Dreamer came to DASH with several other small dogs when their owner went into a nursing home and was unable to care for them. Dreamer is certainly a love bug. She has never met a stranger, and wants all the pets she can get. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom and dad as well. This girl is working on her crate training, walking on a leash and potty training in her foster home as well and is doing great. She is good with other dogs of all sizes, is ok with cats in the current foster home, but has not been kid tested. She would be a perfect companion for a senior looking or family looking for that special dog to call their own. This lovely little girl came to DASH with her friend Mini Claus when they were abandoned in a burnt down drug house. Luckily some kind neighbors were feeding them, but it was no place for small girls to be. So they made their way to us where they will never know that kind of life again. Ellie is a very sweet, loving girl, who is pretty laid back. She enjoys napping in a big comfy dog bed, and watching all the other doggie antics in her current foster home. She is still a little shy upon meeting new people, but warms up quickly once she knows you are there to love her. She is working on her potty training, crate training and walking on a leash, so her new family will need to continue helping her on that journey. She loves other dogs, is fine around cats, but has not been kid tested. She would be great for a senior or family alike and is ready to find her forever home. This small little chi girl came to DASH with several other small dogs when their owner went into a nursing home and could no longer care for them. She is a very sweet, little girl, but is a little shy upon meeting new people, but warms up very quickly, once she knows you. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom and dad and enjoys playing with the other dogs in the house. She is working on her crate training, potty training and leash training as she has never known any of those things in her previous home. She is ok with cats, but no small kids for this girl. This tiny chihuahua boy came to DASH when his person realized he needed a home and not to be living tied to a car bumper in a homeless camp. Do not let his size fool you, he has a larger than life personality and shows it to his current foster mom on the daily. He is very sweet and loves being in your lap or snuggled under a blanket. He does sleep under the covers with his foster mom every night. Since he has lived outside for some time, he is working on his potty training (doing well with both pee pads and going outside on a schedule), and his leash manners. He is not crate trained in his foster home and is not destructive. While he loves being in a lap, he is not a big fan of being carted around, he'd rather you give him a little help up and let him find his spot. He will also growl and show you his teeth at times, but not in any aggressive way (we think this was most likely his defense mechanism while living outside due to his small size), and his foster mom is working with him to let him know pets and love are ok and not scary. He gets along with the other small dogs in his foster home as long as they respect his space, but has not been kid or cat tested. This boy just needs a place to call his and to know he will always be inside for the rest of his life. This bonded pair of sisters came to DASH from southern Ohio when their elderly owner had to go into nursing care and could not take them with them. They are truly the sweetest, most loving dogs ever! They just want to be with you and give you kisses all the time. Jasmine is the more outgoing of the 2, but Lady Gray is never far away and once she sees Jasmine getting the attention, she will move her way right in so she isn't left out! They are crate trained, pee pad trained (working on going outside to potty on a schedule) and working on their leash manners in their current foster home. They do get along with the other small dogs in their foster home, but truly would be perfectly content to be someone's only 2 since they get along with each other perfectly. They have not been kid or cat tested. If you are ready for double the loving, then these 2 are ready for you too! This special needs boy came to DASH after he was left outside with another dog, who actually froze to death before we could get them to us. He is a very small Tri-Pod, he is missing his left front leg, but he does get around ok. The rescue did order him a wheelchair to help him on those days where he seems to be in some pain, so he will need to continue learning how to use it, even if it isn't needed every day. Our vet believes he had a very rough life before coming into our care and will need to be on long term pain medication, but it is relatively inexpensive so don't let that deter you from bringing this sweet boy into your home. He is great with other dogs with calmer energy. High energy is not his thing. He really just wants to be in a lap getting all the attention he can and will use pee pads inside, as he is not really a fan of being outside for any reason and we can't blame him! He has not been kid tested, but mostly just ignores the resident cats in his current foster home. He would be great for someone looking for their laid back companion to curl up with and read a good book or watch a movie!
