Story
Meet Teddy! Teddy is a 1-year-old Chow Chow with a gentle heart and a cautious, sensitive nature. She is still learning that the world can be safe and predictable, and she needs time, patience, and consistency to feel comfortable in new environments (a little bit of chicken or cheese helps!). While very shy at first, she shows small but meaningful signs of trust as she begins to feel secure. Teddy is currently building confidence in shelter care and will thrive in a calm, structured home that allows her to move at her own pace. She is beginning to show interest in other dogs and may benefit from a calm, well-adjusted canine companion who can provide reassurance while respecting her space. Teddy has exhibited significant fear-based behaviors in the shelter environment, including extreme avoidance, resistance to handling, and occasional air snapping when overwhelmed. She is considered a high flight risk requiring structured management, secure containment, and careful, low-pressure handling as she adjusts to a new home. A securely fenced yard with a minimum 6-foot fence is required to support her safety as she continues learning about the world. She is currently receiving behavioral medication to support her progress. Any medication changes must be guided by a veterinarian and should not be adjusted or discontinued without professional oversight. Teddy will do well with an experienced adopter, ideally one familiar with the Chow Chow breed or similar independent, sensitive breeds, who understands the importance of patience, structure, and allowing trust to develop over time. Due to her sensitive nature, Teddy would do best in an adult-only home without young children. A meet-and-greet at the shelter is required to ensure the best match. With calm consistency and respect for her boundaries, Teddy has the potential to continue building confidence and gradually blossom into a more secure companion. ------ Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog. Homes with older children are often a good fit, depending on temperament. To learn more about NMDR and our adoption process, please visit our website.

Story
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Rosie is shy and fearful around humans and is bonded to Sammy. She requires patience, love, and guidance to help continue to show her how to properly dog and that the world is not as scary as it seems. Rosie is a very shy girl and is still feeling a little scared of humans. She does like to be pet and having her neck scratched. Her personality shows when she gets outside and argues with the squirrels but it takes a little while for her to get used to coming inside the house. Rosie has seen a lot in her life and has some trust issues with humans. She has never shown any aggression and will melt when she gets brushed or pet. Like her siblings, she will take some time adjusting to a new home and may never totally come out of her shell. She would be good in a home with a fenced yard or warm outside space and no cats. Rosie came into rescue with her two friends, who are also female chow mixes. All three were very scared of humans and refused to even be touched. Again, there was no aggression - but they would run away in fear if humans tried to approach. They have been fostered with our director's family for last couple of years while they have gone through a very slow introduction to the good side of humans. While they are now ready to find their forever homes, they do need adopters who are willing to take the time to win their trust and won't expect them to be going for walks around the neighborhood anytime soon. These girls can only go to homes with fully fenced backyards and very patient humans. These girls will not be attending our adoption events and will require meet and greets at the foster's home. ADOPTION FEE: $75 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Not every dog attends every adoption event. Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications. We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Petco in Fort Collins (2211 S College Ave. STE 200, Fort Collins, CO 80525)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend! All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Sammy is shy and fearful around humans and is bonded to Rosie. She requires patience, love, and guidance to help continue to show her how to properly dog and that the world is not as scary as it seems. Sammy is so sweet! She had a rough beginning and has come a very long way learning how to be a dog and trusting humans. She went from cowering in corners and kennels to spinning excitedly when we greet her in the morning. Sammy has never showed any aggression to humans and just melts when getting brushed. She is full of curiosity and loves exploring and chasing the squirrels. Sammy will take some time and patience from a special human to get used to her surroundings and will need a fenced yard as she is not very comfortable on a leash. She will do best in a home by herself and no cats. Sammy came into rescue with her two friends, who are also female chow mixes. All three were very scared of humans and refused to even be touched. Again, there was no aggression - but they would run away in fear if humans tried to approach. Story
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING THIS DOG: Roo is shy and fearful around new humans. It can take her some more time to adjust to change and new people/things. Roo will need an adopter with love and patience to help guide her through her journey to her forever home. Roo is quite the character! She came to All Aboard from a hoarding situation with a few of her siblings. She is the leader of the group and loves getting brushed and having her ears and neck scratched. She is not afraid to let you know if something is out of place, just like a typical Chow Chow! She is good with other dogs and has just started playing with toys in the past few months. It wont take her too long to get used to her new home but she will need some patience and attention. Roo came into rescue with her two friends, who are also female chow mixes. All three were very scared of humans and refused to even be touched. Again, there was no aggression - but they would run away in fear if humans tried to approach.
