Story
Meet Raylan, a sweet ~12-year-old girl who has been part of our family since she was just three months old. She is a loving, gentle, and affectionate little dog. Raylan adores people, is wonderful with kids, and has spent her whole life on a farm. She’s comfortable and trustworthy around chickens, ducks, and turkeys. She also loves going on hikes and being outdoors. Raylan has no health issues and is still active and full of life. She thrives on attention and would do best with a family (or individual) who can give her the time, love, and companionship she deserves. This is an incredibly hard decision for us. We are expecting our third baby and will be moving out of state, and we simply cannot take her with us. She has been such a special part of our family for nearly 12 years, and we only want the very best for her next chapter. If you have a loving home with the time and space to give Raylan the attention she needs, we would b

Story
Meet Petunia, a five month old Chihuahua mix weighing 11 pounds.Petunia is a sweet young girl who came to us after being surrendered to animal control along with her siblings. Her previous owner had more dogs than they were able to properly care for, and Petunia is now looking for a fresh start with a family of her own.Petunia is a little shy at first, but underneath that initial hesitation is a very sweet girl who just needs time, patience, and someone she can learn to trust. Once she feels comfortable, she is sure to show just how much love she has to give. One of Petunia’s biggest needs right now is getting to a healthy weight. She is significantly overweight, especially for such a young dog, and helping her reach a healthy body condition sooner rather than later is important for her long-term health and quality of life. A healthy weight will help reduce the risk of joint problems and other weight-related issues and give Petunia the best chance at a long, active life without unnecessary pain.Petunia will need a family committed to proper nutrition, regular exercise, continued training, and routine veterinary care. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, we believe this sweet girl can blossom into a happy, healthy companion. If you’re willing to help Petunia become the best and healthiest version of herself, she would love to meet you! This pet is available for adoption on 8.7.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Dorris, a seven year old Chihuahua mix weighing 14 pounds.Dorris is a sweet girl who is trying to make sense of all the changes around her. Right now, she’s feeling a little nervous and unsure, and you can almost see her wondering, “How did I get here?” With a little time, patience, and reassurance, Dorris is ready to show the loving companion she can be.This gentle girl may need some time to warm up, but once she feels safe, she is sure to form a special bond with her people. Dorris would do best in a calm home without young children right now, where she can relax, build confidence, and learn that she is safe and loved.Dorris isn’t asking for much—just a little understanding, a little patience, and someone willing to give her the time she needs. If you’re looking for a loyal companion and want to be part of a dog’s journey toward confidence and happiness, Dorris may be the perfect match. This pet is available for adoption on 8/1/2026 2:25 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
