Story
Alex was born around July 1, 2024 and weighs about 13 pounds. Alex is adorable with his pointy ears and fluffy curled tail! Alex hitched a ride to the rescue with a staff member who brings her dogs to work with her, and although he was a little surprised to find himself in a car with three strange giant dogs and a strange human, he was a wonderful passenger. Alex lived with children in his previous life, and we are told he is excellent with children, 'as long as they are not hurting him'. Alex will follow you around the yard doing chores and forms strong bonds with his humans once you give him a bit of time to adjust as he is shy at first. He walks fine on leash. He is the type that will make sure you never go to the bathroom alone again! UPDATE FROM HIS FOSTER PARENTS: If you are looking for a fun-loving young canine companion you've found him! He is as fun as a puppy without all the training! Alex is adorable, fun and loves to snuggle! He is a beautiful red color, has a tail curled into a circle, and an adorable face like a small fox. Alex is housebroken (we need to work on a cue for him to use with us), walks well on leash, sits for treats and comes when called. Alex does great with our dog and loves walking with him (when both are on leads) at the park. He doesn't even mind the snow and comes with two coats we've purchased for him. He can entertain himself with toys and loves to play with us, often fetching toys and bringing them back. Afterwards, he loves to curl up in his bed and/or cuddle with one of us. Alex sleeps in a crate in our bedroom without a fuss. He's also a great traveling companion, sitting calmly in the back seat of the car. He barks when people come to the door, then settles down quickly. He can be initially cautious about new people. Alex would probably love a fenced yard where he could explore on his own and play with another fun dog. Alex comes with his winter coats, toys, chewing bones, a crate with bed, a harness along with items provided by Joyful Rescues (collar, medical history, microchipping, vaccinations and he's neutered. He has become very attached to his foster parents (he jumps for joy, literally, when we return) and we love him in return. However, we retired and after our very elderly Cocker passes we would like to travel without leaving our pet/family member behind. If you'd like to meet Alex please do fill out the on-line application at Joyful Rescues and he is being fostered in the Webster area. We would love to meet you and have you meet Alex!
