Story
Roscoe was born around August 27, 2019 and weighs about 20 pounds.  Roscoe gets along with other dogs and cats and has been around children as young as seven without any issues. Roscoe rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. Roscoe has an incredible long brindle coat that, with regular care, will be stunningly beautiful.  He came to us from an unfortunate environment with a flea infestation allergy and since it went untreated so long, he also had a secondary skin bacterial problem which went untreated so long he had some 'alligator' skin doing on in places, all of which has healed beautifully!  Roscoe needed a round of antibiotic and we've continued a bi-weekly bath (which he is wonderful about) with shampoos specifically for itch relief  and anti-inflammatory response which we will send with you if you remind us.  We do leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes and then rinse and we have used a calming conditioner too.  Perhaps, there will come a time in his future when so many shampoos are not necessary, but for us it's a small chore to continue his health and healing.  Although our steps were not expensive, in our opinion, we would like him to go to a new home that won't mind some vet bills just in case he has a flare up again due to stress, etc.  Now back to his personality - it's big!  He is the ultimate lap and snuggle buddy and when I sit at the end of the day I try to find a soft or shiny blankie for my lap and he jumps up, on me, rolls around for a few minutes wagging and smiling (I swear) and then settles in for a nap.  Although I just adore this little guy he needs someone that is available to him more than I am.  He is not a barker.  I'm trying to think of something negative to say about him and am struggling, but I'll keep thinking about it until I hear from some lucky person out there!  Oh, need to mention that he has very sensitive feelings, He gets hurts/worried if he thinks he did something wrong or someone is angry at him.  So, his ideal home will have a soft, friendly, aura. Story
Rita was born about January 17, 2016 and weighs about 8 lbs.  She may be little, but her love is mighty and we love her mighty back!  She is adorable and just as sweet as she could possibly be!  None of that nippy Chihuahua behavior with this girl.  She is wonderful with all sizes of dogs here, she is good with cats and we don't have an of those pesky test kids ( ;  here, but she should be fine with them too although the gentler the better.  As with most of these tiny dogs house training especially when it is single digits is a challenge and it will just be easier for everyone if floor potty pads are kept available.  She was fine on her two hour car ride here from Rochester where she ended up alone with her 'brother' on the street and taken into the city shelter.  Her brother had a microchip registered to an elderly woman who said she gave them away to someone she could not recall awhile back and she was unable to take them back at this time.  That is quite the story and we are so honored to be the ones able to make a good decision for their lives going forward.   Rita's vet appointment at Encompass went pretty well and it's a good thing Rita came to us and then went to the vet quickly as she had fluid in her uterus (so common for unspayed elderly females) that after a time could have turned into infection (pyometra) that is deadly if not addressed quickly.  Now that she is spayed there is nothing more to worry about for this condition.  They did make note that she has normal aging nuclear sclerosis/clouding of her eyes and what RAS (Rochester Animal Services) thought could be mammary tumors turned out to be 'normal fat deposits around caudal mammary glands, no tumors appreciated by palpation'.  YAY!!  While she was under being spayed the veterinary staff did some dental scraping of tarter and pulled several small teeth that were loose.  Rita doesn't mind having her teeth brushed and it would be wonderful to do a few times a week going forward.  Her senior blood panel was unremarkable.  Another YAY!!     Foster Mom Update:  Rita has been in our home for about two weeks. She definitely is as sweet as can be! She loves to sit and snuggle with me all day and night. In typical chi fashion, she will burrow under the blanket right next to me. She is very quiet. I have not heard her bark once. She is very good with the other dogs in the house and plays with another one here about her size. When she is done, she hops onto the couch for a nap. We are working on housetraining, and she is getting the hang of the potty pads. Rita will make a sweet, snuggly, loving addition to your home. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $400.00. Story
He needs someone who can spend more time than I have available. I’m going to school full time while also being a full time solo mom. He came to me from someone who supposedly had him pad trained but he never was consistent, and I tried to train him outside but he refuses to go outside here(busy street constant traffic scares him). He absolutely hates being home alone but has to be in a crate because he freaks out and scratches door ways. He also hates the crate he barks the whole time I’m gone. He just isn’t happy and I don’t have the knowledge or skills to deal with the separation anxiety or house training issues. He’s a good dog otherwise. I just can’t have him peeing and pooping wherever with a toddler. He needs way more time than I can give him and he deserves someone who can maybe be with him all day training and caring for him. He would do better with someone who needs a companion but also has patience and knowledge on training and separation anxiety issues.
