Story
Sarg is a friendly Golden Cocker Spaniel (b. Oct 2015) and he needs a new place because his owner is ill and no longer able to care for him.  Sarg is friendly with other dogs, new people and kids of all ages.  He gets excited when visitors stop by, but will eventually settle down.  He is crate trained and sleeps in his kennel all night.  Sarg loves to play fetch and be chased as he loves to run.  A fenced yard for him would be preferred.  He is leash trained and knows a few commands.  He gets a little nervous during car rides and huddles on the floor.  He has never been around cats. Sarg enjoys a good bone to chew on now and then.  He is not afraid of thunder or fireworks at all.  Apply now for Sarg to be your new companion! The suggested adoption donation for Sarg is $365, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Introducing Frog, a Cocker Spaniel/Chihuahua mix, born April 2019.  Frog gets along with dogs, cats and older kids (age 5+).  He loves to give kisses and have a lap to sit on.  He would prefer to have another dog or cat around (his brother Casper needs a new place if you're looking for two).  The perfect home for Frog would be with someone who has time to play with him and has a fenced yard with room to run and a spot to bask in the sunshine.  Frog is crate trained, but he is not a big fan of spending time in it - he would rather hang out with you if you're home. The suggested adoption donation for Frog is $375, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Story
Frog is a 5 year old cocker spaniel and chihuahua mix. We adopted him in 2020 in Columbus, NE. He is a sweet, loyal boy who loves attention and affection, though he has a bit of separation anxiety that we have been working with him on since we adopted him. He’s smart as a whip and knows a whole list of tricks including sit, down, jump, paw, speak, and more. As you can see in the pictures, he has a case of “cherry eye” that we have had looked at by the vets and is of no concern. It comes down to aesthetics and doesn’t impact his quality of life. We’re looking to rehome home due to changes in life coming to us in the near future. He’s not very good around small children (3 and under), but does well with older kids and adults. We would prefer him go to a home that either has no kids or older kids for his sake. We would like him to be rehomed with our other dog, Casper, since they do very well together and we’re not sure if they would do alright separated.
