Story
Lucy Lou🐾, a 5-year old, 17lb Cocker Spaniel who is learning to feel safe & loved with family. Lucy Lou is a shy, gentle girl who is still getting used to trusting humans. Lucy was a little nervous to be held & cuddled when first arriving into foster, but has improved so much. With a little time & patience, she is sure to melt your heart. Lucy gets along well with other dogs but hasn’t been around cats. Lucy would fit best with older children as she continues to build her confidence. She is crate trained and working on house training. Leash training is still a work in progress. At this time, Lucy does require a fenced yard for her safety. Because she didn’t have a good diet earlier in life, Lucy has had multiple teeth extracted. Lucy Lou is looking for a patient home that will give her time to blossom. With a little understanding and a lot of love, Lucy will ultimately be your best friend for life. Lucy Lou is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Gunner — The Gentle, Shy Sweetheart!Gunner is a Spaniel/Beagle mix with a soft soul and a loving heart. He may be shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes one of the kindest, snuggliest boys around. Cuddles and treats are definitely the way to his heart! For treats, Gunner will show off all his manners — he can sit, shake, high‑five, and lie down like a pro. He loves playing with other dogs and is curious (in a good way!) about cats. Gunner truly enjoys being around people and loves being the center of attention once he feels comfortable. He’s potty trained, kennel trained, and absolutely loves going for walks. Young kids make him nervous, so a calmer, older home would be the best fit for him.Why you’ll love Gunner:• Sweet, very loving• Knows multiple commands• Enjoys playing fetch, and carrying ball around• Potty and kennel trained• Loves treats, and exploring on walksGunner is searching for a patient, loving forever home where he can feel safe and shine. Come meet him — he just might steal your heart.

Story
Milo is a 10 month old Spaniel. Loves to play, cuddle, and keep rabbits away from his yard. Kennel trained. Very good with bath time, no complaints from groomers regarding grooming or being around other animals. He currently lives with another dog and young children in the house and has no issues playing with either. He loves being outside No bite history or violent nature. No signs of resource or food guarding. He was adopted later than most (around 5 months old) and has a hard time letting go of some behavioral issues as a result. He is very aloof, and seems to not want to learn. The two main issues with Milo are: 1) Difficulty potty training. He may be better suited for a home with a fenced in yard or someone willing to try and litter box/indoor bathroom train him. 2) Does not respect personal space when excited/playing. Nothing malicious just energetic and jumpy.Needing to rehome due a combination of new baby coming, and moving.

Story
Chestnut is a 12+ year old male cocker spaniel whose life story could have made him bitter… but instead, it made him even sweeter.   This gentle senior was once someone’s devoted companion, the kind of dog who quietly follows you from room to room just to be near. Tragically, he was found abandoned on a busy road with a painful, eye injury, and struck by a car. Despite everything he has endured, Chestnut greets the world with softness, trust, and a tail that still wants to wag.   His damaged eye has been removed, and he’s recovering beautifully after hip surgery. When he was found, his coat was painfully matted to the skin and he had to be shaved down. The good news? His soft, beautiful fur will grow back, and each day he grows stronger and more comfortable.   What hasn’t changed is his spirit.   Chestnut is calm, affectionate, and very gentle. He loves cozy dog beds, soft voices, and simply being near his humans. He’s past the hustle and bustle of youth and is ready for the quiet joys of senior life: sunny naps, slow strolls, and resting his head on a loving lap. He doesn’t ask for much - just safety, patience, and a loving home where he can finally exhale.   Chestnut is good with other quiet dogs that allow him space as he prefers to keep to himself. He is good with cats. Due to his age and injury a home without young children is preferred. Chestnut is crate/pen trained and keeps it clean. When his beautiful coat grows in he will require regular professional grooming to keep him free of matting and his paws from slipping on the floor.    If you are ready to give a deserving old soul the comfort he’s always given to others, Chestnut is waiting to glow quietly beside you for the rest of his golden years. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   March 7, 2026, 9:24 am
