Lily is proof that not every dog needs to be the center of attention to steal your heart. After losing the person she loved, Lily is searching for another family to call her own. She's handled this huge life change with quiet grace and is ready to find the peaceful forever home she deserves.Lily has a calm, independent personality that's incredibly easy to live with. She's perfectly content doing her own thing, but when she's ready for affection, she'll happily come over for cuddles. She's the kind of companion who simply enjoys sharing life with you without asking for much in return. She's wonderfully well-mannered and house trained. In fact, Lily has the sweetest way of letting you know she needs to go outside. She'll quietly walk to the door and do little circles until someone notices. It's just one of the many charming things about her!Lily gets along beautifully with other dogs and previously lived with a cat before coming into rescue, so she already knows how to share her home with both canine and feline friends. At around 10 pounds, Lily is the perfect little sidekick for someone looking for a gentle, low-maintenance companion with a heart full of love.Lily is currently being fostered in Bryan, Texas, but don't let distance stop you. We offer nationwide transport to the nearest major city at no additional cost, making it easy for the right family to welcome her home, no matter where you live.Nationwide transport available, thanks to our Flight Transport partners with SWATT Transport and that flies in cabin with Southwest AirlinesDog adoptions are $250, and if you need nationwide transport, it's an extra $250 for the flight and all materials needed.

Story
Est DOB: 1/24/24 Weight: 10lbs   Colby is a charming Chihuahua / Cocker Spaniel mix (we think) with the softest curls you've ever felt and a heart that's just as sweet. Colby came into rescue with Bella after their family made the difficult decision to surrender them when they could no longer afford their care. As the father of puppies Beenie and Barbee, Colby has already done his part raising a family. Now he's ready for a forever home where he can simply be someone's beloved companion. When Colby first arrived in foster care, he was understandably nervous and unsure of his new surroundings. After a few days of patience and reassurance, his true personality began to shine. Today, he's a loving, playful little guy who enjoys being close to his people and soaking up all the attention he can get. One of Colby 's favorite things in the world is snuggling. Whether he's stretched out beside you on the couch or keeping you company while you work, he thrives on companionship and affection. During the day, you'll often find him snoozing contentedly on a dog bed in his foster mom's office. At night, he happily joins his people on the couch for quality cuddle time. He's also very food-motivated, which has helped him adjust well to his foster home's routines and training. Colby has a medium energy level and tends to follow the mood of the household. When it's time to play, he's happy to join in. When everyone is relaxing, he's equally content to settle down nearby and enjoy the quiet. Colby loves spending time outside on a warm day. He loves stretching out on the deck, scooting his face along the surface, rolling onto his back, and soaking up every bit of sunshine he can find. He's making good progress with potty training and only has occasional accidents in his foster home. Colby sleeps quietly in his kennel at night and can often be found resting comfortably in his crate when his foster family is away. Tell him, "Go to your room," offer a treat, and he'll happily trot right in. Like many dogs experiencing a big life change, Colby is still working through a few fears. Leashes can be intimidating, and car rides currently make him nervous, causing some panting and whimpering. With patience, encouragement, and continued exposure, he's already showing that he's willing to learn and trust. Colby has done well with children as young as 9 years old, though he'll appreciate a family willing to give him a little time to settle in and feel secure. Colby currently lives in a foster home with several other small dogs and gets along well with most canine friends. If you're looking for a gentle soul with adorable curls, a loving heart, and a talent for turning sunny afternoons into pure happiness, Colby may be the perfect addition to your family. ☀️   Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at   https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1     $200 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed, age,  and size categorizations are estimates.    If transporting out of state to available locations, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes. August 22, 2026, 4:21 am
