Story
Tucker is the biggest lover you'll ever meet.  He LOVES to cuddle, is great on a leash, loves people, kids and other dogs.  His biggest passion is bird chasing.  Tucker is a Golden Retriever/Spaniel mix, born in September 2024. Coming from a shelter, he was a very anxious boy when he was first adopted.  He prefers to have you home and by his side.  In the time he has been at his current home, he has become less anxious.  He needs someone willing to help him continue working on his issues.  Tucker has some separation anxiety when left alone.  Although he is not destructive in the house when left alone, he will occasionally potty.  This has gotten progressively better since first adopted and he has been known to wear a belly-band from time to time to help with this.  Tucker really doesn't love to spend time in a kennel, so he needs someone that is home most of the time - at least until he is trained and comfortable in his new environment. Tucker does not like riding in the car.  He will get in right away wagging his tail, but as soon as the door shuts - it's full panic mode.  He LOVES long walks and hikes! TRAINING - Tucker knows sit, lay down, rollover, shake and wait.  He has the ability to learn much more with someone who has the time to teach him. The PERFECT Home  Someone who works from home and needs a snuggle buddy Someone who is active and likes to be outside or even someone willing to train him  MUST have a fenced back yard - he loves to run, bird watch and just be free when outside Another dog in the home would be okay, he does great with the other dog in the home currently Separate place for dining so he feels comfortable while eating He loves kids and people Not sure about cats in the home - he might be better in a cat-free home Someone who is patient and willing to work with him   The suggested adoption donation for Tucker is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
