Story
Meet Westley: long dog, shy guy, backyard security specialist 🐾🌭 Westley is a 3-year-old Chiweenie weighing about 12 pounds, though genetically he seems to have said “more dachshund, please.” He’s got the long little body, the adorable waddly zoomies, and serious opinions about neighborhood activity. This sweet boy absolutely LOVES other dogs. In fact, having a playful dog buddy—or regular dog friends to romp around with—is basically a requirement for his happiness. Nothing brings Westley to life faster than backyard zoomies with canine pals. He’s social, playful, and happiest when another dog says, “Wanna run around for absolutely no reason?” Westley is very shy when meeting new people and can freeze up when he’s nervous, but he has never shown any meanness whatsoever. Once he realizes he’s safe, his curious and goofy personality starts peeking through. He actually did great at a local pet store despite being nervous about introductions, and he’s been good with calm kids and polite people he’s met along the way. He’s also cat-curious—more “what are you?” than “must chase immediately.” At home, Westley is quiet indoors… unless someone dares walk past his backyard. Then he transforms into a tiny neighborhood watch captain dedicated to alerting everyone about suspicious activity such as joggers, squirrels, and people existing on sidewalks. (The neighbors may not fully appreciate his commitment to public safety.) Westley is crate trained, loves walks, and is just beginning to discover the magical joy of toys. His new tennis ball? Life-changing. He’s still working on house training and leash manners, but he’s eager to explore the world and will thrive with patience, routine, and encouragement. If you’re looking for a gentle, funny little sidekick who loves dogs, backyard adventures, and becoming part of a pack, Westley is ready to wiggle his way into your heart 💙🐾 If you are interested in finding out more about Westley, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Westley is being fostered in Cambridge, MA. The adoption fee is $500. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: Yes, with proper introductionsGood with cats: UnknownGood with kids: Older kids only (13+)Crate trained: YesHouse trained: YesHave you met Daisy? Don’t let her tiny stature fool you. This pint-sized powerhouse is an active, adventure-loving pup who’s always ready to tag along for fun. Daisy’s idea of a perfect day includes a car ride to the beach, splashing and romping through the water, playing a rousing game of fetch, and finishing it all off with a well-earned pupsicle. Whether her people work from home, head into the office, or work hybrid, Daisy is impressively adaptable and just happy to be part of the routine.Daisy is both house trained and crate trained, and she does great even on full office days as long as she gets her extra outdoor time for walks or backyard play. In the evenings, she transforms into a master nest builder. Oversized fuzzy blankets are her specialty, and once she’s cocooned, you may catch her gently suckling and kneading as she drifts off to sleep.Daisy has lived with other dogs and would do best with a calm, gentle canine companion, especially with slow and thoughtful introductions. While she hasn’t lived with cats, she shows little to no interest in them on neighborhood walks. Daisy would thrive in an adult home or one with older, dog-savvy kids (13+).Daisy is bursting with charm and character. From her signature chihuahua squint side-eye, to the way she locks onto her ball with laser focus, to her precious grin, she brightens her people’s lives daily. Daisy is making steady progress with leash walking especially given a consistent routine. Daisy is looking for a family that can continue helping her build confidence and feel secure in her world.Full of spunk, sweetness, and affection, Daisy is ready to bring joy, laughter, and a whole lot of heart into her future family’s life.
