Story
Meet Lemon! 🍋🐾Lemon is a 5-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua mix—possibly with some Dachshund—who came to us with his siblings after their owner was no longer able to care for them. Based on ages, we believe Lemon is the sibling of Blueberry, Blackberry and Grape, and likely the son of Lime. We were told Chihuahua, but judging by their looks, we suspect a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, though we can’t make any guarantees on breed.Lemon is a fun balance of playful and relaxed. While he’s fully grown, he’s still young enough to be a little wiggly, enjoy playtime, and go for walks—but he also truly appreciates quieter moments like snuggling on the couch or keeping your lap warm. He’s a great match for someone who wants a companion with a bit of pep and plenty of cuddle time. These dogs have lived with other dogs their whole lives so they will likely warm up faster to their new surroundings with another dog or just need more adjustment time in a new home without another dog. Lemon has received his vaccines, is flea & tick treated, tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, and Anaplasma, and is positive for Ehrlichia, for which he is currently being treated (it is not contagious). He is on heartworm prevention and will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. We’re unsure how Lemon feels about cats. He has lived with other dogs, though they were all small and related to him, so proper introductions will be important with new canine companions. He did not previously live with children, so if there are kids in the home, we ask that they come meet him. Lemon has lived in a home before and is likely at least somewhat house-trained.If you’re looking for a sweet little guy who can play when it’s time and cuddle when it’s not, Lemon may be just the one for you. 💙🐾Lemon's adoption fee is $250.You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption.

Story
Meet Lime! 🍋🐶Lime is a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix—possibly with a little Dachshund sprinkled in—who came to us with his siblings after their owner was no longer able to care for them. Lime is the oldest of the group, and while we don’t know for sure, he may even be the father of the others. We were told Chihuahua, but based on appearances we suspect Chihuahua/Dachshund; however, we can’t make any promises on breed. This sweet, middle-aged gentleman still has plenty of love to give, just without all the wild puppy energy. He enjoys going for walks, but he also truly appreciates the quieter moments—snuggling on the couch, keeping your lap warm, and simply enjoying your company. He’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a calmer, affectionate friend.Lime has received his vaccines, is flea & tick treated, tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia, and is currently on heartworm prevention. He will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.Lime has lived with other dogs, though they were all small and related to him, so proper introductions will be important with new canine friends. We’re unsure how he feels about cats. He did not previously live with children, so if there are kids in the home, we ask that they come meet him. Lime has lived in a home before and is likely at least somewhat house-trained.If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who loves both walks and couch time, Lime may be your perfect match. 💛🐾Lime's adoption fee is $250. Story
Jellybean is a 5-month-old Pomeranian/Husky mix… with maybe a little retriever tossed in for good measure! Her mom, Lolly Pop, is a 37-lb Husky/Pomeranian mix, and dad? Well… that part remains a mystery 😉Her siblings, Reese Cup and Tootsie Roll, inherited mom’s extra floof, but Jellybean took a different route—she’s less fluffy but just as sweet 🍬💖.Jellybean currently weighs 17 lbs at 5 months old, and we estimate she’ll be 35 lbs or more when fully grown, though exact size is never guaranteed. The upside of her lighter coat? Minimal grooming needs—more time for cuddles and adventures, less time brushing! 🐶✨Sweet, lovable, and perfectly named, Jellybean is ready to melt right into her future family’s heart 💕🐾Jellybean's adoption fee is $300. Jellybean is vaccinated, flea & tick treated, on heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before we close to ensure we have time to do the adoption.
