She bonds deeply with her person and prefers to spend her days nearby—often lounging on the couch or resting in her bed within sight. Bella adjusts slowly in new places and may need a day or two to feel safe, but once she does, her affectionate, easygoing personality shines. She enjoys other dogs, does wonderfully with cats, and has always been gentle around children, though a quieter home suits her best. Bella loves car rides, walks beautifully on a leash, and would make a wonderful office companion or stay‑at‑home sidekick. She is currently overweight and will benefit from consistent walks, a healthier routine, and someone who can help her transition away from table food. Bella does fine when left alone for short periods, but she is happiest when her person is close and her world feels predictable and secure. From Bella Rae: Hi, I’m Bella Rae. I’m a soft‑hearted girl who loves being near my human and feeling like part of your day. I may hide under a bed or table at first, but once I know I’m safe, I’ll follow you around like your little shadow. I’m not much of a lap dog, but I love being close curled up on the couch or snoozing in my favorite spot while you work or relax. I adore car rides, enjoy gentle play with other dogs, and I’m very proud of how nicely I walk on a leash. I’ve lived with cats and think they make great friends. Loud noises, big changes, and thunderstorms can be scary for me, so I’m hoping for a peaceful home with someone patient and loving. If you’re looking for a loyal, tender‑hearted companion who just wants to be near you and share a calm, cozy life, I would love to be your girl.May 30, 2026, 4:11 pm

Story
This adorable little girl recently transferred to BENCHS from another shelter and is now searching for the family she has always deserved. At just five and a half months old and a little under 20 pounds, Sissy is still very much a puppy with plenty of growing left to do, but she already has the cutest long little body and short legs that make us wonder if there might be some Dachshund or even Basset Hound mixed into her somewhere. Shelter life has been a big adjustment for Sissy, and she is still learning how to feel confident in such a busy environment filled with new sounds, routines, and unfamiliar people. Beneath her shy moments is an incredibly sweet and friendly puppy who truly wants to connect with people once she feels safe. One of the fastest ways to win Sissy over is with snacks, because this girl is VERY treat motivated and always excited to see what goodies you might have for her. Sissy has a soft and gentle personality, and watching her slowly come out of her shell has been incredibly rewarding for our staff. She is looking for a patient and loving home willing to continue helping her build confidence while showing her that the world can be kind and predictable. We truly believe there is a playful, happy little dog waiting to fully bloom once she settles into the right environment. Her adorable low-to-the-ground body only adds to her charm, and honestly, she is impossible not to smile at when she waddles around exploring the world with those little legs. Whatever breeds make up Sissy, one thing is certain: she is absolutely full of potential and deserves a family willing to love her through the growing process. Because of Sissy’s long torso and possible Dachshund-type build, we are recommending a home without children under the age of 6. Dogs with long backs can be more prone to spinal injuries, especially if they are accidentally carried incorrectly or handled too roughly by small children, so we want to help keep Sissy as safe and healthy as possible as she continues to grow. Sissy is hoping to find an active indoor home where she can continue learning, exploring, cuddling, and becoming the wonderful dog she is meant to be. We think her very best days are still ahead of her.
