Story
Cookie came to us as a bonded pair with another Chi, Tiny, who we sadly lost in July of this year (2026). Cookie was the larger one at around 8lbs and is younger at only around 2 years old. She has been spayed since she came to us. Cookie can bark at strange men especially but did great with our male vet and team members she has been around, and seems to calm down after spending just a brief amount of time with them. She especially is a kisser and loves to love on people-awwww! She can be a vocal Chi so would not be appropriate for an apartment and seems to do ok with other dogs but we are still learning about how she will do after so recently losing Tiny, her husband (yes they were officially married!). She seems ok so far and just goes to his sleeping spots to see if he is there, so we are not sure is she would be better in a house as the only dog, or would be better with others.August 27, 2026, 5:57 pm

Story
Lester is a super senior Chi who is brand new to BR so we are still getting to know him. We know he is an anxious guy when he first comes to you and needs a few things to help him settle cuz he has his old man ways - but this little guy can get going still too! He will be coming soon until we can learn a bit more.August 27, 2026, 5:57 pm

Story
Wendell is a young VERY SWEET daschund mix so has short little legs. He is mixed with who knows how many other breeds but he is cute as heck!  Wendell has come to us Heartworm positive and has entered the treatment phase of that process. He also does have an old injury to his hindquarters that will require an FHO surgery once he is through the HW treatment so probably early Winter of 2026. He also has a neurological issue from that injury (the vet and surgeon agree that he was probably hit by a car and not treated) that does effect his sciatica and causes his little butt to shift out from underneath him sometimes. But please know that NONE of this stops this little guy!!! He is an active, fun little dude who seems good with other dogs and interested in cats. He would probably make a great family pet and is suuuuch a good boy! He is also crate trained and does great in one! The one thing it is important to note for Wendell is that he does have some fecal incontinence which is probably a direct result of his injury and will most likely not improve which is sad because he is only three. BUT. We have learned that if Wendell has a doggie door he can use to access a yard (while you are home of course) then he does seem to have enough notice and time to get out to the yard to potty. This would probably not make him appropriate for an apartment setting though since it would be challenging for them to have a doggie door and a yard. If that were the case, we think he could be in an apartment. Also know that Bonaparte's would be happy to continue the cost of treating his HW and also the surgery when we got to that point.August 27, 2026, 5:57 pm
