Story
🐾 Meet Alex 🐾 Alex is a 10-month-old Dachshund mix weighing just 19 lbs—and while he’s small, his journey into confidence is going to be a big one. Let’s be clear about one thing upfront: Alex has never shown any aggression—he is simply scared. New people, new environments, and new experiences can overwhelm him, so he’s going to need a patient home willing to continue helping him feel safe. Men are still something he’s learning to trust. He’s made great progress and can now coexist comfortably in the same space, but building that trust will take time and consistency. Once he bonds, though, he bonds hard—he quickly attached to his foster mom and now follows her everywhere, soaking up love and attention. Alex is crate trained, potty trained, and uses a dog door like a pro. His crate is his safe space, and he genuinely loves it. He may have occasional nervous accidents when overwhelmed, but that continues to improve as his confidence grows. Leash work is still a work in progress, as it’s something that scares him right now. Because of this—and because he has shown he will look for ways to escape—a secure fenced yard is required. He also must have another dog in the home. This is not optional for Alex. He thrives by following the lead of other dogs and gains confidence from them. He’s been fantastic with his foster siblings, reads their cues beautifully, and loves to play. Having a confident, playful, well-balanced dog will make all the difference for him. Outside is Alex’s happy place. He absolutely lives for it—running, exploring, and soaking up the fresh air. If it were up to him, he’d spend all day out there just being a dog. 🐶 Alex’s Must-Haves: Another confident, playful dog in the home A secure fenced yard A patient, committed adopter Someone willing to continue working on confidence and leash skills Alex isn’t a “ready-made” dog—but he’s a good dog. A safe dog. A dog who just needs someone to show him that the world isn’t so scary. If you’re willing to put in the time, Alex will give you something special in return—the kind of bond you only get from earning a dog’s trust. 🐾 Adoption Info: All of our animals are fully vetted, which includes spay/ neuter, up to date on vaccines, wormed, heartworm tested and treated if necessary, up to date on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchipped prior to adoption. Story
Meet Tater the Turd! Yes… he earned that name honestly. But once you meet him, you’ll quickly realize this little guy is more lovable rascal than troublemaker. Tater is a 3.5-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix weighing about 16 pounds. He’s the perfect mix of playful and laid-back. While he enjoys running around the yard with other dogs, he’s not much of a toy guy — he’d much rather curl up on the couch and relax with his people. Tater is crate trained, potty trained, and learning to walk nicely on a leash. He rides well in the car but prefers to sit close to someone so he can feel safe and secure. Because Tater can be a little nervous in new environments, he will need a secure privacy fence. A chain-link fence likely wouldn’t be the best option, as he has been known to try to make a great escape if he gets scared (hence the name!). The good news is that in the right home, Tater settles in nicely. He is good with other dogs and does well with kids, and he really enjoys having dog friends to run around the yard with. Tater is also very food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for continued training and bonding time with his new family. If you’re looking for a fun little character with a goofy personality and a love for couch time, Tater might just be your perfect match. Story
🐾 Meet Ladybug Small but mighty—Ladybug is the feisty one of the crew. She’s full of personality, confidence, and just enough sass to keep you on your toes. If you’re looking for a tiny dog with a big presence, she’s your girl. Ladybug is an 8-week-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix currently weighing in at 2.4 lbs. With mom at 12 lbs and dad at 15 lbs, we expect her to stay in that small range once full grown. Like her siblings, she’s very playful and loves to stay busy, but she’s the one leading the charge most of the time. She’s not crate or potty trained yet—she’s still a baby—so her new family should be ready to put in the time and consistency that comes with raising a puppy. Someone home more often than not will set her up for success, especially with her tiny bladder. Ladybug has the cutest little “Yoda ears” that give her that extra character you can’t help but smile at. Because of her size, we are looking for a home that understands how fragile small puppies are. Supervision around children is a must, and all kids will need to be present at the meet and greet. Other dogs are fine—big or small—but proper introductions and awareness are key to keeping her safe. Ladybug will be placed on a foster-to-adopt agreement until she is spayed by our veterinarian, at which point her adoption will be finalized. She’s a blank slate ready for someone to channel all that spunky energy into a well-rounded little companion.
