Story
Smokey came to us from Lakeshore Humane Society, after being surrendered with her siblings. She's cute as can be, and genuinely enjoys being with people. Her foster shared: "Smokey lived with 3 other dogs and her 4 siblings in her foster home. She loves the company of other dogs and is very confident and independent. She is good with other children, but kids under 5 years old make her nervous. She loves to be outside and to take naps in the grass. Smokey will do best in a home committed to continuing her basic training and socialization, so she can grow into a well-rounded adult dog. If you think Smokey might be the pup for you, please fill out an application! All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://www.sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

Story
Sansa is a loving, 10 year old couch potato who has been living with only 3 legs since the age of 3. Even at this age, she is capable of getting around without any additional help, and that includes staircases and hills. She is completely up to date on all shots, which includes rabies. She is 100% house trained. She is very affectionate and will let just about anyone cuddle. She has been living with a cat and two young children, however we aren't 100% sure if she would do well with a different cat. She is extremely patient with all children. She is very nervous around other dogs. She does not require a kennel, but can tolerate one. If you give her a comfy bed she will stay on it all day. She is not a picky eater. Scared of thunder and lightning, but will try and guard you from it. Our living situation has changed to the point where we can't give her the best life possible. We just want to see her go to a great home.

At this time, we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. May 13, 2026, 12:42 pm

He has a very relaxed, easygoing personality and is happiest staying close by your side, exploring the world at a slow pace. While he’ll occasionally play with other dogs, he’s more of a companion pup than a high-energy playmate. He appears to be potty trained with zero accidents so far and has excellent manners. He’s not mouthy during play and hasn’t gotten into any mischief, even when not crated. He’s already showing how smart he is too, with great recall once he learned his name, and he knows “sit” while currently working on “lay down. This boy absolutely loves belly scratches (and will gently guide your hand if you miss the spot!) and is very food motivated, which will make continued training a breeze. He also enjoys entertaining himself with his favorite bouncy ball. He can be a bit fearful of strangers at first, so he’ll need a home willing to give him time to warm up and continue positive, patient socialization at his pace. With that support, he’s sure to build confidence and thrive. With his calm nature, he may do well in a home with cats, though he hasn’t been formally tested yet. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion who just wants to be near you, he could be the perfect fit. Story
Be honest, have you ever seen a happier gal?! My name is Emmie and things are finally starting to look up for me. Life on the streets was pretty lonely and uncertain. I didn`t have a place to call home or humans to call my family; I didn`t want to get close to anyone and always had my guard up. Coming to the shelter helped me tear down all of the walls I had spent months building; even I don`t recognize the dog I used to be. And now that I`ve healed myself, I`m ready to love you. My age is as golden as my coat and I`m looking for a quiet retirement home that never runs out of head scratches, keeps the treat jar full and tells me I`m beautiful every single day. I`m ok to share my home with a low key dogs or cats and hoping that you will make the rest of my life, the best of my life.

Story
Meet Kavik, a beautiful 2-year-old, 50 lb. Chow Chow. Kavik already has many positive characteristics but will need an experienced adopter with an adult only home who will understand & meet his unique needs given his breed & experiences in life thus far. Kavik was a stray in Texas for many months, evading all attempts to catch him, until eventually being trapped. During his time on the run, Kavik experienced being hit by a car & negative interactions with other stray dogs. He’s extremely nervous when leaving his foster home. Kavik very much enjoys the dogs of all sizes in his foster home and would love to have a confident friend in his forever home. He showed little interest when briefly exposed to a cat. He's your typical Chow Chow: stubborn, loyal to his people, protective, and wary of strangers. He spends most of his time resting but has the perfect amount of playfulness with toys & other dogs. A fenced in yard is a requirement to adopt Kavik as he's an extreme flight risk.
