Story
Lexie is estimated to be around 5 years old and about 15 lbs. Here is Lexi (Alexandria), she's a sassy, spunky, and energetic (est) 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who's about 15 and a half lbs. She's a little nervous at first but once she loves you she cannot get enough of you. Does not believe in personal space. Biggest snuggle bug. She is sassy and loud and let's you know what she wants and when she wants it. She loves her fluffy duck and her bed, and is always excited to go for a W-A-L-K. While this little sweetheart loves long walks and exploring, she has fantastic leash manners and is incredibly receptive to commands. She needs a very special home, a little under 3 years ago she was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. This is very well controlled with her medications but she is going to need those for the rest of her life. She also needs to go to a child free household. She was treated badly at a previous home, and since then human miniatures are a no-go. Lexi is excellent with other dogs, cats, kittens, adults (again, little nervous but incredibly food motivated and will do about anything for a treat). If you would like to inquire more about Lexi, please reach out to Long Way Home so we can connect! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Center Ring and Center of Attention - that is where Madeline wants to be! She plays until the lights go out. She will tackle anything, small dog, cat, human, or the Great Danes at her foster home. She enjoys treats, being outside, toys, being in your face to give kisses, all animals, and walks. She does fine in the kennel...as long as she knows you aren't home. She is like the Energizer Bunny - this dog literally plays at 110% until you turn the lights out at night. She needs playmates and an active lifestyle! She may look like a lap dog but she would prefer running around most of the time. Any and all attention is welcome - being ignored is not acceptable :) She has a huge personality and needs just the right family to have the fulfilling life she deserves! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Story
Sometimes the best things come in small packages! Sweet Adelina (or Addy as her foster Mom calls her) is such a treasure and just wants to be with her people! She enjoys sitting near her family's feet or laying on a blanket while they work on the computer and just staying as close as she can. She doesn't like closed doors (smile) but will stay on one side of a baby gate if there is a need. Little Addy loves food so much that her foster mom uses a "slow bowl" so that she will take her time and enjoy it - and not steal anyone else's food. She walks well on a leash and is good about going potty outside as long as she is let out regularly. She is also good with other dogs and the teenager in her foster home. She barks when her family leaves the house as if to say 'please come back soon - I love you'! So if you think you are worthy of that kind of devotion, then ask about adopting Adelina - she will make you her top priority! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. Story
Valeria loves to take her foster Mom's socks for walks! If anyone is looking for an easy peasy, sweet, well-behaved mix of squirrel watcher, sock carrier, and sunbather then Valeria is PERFECT. This sweet gal loves walkies, snacks and watching you do whatever you're doing 🙂 She's the perfect blend of takes herself out to sniff around but isn't SO brave that she has any interest in fleeing the scene. She's great with other dogs... not sure about cats, and loves, loves, loves to chase squirrels. She has plenty of energy if the situation calls for it, but is very content to keep things simple. Once she feels safe, she can let herself go but isn't the most secure individual and would do best with someone who's looking for a companion to chum around with. She doesn't really like being picked up, but loves to rest her head on your lap/arm/foot/anything available. She's a very good sleeper at night and hasn't had any potty training issues. She *does* have separation anxiety issues and will howl when left "alone" so very important that a potential adopter work with her on this and makes sure that neighbors won't react poorly to her dramatic outburst.... She will howl when I walk to the mailbox even when surrounded by the other dogs and humans, but eventually settles and falls asleep at whichever door she's expecting me to come back from. She's got some long legs but is probably best described as a medium-sized small dog; she has the most heartbreaking big brown eyes and loves to stare at you with them!To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.https://longwayhome.org/apply ❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.
