Story
Meet Kavik, a beautiful 2-year-old, 50 lb. Chow Chow. Kavik already has many positive characteristics but will need an experienced adopter with an adult only home who will understand & meet his unique needs given his breed & experiences in life thus far. Kavik was a stray in Texas for many months, evading all attempts to catch him, until eventually being trapped. During his time on the run, Kavik experienced being hit by a car & negative interactions with other stray dogs. He’s extremely nervous when leaving his foster home. Kavik very much enjoys the dogs of all sizes in his foster home and would love to have a confident friend in his forever home. He showed little interest when briefly exposed to a cat. He's your typical Chow Chow: stubborn, loyal to his people, protective, and wary of strangers. He spends most of his time resting but has the perfect amount of playfulness with toys & other dogs. A fenced in yard is a requirement to adopt Kavik as he's an extreme flight risk.

Story
Hear what Ilona's foster has to say about her! "Meet Ilona! Ilona is a sweet, independent girl who loves the company of other dogs more than anything. She’s happiest when she has a playful canine companion to chase, so she’d thrive in a home with another dog who enjoys an active playmate. If her foster sisters are lounging around, she’ll let them know it’s time to play. In Ilona’s world, playtime is the best time! Though she adores her dog buddies, Ilona is a quiet and low-maintenance companion for people. She’s easy going around kids, but far more interested in playing with dogs than people. She’s an independent pup who prefers to nap solo rather than snuggle. She’s also content entertaining herself with a toy, the broom if you start sweeping, and her own tail! She’s doing great with potty training and will usually let you know when she needs to go outside. She’s crate-trained and a calm passenger on car rides. Ilona’s biggest love (besides dogs) is peanut butter! She’s so in tune with her routine that when she hears a phone alarm, she knows it’s peanut butter time. And if she doesn’t get it right away? Well, Ilona isn’t afraid to be a little diva about it! She also has a picky side. If she doesn’t like a certain food, she’ll be sure to let you know! Smart and observant, she’s picking up basic commands and loves exploring her surroundings. If you have a playful pup looking for a best friend, Ilona might be the perfect fit. Could she be the missing piece in your home?" Please note this pup has some medical conditions that our staff will be happy to speak to you about.

But in order to help me out of here to catch the ride to WI on May 1st and arrive on May 2nd, I need *both* a sponsor, and a WI foster home *or* a WI adopter! I have a place for now, but I can't stay here forever and I am worried. The rescue has put a hold on me to save my spot on the trip up north to WI, but now they need YOUR help to get me there - don't wait!!! Updated: 4/11/26 Dog Name: Sandy Sex: Female Estimated Breed: Chow Chow Mix Approximate Age: 3 months Litter Name: Grease Litter Approximate Weight: 12-14 lbs Spay/Neuter Status: Not yet (too young) Description: This fluffy chunky litter was an unexpected litter, but we want to make sure we give them the best chance at finding their forever families! You will instantly fall in love with these cuddle bugs, they have really great temperaments, and have been socialized well! They are developing their own personalities now and we can't wait to see the amazing dogs they become! Adoption Fee: $650We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time, we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. April 23, 2026, 12:28 am
