Story
🐾 RIGGS 🐾 Age: 4 years Weight: 14 lbs Breed (guess): Chiweenie ✨ WHO RIGGS IS Riggs is a sweet, loving little guy who needs a bit of time to feel comfortable in new situations. New people and places can be scary at first, but once he settles in, his goofy and affectionate personality comes out in full force. When Riggs trusts you, he wants to be right by your side. 😍 THE CUTE STUFF • Loves playing with a ball • Adorable head tilts • Ears that sometimes stick straight out to the sides • Professional lap enthusiast once comfortable ⚠️ THE HONEST PART • Nervous pee-er at the beginning when adjusting or startled • Needs to be crated for car rides 🎓 TRAINING & MANNERS Leash: Does great overall. May pull a little if scared but mostly wants to stay with his person. House Training: 100% house trained — nervous peeing only happens early on or if startled. Crate: Excellent at night — quiet until morning. During the day, he may whine if people are home because he wants to be with them. Crate = safe space. ⚡ ENERGY & MOTIVATION Energy level: Medium Motivated by: Treats and praise 🐕 SOCIAL SKILLS With dogs: Great with all dogs he’s met. Playful and respectful of boundaries. Especially enjoys dogs his size. With new people: Very shy at first but warms up quickly — usually within about a day. In the car: Nervous but improving. Does best in a travel crate with a washable pee pad. 🏡 IDEAL HOME • Patient, understanding people • Willing to give him time to adjust • A dog friend around his size would be a big bonus Fence: Does well on leash, but a securely fenced area would make the first few days easier while he builds trust. 🐾 Adoption Info All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: 👉 https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please note: The dog you’re applying for may already have a meet-and-greet scheduled, be on a trial with another family, or has been offered to another rescue within our network. Story
🐾 BISCUIT 🐾 Small dog. Big couch energy. Age: 4 years Weight: 17 lbs Breed: Dachshund Mix 💬 The Vibe Biscuit is a quiet, sensitive soul who thrives in calm, predictable environments. He’s not flashy or demanding — he just wants a soft place to land and someone who understands that confidence comes with time. 🛋️ Biscuit’s Signature Move Claiming the couch like he pays rent. Cozy spots are his love language. 🧠 What Biscuit Is Learning Responds to “crate” / “kennel” Appears to be house trained Building confidence with handling, routines, and new experiences 🐕 Day-to-Day Details Leash: ❌ Very fearful — not leash-ready yet Energy Level: 💤 Low Motivation: 🍗 Food House Training: ✅ Believed to be house trained Crate: ⚖️ Tolerates it (goes in when asked, but still nervous) 🐶 Dog & People Notes With Dogs: Biscuit loves other dogs and is very much the lowest on the totem pole. He shows affection through enthusiastic face licking, which not all dogs appreciate. Because of this, he would do best with a dog tolerant of his overly friendly style. Once comfortable, we believe he would enjoy playing with a dog his own size. He’s still learning canine social cues and isn’t quite fluent in “dude, get outta my face.” With New People: Fine overall, but slow to approach. Gentle introductions work best. 🚪 Manners Check Door Dasher: ⚠️ Could be if given the chance Jumping: ⚠️ Occasionally when excited Counter Surfing: ❌ No — but very curious about your food 🚗 On the Road Car rides make him nervous. He seeks comfort by sitting in a lap. 🏡 Best Home Match A low-chaos, quieter home with patient humans who understand shy dogs. Biscuit would do best where routines are consistent and expectations are gentle. 🚧 Fence Requirement Secure physical fence required — leash walks are not his comfort zone right now. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our requirements are non-negotiable and include the following: All current pets in the home must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months of age, unless there is a documented medical exemption with veterinary confirmation. All current dogs must be up to date on Rabies and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP) vaccinations. All current dogs must be on consistent, consecutive heartworm prevention. Past dogs listed on the application must also show a consecutive history of heartworm prevention. Story
🐾 Meet Poppy! 🐾 Name: Poppy Age: 10 months Weight: 16 lbs Guessed Breed: Chihuahua mix 🌸 Personality Snapshot Poppy is a “slow burn” kind of girl — she takes a little time to warm up, but once she does, she bonds hard. When she feels safe, she’s 16 pounds of pure fun and joy. She loves to run, play fetch, toss her toys around, and curl up for cuddles. She also enjoys the company of other dogs and finds comfort in them. 😄 Cute Quirk When Poppy gets excited, she goes on a mission to steal things, especially items bigger than she is. Winter boots, sweatpants, random laundry — if it’s oversized, it’s fair game. ⚠️ Not-So-Great Habits New people can be scary for Poppy, and she may bark at first. Slow, respectful introductions help her feel safe and confident. 🎓 Training She’s Working On Basic commands: sit, come, down Leash skills Positive introductions to new people 🦮 Leash Manners Generally good on leash, though the world can still feel a bit overwhelming at times. 🏠 At-Home Skills House trained: Yes Crate manners: Will go into her crate happily with a treat Door dasher: No Jumper: No Counter surfer: No ⚡ Energy Level Medium — playful and active, but also enjoys downtime. 🍖 Motivation Food motivated (treats are the way to her heart). 🐶 Dog Friendly Yes! Another confident, friendly dog would be a big plus for her. 👋 With New People Needs slow, patient introductions. 🚗 Car Manners Nervous at the start of rides but improving with experience. ❤️ Favorite Things Running in the yard, playing fetch, toys, and snuggling on the couch with dogs and her people. 🏡 Best Home Scenario A home where someone is around more often than not, older children, another dog to help boost her confidence, and adopters willing to patiently help her continue building trust with new people. 🚧 Fence Needs A physical fence is required. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Story
Meet Candy! 🍬 Age: 1.5 years • Weight: 14 lbs • Breed: Dachshund / Chi mix Candy may be shy at first, but once she settles in, she’s a whole vibe! Her coloring comes from her dachshund side, while her long legs are pure Chi energy. She has a big, loving personality, is playful, and bonds hard with her people. She loves other dogs, and a home with another dog her size and a secure fenced yard is required — a companion her size will help her feel confident and playful. Cute Quirk: Candy is crazy about her tennis balls and will play with them by herself, running and hopping like a tiny deer. 🐾 Not-So-Great Habits: She’s still working on leash training and may bark or howl when someone comes home. She jumps when excited but is learning to calm down. Training Snapshot: Leash Manners: Work in progress; can be shy and may hide in her crate during harness time. House Trained: Yes! No accidents. Crate Trained: Yes, very good — her crate is her safe space. Dog Door Trained: Yes! She knows exactly how to use it. Door Dasher: Will try to be first out, but no other attempts to escape. Jumper: Excited, but manageable with guidance. Car Manners: Nervous, but does well in a travel crate. Motivation: Food, toys, praise — she loves all rewards!
