Story
Eva lived in an assisted living facility with her beloved Papa. After he passed, another resident tried to care for her, but it quickly became too much. When the family reached out to us, we knew right away that this sweet girl belonged with Tails of Gray. 8-year-old Eva is a mellow, house-trained little lady who loves to cuddle, gets along beautifully with both people and dogs, and is happiest snuggled on the couch surrounded by a mountain of blankies. Aside from a heart murmur and minor arthritis, she is considered healthy. She arrived a bit underweight at 12 lbs, but she’s steadily filling out. Since joining us, Eva has truly blossomed — even showing a cute, playful side we hadn’t seen before. She’s ready for the next special chapter of her life and can’t wait to meet her forever family.

Chihuahua Pug

Female, Senior

Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Turbina came into the shelter with her four siblings after her parents left the country and the remaining family member was unable to care for them. She is 10 years old, weighs 16 pounds, and has quickly made herself right at home in foster care. Turbina has already shown us she’s a champion sleeper, an enthusiastic eater, and a world class snorer. While she can be a little shy at first, Turbina is incredibly sweet once she knows she’s safe and cared for. She is really starting to come out of her shell, seeking out her foster family for affection, following her foster mom around the house, and happily joining in on little adventures. She loves sleeping on the bed, is eating well, and is even beginning to ask for walks. Turbina is also learning house training and doing great. She will thrive in a calm, quiet home without young children where she can continue to build confidence and feel secure. She is scheduled for cherry eye surgery on April 14 and will be ready to head to her forever and ever home afterward.

Hope

Chihuahua

Female, Senior
Livermore, CA
Size
(when grown) Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
Details
Good with dogs, Good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Hope came to Tails of Gray as a timid and frightened little girl who was overwhelmed by the shelter environment. Once she arrived in her loving foster home, her true personality began to shine. At approximately 9 years old and now down to 14.5 pounds, Hope has been doing wonderfully on her weight loss journey. She weighed 18 pounds when she entered the shelter and has made great progress. With the extra weight coming off, she has more energy, enjoys her daily walks, and has even discovered the joy of occasional zoomies. Hope is one of the easiest dogs her foster mom has ever cared for. She loves cozying up in her bed, often tucked under a blanket, and enjoys spending quiet time beside her people on the couch or bed. While she can be independent, she has become increasingly affectionate and now happily seeks out snuggles and even gives kisses. She enjoys short walks, loves tennis balls and toys, and gets especially excited at mealtime. Hope lives peacefully with both large and small dogs, as well as cats. Over the past month, she has made great progress in learning to trust and be loved. She now greets her foster mom excitedly when she comes home and continues to gain confidence every day. She is still working on her house manners and is making steady progress. Hope is a gem. She is a sweet, gentle companion who would be perfectly happy spending her days snuggled up beside her favorite person. She will bring comfort, love, and happiness to a very lucky family. (Hope will be ready to go home after her pending bladder stone surgery).
