Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Blue Razz #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Blue Razz | 3-month-old Chihuahua Corgi (Chicorgi) | Tiny body, big personality Blue Razz is a 3-month-old Chicorgi weighing just 6½ pounds, but his personality is larger than life. This stout little low rider loves short bursts of zoomies followed by long naps. He’s more cuddle companion than endurance athlete, happiest playing for a bit and then settling in close to his people. He is starting from scratch with housetraining and will need consistency and patience as he learns. He sleeps through the night in his crate without accidents and settles well after a little initial protest when left alone. He has been left home 4–6 hours with other dogs and does fine once he calms down. Though tiny, Blue Razz is mighty. He confidently plays with much larger dogs, loves wrestling with his sister, and has had positive interactions with dogs, cats, and children. He is sweet, playful, food-motivated, and adores toys and chew bones. Blue Razz does experience some separation anxiety and can be vocal if he knows his people are nearby but can’t access them. Because of this, he would do best in a home with someone around much of the time and may not be ideal for apartment living. Most importantly, Blue Razz must have another dog in the home. He thrives with canine companionship, gains confidence from other dogs, and truly depends on having a playful buddy. He is ready for a loving family — and a built-in best friend — to continue helping him grow into the confident little dog he’s meant to be.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! To ensure Vito finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Vito #2 | 1.5-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher Mix | Shy Little Shadow with a Copper Glow Vito is a 1.5-year-old Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix weighing 12 pounds, with a beautiful copper-brown coat and soft, soulful eyes. He is a calm, gentle, and very sensitive little guy who is still learning that the world is a safe place. While he may be shy and fearful at first, there is a sweet and playful personality quietly waiting to bloom for the right person. Vito is almost fully house-trained and will whine, stand by the door, or circle when he needs to go outside. He walks beautifully on leash and is a lovely walking companion. He can become nervous when approaching unfamiliar objects and may try to veer away, but with patience and reassurance, he keeps moving forward. About 30 minutes of activity once or twice a day suits him well, after which he’s happy to relax. He has been left home alone for 4–6 hours and has done wonderfully. He is not crated when alone, though the crate door is left open. Crate training is progressing; he will go in with encouragement or treats and may whine briefly before settling. Because he is a skittish dog, he often chooses the crate on his own when he needs a safe space. Vito loves playing with dogs his own size and really lights up around them. He would do best in a home with another confident, playful, similarly sized dog who can help build his confidence and show him the ropes. Having a canine companion will be an important part of his continued growth. He is generally fearful of new people at first and can be wary of physical touch and loud noises. However, when given space and gentle attention on his terms, he begins to lean in and form a bond. His ideal home will be patient, calm, and understanding — one that allows him to move at his own pace while also providing the confident dog friend he needs. With time, consistency, and kindness, Vito has every potential to blossom into a devoted and loyal companion.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Addie finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Addie #2 | 9-month-old mixed breed | Bouncy sweetheart with puppy energy Addie is a 9-month-old mixed-breed girl weighing about 20 pounds, with a tan coat and a fun, playful personality. She’s sweet, affectionate, and loves to cuddle once she’s comfortable. She can be a little nervous with new people at first but warms up quickly with patience, pets, and treats. She’s almost fully house trained and very close, though a few accidents can still happen, especially in a new environment. Addie signals that she needs to go out by standing at the door and even bumping her nose on the handle. On leash, she’s doing fairly well but is still working on pulling and her strong urge to chase squirrels and other small animals. Addie can be left alone for four to six hours and generally settles after some initial whining. Crate training is still a work in progress—she’ll choose to rest in her crate but gets upset when the door is closed, though she does calm down after about ten minutes. She does well when left loose in the house. She hasn’t met other dogs up close yet but shows playful interest, and the shelter reports she does well with dogs. Due to her prey drive, a home without cats is likely best. She knows basic commands like sit, down, leave it, and drop it, but consistency is key—she’s smart and a bit stubborn. Addie has medium-to-high energy and loves fetch, toys, chewies, and longer walks, but she can also relax and nap during the day. Her ideal home is with someone active, patient, and committed to continuing her training, who can give her the structure and exercise she needs to thrive.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. Story
Sally is a 2.5-year-old Chihuahua mix (possibly with a touch of Dachshund) who survived years in a hoarding home where she likely spent her life raising puppies in heartbreaking conditions. Today, she is healthy, healed, and learning what it means to feel safe. Sally is gentle, mellow, and cautious at first — she needs patience and time to build trust. Once she feels secure, her sweet and playful side begins to shine. She enjoys being near her people, does well with other dogs, loves her hedgehog toy, and will even stand on her back legs for a treat. Sally would thrive in a calm home with patient humans (and ideally another confident dog) who understand that the most meaningful love is the kind that’s earned. If you’re willing to give her time, she will give you her whole heart. *** Go to www.pawsitiverestorations.com to learn all about our dogs, watch their silly videos, read our adoption process, and to submit an adoption application. Inquiries made on this site will not be seen! Visiting our website will answer all of your questions. Thank you! 🐶🐾

Story
Bella is an approx 2 y/o 10# Chiweenie who was found as a stray in a small rural TX town. No one came in to claim her and she was very frightened at the shelter. She's now in a foster home in CO and is coming out of her shell. She loves to be near her person/people, sit on your lap, and sleep under the covers in the big bed. Bella now loves to play with other dogs but can get snarky if she doesn’t get to be the boss. Bella has a difficult time sharing so we are looking to place her in a home where she is the only dog or with a laid back dog who doesn’t care about her bossiness. Bella needs a secure 6 ft fenced yard as she will be a flight risk for awhile and humans who can take her out frequently. She is potty trained and crate trained. She enjoys walks and is good on the leash but will bark at people, other dogs and unfamiliar things. She had made a lot of progress with her fear barking on walks and will need her new owner to continue with her reward based training. She'd do best with someone (she prefers women over men) home during the day and no small children. She hasn't been overly barky indoors. She was curious about cats but we're not sure how should be be living with them. If interested in meeting Bella, complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms as the first step. We require the application, home and reference check, and meet with everyone in the home including pets. Bella is spayed, utd on vaccs, chipped, and HW-. Her adoption fee is $375 and we are not doing any out of state adoptions.November 2, 2024, 3:49 pm

Coco and Jerry arrive in Colorado Saturday 2/7/2026 and needs a committed foster home or adopter to welcome them! This adorable bonded pair of six- to seven pound Applehead Chihuahuas, six year old Coco and his sister five year old Jerry, have the same Mum, different Dad's. Their previous owner sadly had to surrender them to rescue when moving due to finances. Luckily, these two have each other to navigate the changes! They are great together and love people- especially kids! Have a kid that wants a pet to dress up? These are your dogs! They LOVE to wear clothes and will wait to be dressed. They love to cuddle under blankets too. The siblings are very codependent- they don't suffer from separation anxiety, but will follow each other around, They will tolerate other dogs and will get used to them, but aren really into toys or playing. What they are into is food, and dressing up- these are foodie divas. The divas are currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring them up and into their home. ***The divas are being posted on behalf of our partner rescue in Texas- the process and adoption will go through them. The adoption fee does not include the transport fee (usually $125-200/per dog).*** Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado.
