Story
Meet Gunner — The Gentle, Shy Sweetheart!Gunner is a Spaniel/Beagle mix with a soft soul and a loving heart. He may be shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes one of the kindest, snuggliest boys around. Cuddles and treats are definitely the way to his heart! For treats, Gunner will show off all his manners — he can sit, shake, high‑five, and lie down like a pro. He loves playing with other dogs and is curious (in a good way!) about cats. Gunner truly enjoys being around people and loves being the center of attention once he feels comfortable. He’s potty trained, kennel trained, and absolutely loves going for walks. Young kids make him nervous, so a calmer, older home would be the best fit for him.Why you’ll love Gunner:• Sweet, gentle, and very loving• Knows multiple commands• Enjoys other dogs and is cat‑curious• Potty and kennel trained• Loves cuddles, treats, and exploring on walksGunner is searching for a patient, loving forever home where he can feel safe and shine. Come meet him — he just might steal your heart.

Name: Jeffrey Breed: Cocker Spaniel Sex: Male Age: 2 years Spayed/Neutered: Will be neutered/spayed prior to adoption Vaccinations: Age appropriate vaccines will be up to date - all vaccinations required after adoption are the responsibility of the adopter. Heartworm: Negative Housetrained: Getting there. Microchipped: Yes Adoption Fee/Donation: $500 Adoption Application Link: https://form.jotform.com/241517986810160 Important!! Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he’s older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy’s life. Do you have the time? Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter, heart worm test if applicable) microchip, worming and flea/tick/heart worm (if applicable) preventatives. Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.

Story
Meet Autumn! Autumn is a gentle, soulful 8-year-old Cocker Spaniel weighing about 20 pounds who has come a long way from her past life in a puppy mill. It’s clear she hasn’t always known kindness or stability, but despite that, she is incredibly loving and just wants to be close to her people. She is the kind of dog who will quietly make her way over, rest her head beside you, and look up for affection, or roll onto her back for belly rubs with the sweetest little trust. She forms deep bonds and truly thrives on that connection—she just wants to feel safe, loved, and reassured. Autumn does wonderfully with other dogs and coexists very easily with them, though her heart really belongs to her person. She’ll happily climb right over another dog just to get closer to you, which perfectly sums up how much she craves love and comfort. Because of her past, Autumn does carry some anxiety, and at times it can take over. This shows up as pacing and restlessness, especially when confined to a crate where she has difficulty settling. It’s not destructive behavior—just a reflection of a life where she likely never had the chance to truly relax and feel secure. The good news is that we are actively working on a plan to help Autumn feel more comfortable and confident in her environment. This includes structure, routine, and medication to support her anxiety as she continues to adjust and decompress. With the right support, she is already showing that she can settle, especially in the evenings when she’ll curl up peacefully next to her person. Autumn would do best in a calm, patient home where someone is around most of the time. A work-from-home or retired household would be ideal, as she finds comfort in companionship and consistency. She’s not a dog who wants to be left alone all day—she’s a dog who just wants to finally feel like she belongs. She is still working on potty training while adjusting to prescription C/D food to manage urinary crystals, and she continues to make progress with consistency and support. At times, her anxiety can even cause her to lose focus on eating, so her foster is helping her build a routine and regain a healthy weight. What makes Autumn so special is her quiet resilience. Even after a difficult start in life, she has so much love to give. There is a softness to her—a gentle, hopeful spirit—that just wants someone to show her that the world can be safe and kind. Autumn is looking for a calm, committed home that will continue the work we’ve started—giving her patience, reassurance, and the stability she’s always deserved. In return, she will offer a deeply devoted, affectionate companionship that is truly something special. Autumn is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
