Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Addie finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Addie #2 | 9-month-old mixed breed | Bouncy sweetheart with puppy energy Addie is a 9-month-old mixed-breed girl weighing about 20 pounds, with a tan coat and a fun, playful personality. She’s sweet, affectionate, and loves to cuddle once she’s comfortable. She can be a little nervous with new people at first but warms up quickly with patience, pets, and treats. She’s almost fully house trained and very close, though a few accidents can still happen, especially in a new environment. Addie signals that she needs to go out by standing at the door and even bumping her nose on the handle. On leash, she’s doing fairly well but is still working on pulling and her strong urge to chase squirrels and other small animals. Addie can be left alone for four to six hours and generally settles after some initial whining. Crate training is still a work in progress—she’ll choose to rest in her crate but gets upset when the door is closed, though she does calm down after about ten minutes. She does well when left loose in the house. She hasn’t met other dogs up close yet but shows playful interest, and the shelter reports she does well with dogs. Due to her prey drive, a home without cats is likely best. She knows basic commands like sit, down, leave it, and drop it, but consistency is key—she’s smart and a bit stubborn. Addie has medium-to-high energy and loves fetch, toys, chewies, and longer walks, but she can also relax and nap during the day. Her ideal home is with someone active, patient, and committed to continuing her training, who can give her the structure and exercise she needs to thrive.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $425. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Chikis #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Chikis #2 | 11-month old Chihuahua | Playful, Sweet, and Full of Joy Meet Chikis, a 11-month old Wheaten-colored Chihuahua with a happy spirit and a heart full of love. This tiny girl is equal parts playful and snuggly—she adores romping around with her foster brother, wrestling, chasing toys, and then curling up for a nap beside him. She’s friendly, affectionate, and always eager to be part of the fun, even if she’s still a little shy at first. Chikis is learning all the basics of puppy life, including house training and leash walking, and she’s doing a great job with encouragement and consistency. She settles nicely in her crate after a few minutes and has been a perfect angel when left alone. She’s motivated by food, toys, and affection, making her a quick learner once she’s comfortable. This sweet pup has had positive interactions with larger dogs and cats, and while she hasn’t met kids yet, her loving and gentle personality suggests she could do well in many kinds of homes. Because she can be a little nervous at first, a calm and patient environment will help her confidence continue to bloom. Chikis does have a seizure disorder, but her anti-seizure medication keeps her completely seizure free, and she’s thriving under that care. She’s a happy, healthy, and playful young dog who just wants love, attention, and a family to call her own. With her cheerful prance, cuddly nature, and joyful energy, Chikis is sure to bring warmth and sunshine to any home lucky enough to have her.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.
