Story
Polar Bear & Serious Black are Bestest Friends! (bonded) Polar Bear is a 1 yr male neutered Chihuahua mix (possibly with Italian Greyhound). He has legs for days and runs like a gazelle. He is able to leap small buildings and soar like a bird. Well, not really, but he is very good at jumping onto furniture and trying to get on tables and countertops. He’s very food motivated. Polar Bear is part of a hoarding situation group so there are a few things you need to know about him. He needs work on his social skill with people but he’s coming along really nicely. He needs a patient adopter. He likes/needs the company of another dog. He’s always been surrounded by lots of other dogs so he gets a little anxious when alone. We are working on crate training him. He will bark in his crate initially but does settle down. Apartment living is probably not ideal as his barking may annoy your neighbors. He is not housebroken but he’s getting much better. Previously he was never allowed outside so he had no choice but to use the bathroom inside. He LOVES running around the yard and frequently gets the zoomies. Serious Black is 3 years old. He’s far from serious. He is very timid initially, but if you kneel, he will crawl over to you then basically crawl up your body for you to hug him. Once he gets to know you, he’s obnoxiously trying to get you to pick him up and love on him. He screams if he’s crated by himself. He only cries a little if he’s in a crate with one of the other dogs he came in with. Definitely no apartment living for him due to this. He has a bit of separation anxiety so he needs another dog. He is working on housetraining and leash walking. His cuteness and sweetness knows no bounds. These little guys have so much potential with the right adopter. Story
Karen is a 3 yr old female spayed Chihuahua mix. She does have a Cherry Eye in her right eye but it does not cause her any issues at this time. She is extremely timid and nervous around new people and takes time to warm up. She needs someone that will go slow with her and help her build up her confidence Karen was part of a hoarding situation group so there are a few things you need to know about her. Karen has limited social skills but we have been working with her to build confidence. She needs a patient adopter that will show her lots of love to help her adapt and blossom into the wonderful girl we know she is. She likes/needs the company of another dog. She’s always been surrounded by lots of other dogs so she gets a little anxious when alone. She is crate trained but will have the occasional accident in the crate if left in for too long as most dogs will do. She will bark in her crate initially but does settle down. Apartment living is probably not ideal for her. She will walk on a leash for her person but will not let strangers walk her. She is housetrained but will have occasional accidents but tries to make it outside. With her nervous nature there may be accidents in the beginning until she trusts her new person and learns their routine. Story
We would like to debut Casper! He is as sweet as can be! When you meet him you can not tell that he is blind or deaf! He is the most lovable guy! He learns his surroundings quickly. He is housetrained but occasionally might have an accident if he can’t get outside fast enough after being let out of his crate due to sometimes he gets turned around because he’s so excited and runs in the wrong direction. His foster makes sure he is following her so he doesn't get turned around in his excitement. He does need to be crated when left alone. He would love to live in a house only, because he doesn’t really have an “inside” voice. Since he is deaf he doesn’t realize how loud he really is and sounds like a combination between an elephant and a pterodactyl with a little bit of a screech owl thrown in. 🤣 Please contact us if you are interested in giving this sweet boy a chance at a fulfilling and happy life! Story
Mama is a very sweet 9 yr old female spayed ChiWeenie. She originally came into our rescue in 2015 as a 1 yr old with a single puppy. Her name at that time was Estrella. She was adopted in 2016 along with her puppy but was unfortunately returned to us a few months ago. We won’t go into details on the circumstances of her return. As with all of our dogs we want them back at any point if they cannot stay with their adopter for any reason. We welcomed her back with open arms. Here are some details about sweet Mama (Estrella). She has a gimpy left front leg from a fracture that was never treated properly before we got her the first time. The elbow is fused so she cannot bend it. We took X-rays recently that can be sent to an adopters veterinarian for evaluation. She was a chunky 7 lbs when we got her back, which wasn’t helping her limp. She has been on a diet since she was returned. She is now a svelte 5 lbs and is getting around better with the extra weight gone. She has a tendency to resource guard her person from other dogs. She corrects very well and no longer does it in her current foster home. She knows it’s not allowed and doesn’t attempt it any more. She is indifferent to other dogs but will share dog beds with them. We think she would secretly prefer to be an only dog so she can have her person to herself. She is pee pad trained but sometimes has accidents. She will go outside on a leash to use the bathroom. She doesn’t like long walks due to her gimpy front leg. She is crate trained but prefers to be in the same room with her person. She doesn’t like to be picked up without notice. She will snap if picked up too quickly. We think this might be due to the previous injury to her left elbow and her anticipating pain. If you let her know you are going to pick her up she allows it. Mama is ready for a new home with someone that won’t let her down this time. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out and submit our application Our Adoption Application Failure to answer ALL questions will delay processing of your application.

Story
Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. WE NEED FOSTER HELP!   The white boy is very shy and the black and tan is a female and the “protector” of her male friend.  Help us give them a short term place to stay while we look for a permanent and forever loving home!  Can you help for a few weeks?  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  They can be fostered in Nashville, TN or even in the New England area.  We transport weekly and just need someone to show them kindness, love and stability.  They will be ever so grateful!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 27, 2024, 10:00 pm

Story
This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 27, 2024, 10:00 pm
