We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Meet Basil!Believe it or not, when Basil came to us, he was Mr. Grumpy Pants. He cursed dishonor on all of us. He probably cussed us out in a dozen different languages. He was one tough cookie...with good reason. He came to us from the same home as Saffron in some not so great condition. He was better off than Saffron, but not by much. He was severely, painfully matted and covered in skin infections and his ears were horrifically dirty and infected. We don't blame him for being grumpy. Basil now? Almost a completely different dog.He loves chin scratches and belly rubs and loves going for walks. He's a very, very smart boy that knows a ton of cues and is eager to please. He loves plush toys. He hasn't shown much interest in treats yet so he's either very picky or just not interested at all. Basil is about five years old, is a cocker spaniel mix, and weighs around 27lbs. He's an energetic, happy boy that is curious about new people and will offer some sniffs and tail wags when saying hello. He did previously live with at least one other dog. We can cat test him upon request. He would do best in an adult-only (or teenagers and adults) home that has the time and patience to show him that humans aren't ALL bad. He will need regular grooming and plenty of exercise. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175

Story
MEET MAX!*My Adoption Fee is waived thanks to the Jeff`s Fund*Calling all cocker spaniel enthusiasts! As you well now - the Cocker Spaniel breed is a special one and Max is no different! He`s a sweet, playful and handsome boy! Max is 8 years old and sadly his owner passed away so he is now looking for a second chance at a loving home in his older age. But don`t let his age deceive you - Max enjoys lots of different activities like sniffari walks, hikes, or simple neighborhood walks. Max`s big claim to fame is that he is very house trained! He knows how to indicate that he needs to go out and can get anxious if he has to wait to long to go. Max also enjoys the company of other dogs and going on social walks, however he prefers to be the only dog in the home. He has a habit of going up to every dog to say hello and when he isn`t able to, he barks as if it works to get him closer to the dog! This can be disconcerting to people but he`s been doing great learning that he sometimes can`t greet a dog and he has to be patient or ignore them. Max loves to play with toys and greet you with them when you return home. He is a spectacular napper - he will nap just about anywhere and sprawl out on a cool floor when its hot. Overall Max is a love and would make a fantastic canine companion so if he sounds like the dog for you - come by our Boston location to meet him!Max is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on Max or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.

Story
Penny is a 5 year old cocker spaniel mix. She is a loyal and sweet dog who loves being with her people. She tends to be nervous in new situations and around new people.. it can take her some time to warm up and build trust. She can be reactive when she is feeling vulnerable. She would do best in a house by herself or with another dog who could help her with her confidence. She does not do well with cats or children. It truly breaks our hearts to have to rehome Penny. She was our baby for the past 4 years, but we now have a 1 year old and she is not doing well with him. We cant take the risk, unfortunately. We really want to make sure she goes to a good home where she will get just as much love and attention as we were previously able to give her. In the right environment she is an amazing companion.
