Story
Butternut is a cautious young gal looking for a home with a family who will give her time and space to settle in. She spent about a month and a half in a foster home- here’s what we learned:- She’s a quiet houseguest but will bark her happiness in anticipation of dinner - She did well with other resident dogs - She is non- destructive and well- behaved when left home alone- She is house trained- She likes to catch treats in the air, enjoys snuffle mats and is curious and playfulHere’s what one of Butternut’s volunteer advocates said:“I worked with Butternut this morning. She has made clear progress. Walks well but a little slowly. She was willing to approach for treats held in my fingers and with some work I was able to establish touch and get some scratches in. Good walk back and easy unleash.”Butternut shares her kennel with another PACC pup and would likely do best with a confident furry friend to help her adjust in her future home. When meeting other dogs in playgroup she’s been social, tolerant and easygoing. Please ask about Butternut today!

Story
Meet Jasmine (A850675)! Brought to PACC as a stray, she didn’t thrive in the shelter environment, but she’s happy and gaining confidence in a foster home. Jasmine loves other dogs, walks, getting belly rubs, snoozing in the sun, and trying to get her new dog friend Molly to zoom with her. Jasmine is playful, affectionate, gentle, silly, easy-going, and well-behaved. She greets every day with a waggy tail and eagerness to spend time and play with people and dogs.Jasmine is fully housebroken, has excellent house manners, and is generally relaxed indoors unless it’s time to screen mail deliveries! She is a bit hesitant around cars and new people, is leery of being corralled, and needs to be homed with people who respect her initial boundaries. She also gets anxious when people leave the house, although she is not destructive. She is working on some basic commands and leash manners. If interested in learning more and meeting Jasmine (and who wouldn`t be?), please email pacc.adoptafoster@pima.gov.

Story
What did Cher, Bon Jovi, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Madonna, David Bowie, Nikki Sixx, and maybe you or your mom have in common in the 80s? Bigger-than-life hairstyles! In the 80s, hairspray, blow-dryers, mousse and teasing combs were essentials for looking your best. While most of us left that trend in the past where it belonged, our pup Ruby hasn’t gotten the memo. Her motto is “Big hair-don’t care!” She is quite a beloved character around here, with volunteers sharing:“I was recently talking to another volunteer about Ruby and they said she looks like she just woke up, and they were right- Ruby has a serious case of bedhead! She`s super fluffy and always looks a bit like she just rolled out of bed. Ruby is friendly, easy to walk, and has bigger hair than someone with, well… really big hair! This girl is a nice compact size and is a fun little companion.”“I walked Ruby while two other volunteers shadowed me. She seemed comfortable rolling around with an entourage. She actually didn`t pay much attention to us because she walked with her held high, sniffing the breeze and taking in the sights around her. Overall, she was easy to leash, handle and walk!”Ruby has been playful and social when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Ruby is a petite pup with big hair and a big personality! She’d love to add you to her entourage- ask to meet her today!

Story
Kaida is an adorable boy with the cutest droopy lips and squishy-looking snoot. He’s a brave pup who was pretty uncertain when he came into the shelter and who is learning routines and expectations. He’s a smart pup, having learned how to walk on a leash since coming to us. With the help of a compassionate, loving family, he will continue to learn more and more very good doggy skills! During a very brief stay in a home Kaida did well with another resident dog and was described as friendly and affectionate when he feels safe. He’ll need time to learn about life in a home, but is a smart and sweet boy who deserves time to do that. Kaida’s volunteer friends applaud his progress, saying the following:“Kaida walked well this morning. We sat down in the grass and he accepted some touch and scratches. We had a good walk back to the shelter.”“I sat with Kaida for a while in a play yard today. He came to sniff me and booped me with his nose, but was too nervous to take treats. His short walk back to the kennel was definitely a lot better.”Kaida has been tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup and enjoyed exploring the yard. He’ll likely benefit from a confident dog friend in a new home to help him learn the ropes. Kaida is looking for a patient family who will give him positive reinforcement and help him gain confidence. If you’re a sucker for a super cute mug and a shy baby who could use some extra love and time, look no further than Kaida!
