be your shining light.
