Story
Bricks is a 9 year old, pitbull mix who is absolutely built like a brick. Short, heavy, thick, brown-ish red. He's a low rider with tiny little legs and minimum ground clearance. Bricks is a charming little guy who likes to bounce, sniff and explore! He's happy, friendly and loves to cuddle up under a warm blanket. He was house trained but may need a refresher after being kenneled. He's excellent on-leash and is the perfect little partner to stroll with you around the neighborhood. Bricks was adopted out from a rescue years ago. Shortly, after being adopted from them, he stripped his collar while out for a walk and hurt another dog. Tougher than the 90's crime bill, Va law labeled Bricks as "dangerous" and he will pay for that mistake for the rest of his life. One strike, he's out. He's lucky he isn't dead. He was able to live at a sanctuary ran by that rescue but when they closed, Bricks had no where to go. Lucky for him, the President of Augusta Dog Adoptions is famililar with Va law and was willing to care for Bricks as legally required. Bricks can be adopted within the state of Va with additional requirements. But hey, we have good dogs that no one wants so the chances of that are slim to none. Brick's best chance of finding a home is out of state. He cannot go to a home with cats. He has been ok with some dogs but dominant/aggressive with others. The safest place for him is in a home without other pets. I don't know how to tell someone they should adopt a dog with such a label. You would just have to meet him for yourself. He's little and kind and cute and funny and he deserves to have a family who loves him. A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Bricks, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
Meet Jason! At fours months old, this little guy and his siblings are sweet pups who are full of love, energy, and personality. They are playful, curious, and always ready for an adventure whether its chasing toys, exploring the yard, or snuggling up after playtime. Each puppy has a gentle, loving nature and is looking for a forever family to grow up with. They have been well socialized in an amazing foster home. They have began the housetraining process and have been exposed to many other dogs. Puppies are happiest and most successful with other dogs to play with and plenty of room to romp! If youre ready to add joy, laughter, and puppy kisses to your home, these little cuties are waiting to meet you! Please remember that breed guess is only a guess. This litter is very mixed. A pic of littermates and their mother is available upon request. Right now, they weigh about 15-20 pounds so it is likely they will be on the medium/small side when fully grown. Story
Aspen came from a very crowed rural shelter. He was so very scared in the shelter and the shelter was full, so his chances of making it out alive were very slim. So.....Augusta Dog adoptions pulled him along with 6 other dogs from that shelter. We have no idea what breed he is. Best guess maybe some terrier...maybe some chihuahua....maybe some hound......maybe jack russell.....honestly maybe anything. It took 2 days for his foster mom to be able to touch him, but now he is doing fantastic. He has had a bath and enjoys playing with some of the foster dogs in his home. He seems to prefer dogs close to his size. He will need a patient person who will give him time to get used to them and then have lots of love to give him. He wants to be loved so badly. He seems to be housebroken and has learned to use the doggy door in his foster home. He is learning to walk on a leash and is doing great. He goes slowly and like to look around at things. Probably hasn't seen many things in his lifetime. To keep him safe and because of him being scared of things, a fenced in yard would be best. It doesn't have to be large - even though he does get the roomies sometimes. Aspen is available with a pre approved application and a scheduled meet and greet.
