IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Rosie is shy and fearful around humans and is bonded to Sammy. She requires patience, love, and guidance to help continue to show her how to properly dog and that the world is not as scary as it seems. Rosie is a very shy girl and is still feeling a little scared of humans. She does like to be pet and having her neck scratched. Her personality shows when she gets outside and argues with the squirrels but it takes a little while for her to get used to coming inside the house. Rosie has seen a lot in her life and has some trust issues with humans. She has never shown any aggression and will melt when she gets brushed or pet. Like her siblings, she will take some time adjusting to a new home and may never totally come out of her shell. She would be good in a home with a fenced yard or warm outside space and no cats. Rosie came into rescue with her two friends, who are also female chow mixes. All three were very scared of humans and refused to even be touched. Again, there was no aggression - but they would run away in fear if humans tried to approach. They have been fostered with our director's family for last couple of years while they have gone through a very slow introduction to the good side of humans. While they are now ready to find their forever homes, they do need adopters who are willing to take the time to win their trust and won't expect them to be going for walks around the neighborhood anytime soon. These girls can only go to homes with fully fenced backyards and very patient humans. These girls will not be attending our adoption events and will require meet and greets at the foster's home. ADOPTION FEE: $75 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event. Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications. We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend! All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! She had a rough beginning and has come a very long way learning how to be a dog and trusting humans. She went from cowering in corners and kennels to spinning excitedly when we greet her in the morning. Sammy has never showed any aggression to humans and just melts when getting brushed. She is full of curiosity and loves exploring and chasing the squirrels. Sammy will take some time and patience from a special human to get used to her surroundings and will need a fenced yard as she is not very comfortable on a leash. Story
Moose is an 8 month old chow chow husky puppy, he is good with dogs and cats. He needs a person/family with experience with chows to work through his protective nature and separation anxiety from his person. Moose prefers to have a strong bond with one person and be a part of their life and routine in every way. Moose will do best in a home with someone at home for most of the day and a home without kids. Moose has lived with dogs and cats and is ok with both, he just needs his alone time as well. Very true to a chow moose is not a super high energy dog, I say he gets his husky zoomies right around meal and and right before bed for 5-10 minutes and that’s usually the biggest burst of energy during the day. Moose has a very thick coat and should not be outside for more than 20 minutes when it is over 75 degrees outside. Moose just needs a forever home. What we know: Mom and 5 puppies transferred from Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley in NM. Shelter notes say someone found them on her property in a box and surrendered them. From the foster: Onyx Onyx - the Greek symbol for protection, to guard against negative energy and evil. After getting to know little Onyx, it’s clear she has absorbed this part of her character from her mother, Mama Shadow. Onyx is the perfect blend of pure puppy love mixed with curiosity, playfulness and observation. Out of the five siblings, Onyx is the one who likes to sit back to watch her brothers and sister until she’s ready to join in the fun. She loves a lap nap and will let you know if she’s ready for some human attention. Onyx loves to crawl into the crook of my neck and snuggle up, you just need to watch your hair, it’s one of her favorite snacks, haha. When I walk in the room, Onyx is the first one who wants to be picked up and quickly finds peace in my arms. From the foster: Moon Mr. Moon is a sweet little boy with a big personality. He’s almost all black with just a few white hairs on his chest, which helps me tell him apart from his brother. Moon’s coat is super soft and his little puppy rolls are to die for. Moon loves nothing more than to sit on my lap while his siblings are playing around us. He’ll give a good face lick if given the option and truly loves his people. Moon is curious and a quick learner, always wanting to check out what’s new around him, whether it’s a new toy or a bug in the yard. From the foster: Dusk is the quintessential puppy with all the soft fur and rolls everyone wants. He’s super sweet and loves to play but can also take it easy and rest when it’s time. He will the first one to crawl into my lap while his siblings are eating each other alive, lol. Dusk is great with kids, other dogs and of course, adults. We don’t know how he is with cats because we don’t have any, but he’s so easy going, I can’t imagine he would be anything but curious. Dusk is a fun loving baby boy who is just as happy playing with his siblings as he is hanging with his people. He snuggles up quietly for naps throughout the day and overnight but will need some transition time when he moves to a new family so I would expect an adjustment period, as with any puppy. When Mama Shadow is hanging with her babies, I often find Dusk curling up next to her and falling asleep, it’s really sweet to see.
