Charlie was surrendered with his two housemates due to a change in his owner’s housing situation. Though it was a difficult goodbye, Charlie has brought so much personality and joy into our home. He may be tiny and petite, but don’t be fooled — this little guy is packed full of spunk! Charlie is equal parts sass and sweetness. He knows exactly what he wants (a lap), and he isn’t shy about it. If he’s happily snoozing on you and you dare to shift positions? Expect a tiny grumble of protest — how could you possibly disturb royalty at rest? Charlie has quickly become my little shadow. He toddles along behind me and will politely (and sometimes not-so-politely) remind me when it’s time to sit down so he can resume his rightful place on my lap. If a lap isn’t available, he’s content to relax in his crate, where he sleeps peacefully at night and often chooses to nap during the day. He is potty trained on a schedule and does well with routine. More than anything, Charlie would thrive in a home where his person is around more often than not — someone who appreciates a constant companion and has a warm lap ready for duty. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend with a big personality and an even bigger love for snuggles, Charlie is your guy. About Me – From Charlie: Hi. I’m Charlie. Some people say I’m feisty… I prefer “confident and clear about my needs.” And my needs are simple: You sit down. I get on your lap. You hold me, pet me, and admire me. That’s it. That’s the whole plan. Give me a cozy lap and a little affection, and I’ll be the happiest (and cutest) little shadow you’ve ever had.      February 27, 2026, 9:25 pm

Story
Name: Princess Age: 13 years   Gender: Female Breed: Chihuahua Weight: 9 lbs Dog friendly: yes  Cat friendly: yes Child friendly: yes, older calm and gentle children, please House trained:  yes Crate trained:  yes Energy level: moderate Temperament: calm, loving, sassy, devoted Adoption Fee: $75+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   Looking for a tiny best friend with a big heart and an even bigger snuggle game? This sweet senior Chihuahua is ready to claim her spot in your lap — and in your heart. Through no fault of her own, she recently found herself in need of a new beginning after her former owner experienced a housing change that no longer allowed pets. Despite the transition, she has remained the same loving, devoted little companion she’s always been. Though small in stature, she has a personality that fills the room. She delights in the simple pleasures: a basket of toys to rummage through, peaceful strolls where she can take her time exploring, and most of all, a warm lap to curl up in. Snuggling isn’t just something she enjoys — it’s her life’s calling. She’ll make sure everyone in the home feels loved, cherished, and properly cuddled. True to her Chihuahua roots, she comes with a dash of sass. When another furry companion tries to edge in on her snuggle time, she may offer a bark to gently (or not-so-gently!) remind them whose turn it is. She’s currently learning that sharing is caring and making progress. She’s a tidy little lady in the home, appreciates a comfortable routine, and carries herself with the sweet confidence that comes from her senior years. Overall, she’s a loyal, loving companion who will bring warmth, devotion, and just the right touch of charming Chihuahua spirit to her forever family.      March 1, 2026, 11:37 am

Story
Name: Jack Age: 13 years  Gender: male Breed: Chihuahua / Cairn Terrier mix Weight: 11 lbs Dog friendly: yes  Cat friendly: testing available upon request Child friendly: yes, older  (t eenage) calm and respectful children , please House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: low Temperament: Sassy , sweet, quirky, curious, loving Adoption Fee: $7 5+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html   About Me – From My Foster Family: Jack was lovingly surrendered along with his two housemates due to a change in his owner’s housing situation. It was a very difficult decision, and it’s clear he was well cared for. He recently had a dental and is feeling much more comfortable — though he does have very few teeth remaining, which just adds to his adorable little smile. Jack has shown that he adapts nicely with time, patience, and reassurance. Like many Chihuahuas, he can be a bit sensitive and easily startled. He isn’t comfortable with people running nearby or leaning over him, and he will let you know if he feels unsure by growling. If truly frightened, he may attempt to lunge to ask for space, so he needs a home that will respect his space and understand his cues. Because of this, he is best suited for a calm, predictable household. Jack is crate trained and settles nicely in his crate at night, where he sleeps quietly. He is potty trained on a schedule, and while he did mark a few times when he first arrived — which is not uncommon during transitions — he does well with consistency, routine, and gentle guidance. At heart, Jack is a devoted, low-energy companion. His very favorite thing to do is keep your lap warm. Once he feels safe, he loves to snuggle close, soak up affection, and simply be near his person. He has a sweet, quirky personality and will thrive in a peaceful home where he can relax and be someone’s cherished little shadow. About Me – From Jack: Hi, I’m Jack. I may seem a little serious at first, but I’m really just a small guy who feels safest in a calm home. Once I know you, I’m all about cuddles. My favorite place in the whole world? Your lap. I take my job of keeping it warm very seriously. I love gentle pets — especially behind my ears — and I have plenty of sweet kisses to share once I feel safe.      March 1, 2026, 5:32 pm
