Story
🐾 Meet Alex 🐾 Alex is a 10-month-old Dachshund mix weighing just 19 lbs—and while he’s small, his journey into confidence is going to be a big one. Let’s be clear about one thing upfront: Alex has never shown any aggression—he is simply scared. New people, new environments, and new experiences can overwhelm him, so he’s going to need a patient home willing to continue helping him feel safe. Men are still something he’s learning to trust. He’s made great progress and can now coexist comfortably in the same space, but building that trust will take time and consistency. Once he bonds, though, he bonds hard—he quickly attached to his foster mom and now follows her everywhere, soaking up love and attention. Alex is crate trained, potty trained, and uses a dog door like a pro. His crate is his safe space, and he genuinely loves it. He may have occasional nervous accidents when overwhelmed, but that continues to improve as his confidence grows. Leash work is still a work in progress, as it’s something that scares him right now. Because of this—and because he has shown he will look for ways to escape—a secure fenced yard is required. He also must have another dog in the home. This is not optional for Alex. He thrives by following the lead of other dogs and gains confidence from them. He’s been fantastic with his foster siblings, reads their cues beautifully, and loves to play. Having a confident, playful, well-balanced dog will make all the difference for him. Outside is Alex’s happy place. He absolutely lives for it—running, exploring, and soaking up the fresh air. If it were up to him, he’d spend all day out there just being a dog. 🐶 Alex’s Must-Haves: Another confident, playful dog in the home A secure fenced yard A patient, committed adopter Someone willing to continue working on confidence and leash skills Alex isn’t a “ready-made” dog—but he’s a good dog. A safe dog. A dog who just needs someone to show him that the world isn’t so scary. If you’re willing to put in the time, Alex will give you something special in return—the kind of bond you only get from earning a dog’s trust. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/ neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Story
🐾 Meet Bentley 🐾 Bentley is a 7–8 year old Chihuahua mix with the cutest little nose you've ever seen and a heart that just wants someone to love. At only 10 lbs, Bentley is the perfect size for lap sitting, couch cuddling, and following his favorite person from room to room. He's happiest when he's close to his humans and would love a quiet home where he can spend his days being spoiled the way he deserves. Honestly, Bentley might even enjoy riding around in a sling while his favorite person goes about their day. Bentley rides well in the car, sleeps through the night, and is making great progress with crate training and house manners. He's learning leash walking and is doing well, though he'd much rather focus on the important things in life—like treats and snuggles. His ideal home would be with someone home more often than not who wants a devoted little companion. He's not a high-energy guy. A few playful moments, a zoomie here and there, and he's ready to curl up beside you for a nap. Bentley can be a little cautious when life changes around him and may need time to settle in and build trust. Give him patience and understanding, and you'll be rewarded with a loyal best friend who wants nothing more than to be by your side. 💕 Loves treats 💕 Loves snuggles 💕 Enjoys other dogs 💕 Does well with older, respectful children 💕 Expert lap warmer 💕 Possesses an exceptionally boopable nose The only thing Bentley is asking for is a family willing to continue helping him with his house training and to understand that wet grass is, in fact, completely unacceptable. If you're looking for a tiny shadow who wants to be wherever you are, Bentley may be your perfect match. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing and treatment if necessary, current flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipping prior to adoption. 👉 To start the adoption process, please fill out our application here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/WAG/Dog Please note: The dog you’re applying for may already have a meet-and-greet scheduled or have been offered to another rescue within our network. 🌟 Meet Elbie! 🌟 Elbie is a 14 lb, 6-year-old fun-sized ball of mischief and love. We’re guessing Pekingese/Dachshund, but honestly, he’s just 100% Elbie. 💖 Elbie’s Favorite Things: People (he’s never met a stranger!) Playtime with other dogs Snacks, treats, and ALL the food Benebones and toys Short naps (upside down for max cuteness) Belly rubs on demand ✨ The Important Stuff: Crates – He does better when left alone, but if you’re home, he thinks he should be out with you Leash – Doing much better! House manners – He knows them and does well Personality – If you give him an inch, he’ll take a mile 😉 He will need structure and leadership in his home 🐕 Good with: All people + dogs his size and up for play 🐾 Not good with: Cats or anything that runs—he’s a chaser 🚪 Door dasher alert: Working on “wait,” but for now, watch those doors! 👨‍👩‍👧 Kids: Best with older, respectful kids 🏡 Elbie’s Perfect Family: A home with playful dogs his size and/or older kids, and someone around often—or willing to maintain his routine and structure. He thrives with clear expectations and consistency. If you’re looking for a pup who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and cuddle up after playtime—Elbie’s your guy.
