Story
Hi Im Rafael. My mom Candy and I came from a hoarding and breeding situation where we didnt get to experience much of the world. When Desert Paws Sanctuary rescued us while helping the elderly woman we lived with, I was so scared. I didnt know how to walk on a leash, and even being outside felt unfamiliar to me. Everything was new. But thanks to my amazing fosters, Im starting to understand what it feels like to be safe. Every day I come out of my shell a little more. Ive learned that I love being around people, laying next to them, and soaking up all the affection I can get. Im a good boy with a gentle heart. I was just never shown love before. Now all I want is a family to call my own. Please visit our website desertpawssanctuary.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Story
Hi Im Candy. For a long time, my world was very small. I came from a hoarding and breeding situation alongside my son, Rafael. When Desert Paws Sanctuary stepped in to help the elderly woman caring for us, they quickly realized we had never really experienced life outside of that environment. I was terrified. I didnt know how to walk on a leash. I didnt understand the outside world. Everything felt scary and unfamiliar. But then I went to my foster home, and slowly things started to change. My fosters have shown me patience, kindness, and love. Now Im learning that people can be safe. I love being close to my humans, following them around, and just sitting next to them quietly. After everything Ive been through, all I really want is love and comfort. And for the first time in my life I finally have hope that Ill have that forever. Story
15-year-old Roger was surrendered to the San Diego Humane Society when the only family he had ever known moved away and didn't take him along. He weighs 12 lbs., and every ounce of him is sweetness and love. Roger lived in a Foster home for a month after becoming a Frosted Face, and this helped us learn a lot about his personality, behavior in a home, and how he does living with another dog. (Spoiler alert: Roger is a superstar!) Roger's foster mom shares: “After a month of fostering Roger, I don’t know why he is still waiting for his forever home. He is the sweetest, cutest guy ever! When Roger first came to our home, he was wandering around bumping into this and didn’t know what to do, but now he is aging in reverse! Here's what I've learned about Roger: * when he knows you're his person, he gets so excited when he sees you’re home! And who wouldn’t love a sweetheart greeting you after a long day at work? * he is great with dogs, big or small, cats, children and small animals! He is the perfect little package! * he walks wonderfully on a leash, and when he kicks it into gear, his ears just flop around super adorably! * he is good about being groomed * he rides nicely in the car * when he is home by himself, he settles after a little bit and just goes about his business * he is a foodie! He loves bully sticks from Tuesdays natural dog company * he gives off a puppy vibe with his adorable face and his random spurts of energy! * in the evening, I rock him like a baby, which he absolutely loves. Roger is a very special sweetheart who just wants love and closeness with his person. Right now, he’s patiently waiting for his forever family—someone who will give him a cozy couch, gentle care, and all the love he deserves in his golden years." If you’re looking for a loyal little bestie who will fill your days with love, companionship, and cuddles, Roger is waiting for you! To meet Roger, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org
