Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Blue Razz #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Blue Razz | 3-month-old Chihuahua Corgi (Chicorgi) | Tiny body, big personality Blue Razz is a 3-month-old Chicorgi weighing just 6½ pounds, but his personality is larger than life. This stout little low rider loves short bursts of zoomies followed by long naps. He’s more cuddle companion than endurance athlete, happiest playing for a bit and then settling in close to his people. He is starting from scratch with housetraining and will need consistency and patience as he learns. He sleeps through the night in his crate without accidents and settles well after a little initial protest when left alone. He has been left home 4–6 hours with other dogs and does fine once he calms down. Though tiny, Blue Razz is mighty. He confidently plays with much larger dogs, loves wrestling with his sister, and has had positive interactions with dogs, cats, and children. He is sweet, playful, food-motivated, and adores toys and chew bones. Blue Razz does experience some separation anxiety and can be vocal if he knows his people are nearby but can’t access them. Because of this, he would do best in a home with someone around much of the time and may not be ideal for apartment living. Most importantly, Blue Razz must have another dog in the home. He thrives with canine companionship, gains confidence from other dogs, and truly depends on having a playful buddy. He is ready for a loving family — and a built-in best friend — to continue helping him grow into the confident little dog he’s meant to be.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! To ensure Vito finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Vito #2 | 1.5-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher Mix | Shy Little Shadow with a Copper Glow Vito is a 1.5-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix weighing 12 pounds, with a beautiful copper-brown coat and soft, soulful eyes. He is a calm, gentle, and very sensitive little guy who is still learning that the world is a safe place. While he may be shy and fearful at first, there is a sweet and playful personality quietly waiting to bloom for the right person. Vito is almost fully house-trained and will whine, stand by the door, or circle when he needs to go outside. He walks beautifully on leash and is a lovely walking companion. He can become nervous when approaching unfamiliar objects and may try to veer away, but with patience and reassurance, he keeps moving forward. About 30 minutes of activity once or twice a day suits him well, after which he’s happy to relax. He has been left home alone for 4–6 hours and has done wonderfully. He is not crated when alone, though the crate door is left open. Crate training is progressing; he will go in with encouragement or treats and may whine briefly before settling. Because he is a skittish dog, he often chooses the crate on his own when he needs a safe space. Vito loves playing with dogs his own size and really lights up around them. He would do best in a home with another confident, playful, similarly sized dog who can help build his confidence and show him the ropes. Having a canine companion will be an important part of his continued growth. He is generally fearful of new people at first and can be wary of physical touch and loud noises. However, when given space and gentle attention on his terms, he begins to lean in and form a bond. His ideal home will be patient, calm, and understanding — one that allows him to move at his own pace while also providing the confident dog friend he needs. With time, consistency, and kindness, Vito has every potential to blossom into a devoted and loyal companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.
