Story
Nilla's story started just eight miles from the Mexico border, where this tiny senior Chihuahua was found wandering the streets as a stray with another Chihuahua. The pair proved surprisingly good at avoiding capture, and it took animal control a couple of weeks to finally get them safely off the streets. For a little white senior lady, Nilla apparently had some serious survival skills!Thankfully, those days are behind her.Nilla is now safe, and we're getting to know the sweet girl underneath all that street-smart determination. So far, she's made an excellent first impression. She's very sweet, good with other dogs, and a big fan of belly rubs. We may still be learning the finer details of her personality, but Nilla has already made it clear that affection is absolutely welcome. The other Chihuahua she was found with has already been adopted, and now we're hoping it's Nilla's turn to catch someone's eye.We don't know what Nilla's life looked like before she was found or how she ended up wandering so close to the border. That's the frustrating thing about stray dogs: sometimes their first chapters stay a mystery. But Nilla doesn't need us to know where she's been to figure out where she belongs next.At this stage of life, we'd like her biggest adventures to involve choosing the best spot on the couch, supervising whatever you're eating, finding the warmest blanket in the house, and rolling over to remind you that you've been neglecting your belly-rub responsibilities.Nilla survived the streets. Now we'd really like to see her get spoiled.Nilla is currently being fostered in Bryan, Texas, but don't let distance stop you. We offer nationwide transport to the nearest major city for an additional $250, making it easy for the right family to welcome her home, no matter where you live.Nationwide transport available, thanks to our Flight Transport partners with SWATT Transport and that flies in cabin with Southwest AirlinesDog adoptions are $250, and if you need nationwide transport, it's an extra $250 for the flight and all materials needed.

Story
Rose has been showing us what a little time, patience, and security can do!When she first arrived, Rose could be a bit grumpy when she felt overwhelmed or when other dogs pushed her boundaries. As she's settled into her foster home, though, she has calmed down tremendously. She's even doing beautifully around mealtimes now and no longer needs to be separated in her crate while the other dogs eat. That's a pretty big accomplishment for a girl who once felt like she needed to keep her guard up.Rose is house trained, gets along with people and other dogs, and would also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog. She's a little shadow who loves curling up in your lap or settling at your feet. At bedtime, she happily snoozes in her dog bed tucked underneath her foster's bed.She does bark at cats, so feline roommates may not be her favorite life choice.Rose can still be sensitive about being pushed, grabbed, or handled when she doesn't want to be. If she feels cornered or overwhelmed, she may give a warning nip, so she's looking for a home where her boundaries will be respected. Because of that, we think she'll be happiest with adults or older, dog-savvy kids rather than little ones.Rose isn't the same worried girl she was when she first arrived. The safer she feels, the more that grumpiness melts away and the sweet, affectionate little companion underneath gets to shine. She's ready for someone to give her that same feeling of security for good.Rose is currently being fostered in Bryan, Texas, but don't let distance stop you! Nationwide transport to the nearest major city is available for $250.Nationwide transport available, thanks to our Flight Transport partners with SWATT Transport and that flies in cabin with Southwest AirlinesDog adoptions are $250, and if you need nationwide transport, it's an extra $250 for the flight and all materials needed.

Story
If you've ever believed that second chances can change a life, just wait until you meet Marvin. When Marvin came to our rescue from a hoarding case, he was heartbreakingly thin with a body condition score of just 2 out of 9. Nearly every bone in his tiny body was visible, and it was clear he hadn't known the care every dog deserves. But thanks to good nutrition, medical care, and lots of love, Marvin has made an absolutely incredible recovery!Today, this sweet senior gentleman is healthy, comfortable, and ready to find the forever family he's waited so long for.Marvin has the gentlest soul. His favorite way to start the day is stretched out in a warm patch of sunshine before spending the rest of it simply being near his favorite person. Whether you're reading a book, watching TV, or working around the house, Marvin is happiest just keeping you company. When Marvin first came to us, he was content simply being nearby. Now he's discovered just how wonderful laps can be! He'll happily climb up for some love and stay there as long as you'll let him. Watching his confidence blossom has been one of the greatest joys of his journey.Marvin gets along beautifully with people, other dogs, and even cats. He's house trained, has wonderful manners, and brings a calm, comforting presence to every room he enters.Marvin does take daily heart medication, which helps keep him feeling his very best. He takes it like a champ and doesn't let it slow him down one bit.Marvin has overcome so much, but he hasn't let his past change his sweet, trusting heart. Now all he needs is a family to show him that the rest of his story will be filled with love, soft beds, sunny windows, and all the cuddles he's missed along the way.Marvin is currently being fostered in Bryan, Texas, but don't let distance stop you. We offer nationwide transport to the nearest major city at no additional cost, making it easy for the right family to welcome him home, no matter where you live.Nationwide transport available, thanks to our Flight Transport partners with SWATT Transport and that flies in cabin with Southwest AirlinesDog adoptions are $250, and if you need nationwide transport, it's an extra $250 for the flight and all materials needed.
