This lovely little girl came to DASH with her friend Mini Claus when they were abandoned in a burnt down drug house. Luckily some kind neighbors were feeding them, but it was no place for small girls to be. So they made their way to us where they will never know that kind of life again. Ellie is a very sweet, loving girl, who is pretty laid back. She enjoys napping in a big comfy dog bed, and watching all the other doggie antics in her current foster home. She is still a little shy upon meeting new people, but warms up quickly once she knows you are there to love her. She is working on her potty training, crate training and walking on a leash, so her new family will need to continue helping her on that journey. She loves other dogs, is fine around cats, but has not been kid tested. She would be great for a senior or family alike and is ready to find her forever home. This small little chi girl came to DASH with several other small dogs when their owner went into a nursing home and could no longer care for them. She is a very sweet, little girl, but is a little shy upon meeting new people, but warms up very quickly, once she knows you. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom and dad and enjoys playing with the other dogs in the house. She is working on her crate training, potty training and leash training as she has never known any of those things in her previous home. She is ok with cats, but no small kids for this girl. This sweet boy came to DASH with several other small dogs who had been living outside. No place for a small dog like Shaggy. He is currently in our DASH Prison Training Program where his handler has said he loves all people and has never met a stranger, he loves all the other female dogs, but is a little selective with male dogs. He is crate trained, potty trained in the prison setting, and walks well on a leash. He is very sociable and likes a good snuggle session. He is a little bit of a picky eater and likes to have his dry kibble softened with a bit of water before he'll eat it! This boy would be great for a senior looking for a moderately active boy or a family who wants to have a young dog who has already gone through the puppy phase and is ready to be a great family addition for years to come. This bonded pair of sisters came to DASH from southern Ohio when their elderly owner had to go into nursing care and could not take them with them. They are truly the sweetest, most loving dogs ever! They just want to be with you and give you kisses all the time. Jasmine is the more outgoing of the 2, but Lady Gray is never far away and once she sees Jasmine getting the attention, she will move her way right in so she isn't left out! They are crate trained, pee pad trained (working on going outside to potty on a schedule) and working on their leash manners in their current foster home. They do get along with the other small dogs in their foster home, but truly would be perfectly content to be someone's only 2 since they get along with each other perfectly. They have not been kid or cat tested. If you are ready for double the loving, then these 2 are ready for you too! Meet Lemon! 🍋🐾Lemon is a 5-year-old, 11-pound Chihuahua mix—possibly with some Dachshund—who came to us with his siblings after their owner was no longer able to care for them. Based on ages, we believe Lemon is the sibling of Blueberry, Blackberry and Grape, and likely the son of Lime. We were told Chihuahua, but judging by their looks, we suspect a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, though we can’t make any guarantees on breed.Lemon is a fun balance of playful and relaxed. While he’s fully grown, he’s still young enough to be a little wiggly, enjoy playtime, and go for walks—but he also truly appreciates quieter moments like snuggling on the couch or keeping your lap warm. He’s a great match for someone who wants a companion with a bit of pep and plenty of cuddle time.These dogs have lived with other dogs their whole lives so they will likely warm up faster to their new surroundings with another dog or just need more adjustment time in a new home without another dog. Lemon has received his vaccines, is flea & tick treated, tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme, and Anaplasma, and is positive for Ehrlichia, for which he is currently being treated (it is not contagious). He is on heartworm prevention and will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.We’re unsure how Lemon feels about cats. He has lived with other dogs, though they were all small and related to him, so proper introductions will be important with new canine companions. He did not previously live with children, so if there are kids in the home, we ask that they come meet him. Lemon has lived in a home before and is likely at least somewhat house-trained.If you’re looking for a sweet little guy who can play when it’s time and cuddle when it’s not, Lemon may be just the one for you. 💙🐾Lemon's adoption fee is $250.You can apply on our website www.highlandhumanesociety.org OR stop into the shelter 12- 5 pm Monday through Friday or 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday to meet who is available at that time. Lime is the oldest of the group, and while we don’t know for sure, he may even be the father of the others. We were told Chihuahua, but based on appearances we suspect Chihuahua/Dachshund; however, we can’t make any promises on breed.This sweet, middle-aged gentleman still has plenty of love to give, just without all the wild puppy energy.
