Story
Cooper is a 7-year-old neutered male dog. My sister recently passed away and we took her dog in. We already have two large breed dogs, having three is too much for the household. Cooper is good with kids, other dogs, and cats. He listens well and is very sweet! He would make a good companion for any family!

Story
Meet Buckbeak, a three-year-old Chihuahua/Shin Tzu mix weighing seven pounds.Buckbeak is a fluffy sweetheart who`s looking for a fresh start and a family to call his own.He came to us after his owners made the difficult decision to surrender him because they were experiencing homelessness and could no longer provide the care he deserved. They shared that Buckbeak has lived with other dogs and cats and was doing well with both. He was also working on his potty training before coming to the shelter.Shelter life has been a big adjustment for Buckbeak. He isn`t a fan of being in a crate, but once he`s out, he`s a friendly boy who enjoys being close to his people. He can be a little unsure at first, so he`ll appreciate someone who is patient and willing to let him settle in at his own pace. With a little time, kindness, and reassurance, Buckbeak is ready to build trust and show off the loving companion he can be.Buckbeak is looking for a home that will give him the TLC he`s been missing and help him continue learning and growing. If you`re searching for a gentle, fluffy friend who just wants to be near you, Buckbeak may be the perfect match. This pet is available for adoption on 7.7.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Weasel, a twelve-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix weighing 10 pounds.Don`t let the name fool you—Weasel is all heart! With his long legs, delicate features, and expressive eyes, he looks more like a tiny baby deer than a dog, and his adorable looks are matched by an even sweeter personality.Weasel came to the shelter with another dog, Taco, after they were surrendered to animal control from a home with unsanitary living conditions. While they arrived together, they`re doing well in separate kennels and are happy to be adopted into separate homes.Despite his difficult past, Weasel hasn`t let it dim his spirit. He`s a friendly, outgoing senior who still has plenty of love to give and enjoys soaking up attention from everyone he meets. One of his favorite ways to ask for pets is by standing up and doing the cutest little dance on his back legs—it`s impossible not to smile when you see it! His playful, silly personality proves that age is just a number. As a senior, Weasel is looking for a family that understands his golden years come with a few extra needs. He`ll benefit from routine veterinary care, a comfortable place to rest, and all the love and patience that every senior dog deserves. If you`re looking for a charming, affectionate companion with a gentle soul, a goofy streak, and a heart full of love, Weasel is ready to leave his past behind and spend his retirement being cherished by a family of his own. This pet is available for adoption on 7.7.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS offers a `Play Date` program?Whether you are interested in adopting or just want to hang out with a furry friend, it`s a fun way to spend an hour, an afternoon or even a couple days.
