This gorgeous boy was believed to be a puppy, he’s actually a very small adult! He’s is playful and gentle with other dogs, he is doing great with the vet crew and will be in foster with a nice family and many grandchildren to play with. He is working on his housetraining and is already crate trained. He also is good with kids and other dogs. He is ready for his new forever home! Adoption Fee: $550We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time, we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. March 28, 2026, 2:32 pm

Story
Be honest, have you ever seen a happier gal?! My name is Emmie and things are finally starting to look up for me. Life on the streets was pretty lonely and uncertain. I didn`t have a place to call home or humans to call my family; I didn`t want to get close to anyone and always had my guard up. Coming to the shelter helped me tear down all of the walls I had spent months building; even I don`t recognize the dog I used to be. And now that I`ve healed myself, I`m ready to love you. My age is as golden as my coat and I`m looking for a quiet retirement home that never runs out of head scratches, keeps the treat jar full and tells me I`m beautiful every single day. I`m ok to share my home with a low key dogs or cats and hoping that you will make the rest of my life, the best of my life.

Story
???? A Little Luck, A Lot of Love — Meet Sarah ????This St. Patrick’s Day, you don’t need a pot of gold to feel rich…You just need the right companion by your side. ???Hello there, I’m Sarah, a 9-year-old female Chow Chow with a calm spirit and a heart full of quiet devotion. While others may chase rainbows, I’m simply searching for a peaceful home where love grows steady and strong — like clovers in the spring. ????I’m not the life of the party — I’m more of a cozy-evening-by-the-fire kind of girl. If your idea of happiness is soft routines, calm energy, and meaningful connection, we might just be each other’s lucky charm.?? Why Sarah is your four-leaf clover:• Calm, gentle, and wonderfully laid back• Deeply loyal once trust is built• Independent but devoted to her person• Thrives on patience, consistency, and respect• Prefers peaceful surroundings over chaos?? Important Lucky Charm Rule:Sarah needs to be the only animal in the home. She wants all the love (and she promises to give it right back). She’s also happiest in a quiet, adult-only home where she can truly relax and be herself.?? St. Patrick’s Day Bonus:? Sarah’s adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED by Puppy Love Pet Styling! ?That means no fee — just a promise of patience, understanding, and a forever commitment. This St. Patrick’s Day, don’t rely on luck. Choose a love that’s steady, loyal, and true. ??Sarah isn’t looking for excitement — she’s looking for her person.?? Ready to meet Sarah?Visit northwoodshumanesociety.org, head to the Adoptable Animals page, and fill out the Dog Adoption Form.?? Already applied?Call 715-634-5394 and let the shelter know you’d like to meet Sarah.?? A little luck. A lot of love. A forever home. ????

Story
Meet Kavik, a beautiful 2-year-old, 50 lb. Chow Chow. Kavik already has many positive characteristics but will need an experienced adopter with an adult only home who will understand & meet his unique needs given his breed & experiences in life thus far. Kavik was a stray in Texas for many months, evading all attempts to catch him, until eventually being trapped. During his time on the run, Kavik experienced being hit by a car & negative interactions with other stray dogs. He’s extremely nervous when leaving his foster home. Kavik very much enjoys the dogs of all sizes in his foster home and would love to have a confident friend in his forever home. He showed little interest when briefly exposed to a cat. He's your typical Chow Chow: stubborn, loyal to his people, protective, and wary of strangers. He spends most of his time resting but has the perfect amount of playfulness with toys & other dogs. A fenced in yard is a requirement to adopt Kavik as he's an extreme flight risk.

Story
Kristoff is being fostered in Ocala FL. Kristoff is a very unique dog and such a juxtaposition! He hates car rides, but loves walks. He is the happiest, sweetest, tail-wagging floof, but is a tough as nails street dog at his core. He is a happy go lucky, friendly guy on one hand, but if he gets contained, he is absolutely frantic to break free. He loves to be with the other dogs, but will be reactive and quickly defensive if startled. His face is greying, but his energy and enthusiasm are still puppy-like with no signs of slowing down (except for some occasional signs of doggy dementia.) He does not tolerate his front paws being touched, but does allow the vet tech to trim his nails, though reluctantly. Surprisingly, he really enjoys being brushed, but no noisy trimmers which makes grooming tricky. Kris’s health is good and he is doing well on that front. He has lost a significant amount of weight and leveled off now, so he is much healthier. He thrives on routine and verbal cues, which he learns easily with repetition. Kristoff is full of contradictions and challenges which will require a special experienced adopter, a lot of patience, work and communication. Although he loves to be with a pack, it is probably easier to acclimate him in a home without any other pets, but older children are ok. Kris would prefer a home with his human home much of the time. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
