Story
Mikey was found in Baytown Texas by a good samaratin who found him badley hurt after a dog fight and turned into the Baytown shelter. The shelter needed a rescue to jump in and help care for him and the Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas took him in. After his wounds were treated we also found out he was Heartworm positive and he has gone through the Heartworm protocal and is now HW free. He would do best in a home where he may have another doggie companion and will do great with kids young or old. He is a sweet, frisky affectionate guy who just adores being with his people. He loves to hang explore out in the back yard and would love to have someone who can take him on walks. He is the complete package and will be your best friend for life. Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas is located in the Houston metro area. If interested in Mikey, please complete an application on our website: cockerkids.org

Story
Ariel is a young, beautiful female – a hot commodity! Ariel as had a several people interested in her, none have been the perfect environment for her to thrive. When she arrived last summer, she was one of the most frightened, skittish dogs we have ever seen. It took her 3+ months to adjust to life in here. She is still skittish and frightens easily. It took her months to come to me when I called. She still stiffens when picked up and doesn’t really like to sit in my lap. On the other hand, she is always approaching me for petting and attention. She hates being on a leash – goes down to the ground in protest or tries to bolt. She will do best in a home where there are other doggies to mingle with and a calm secure environement. There is a long list of the characteristics which would make the perfect home for Ariel. She has made so much progress since she arrived. We know the perfect home is out there, it is just taking time to find it. Go to www.cockerkids.org to apply.

Story
We are overwhelmed with life and he deserves better than we can provide. Remi was born in our home Valentine’s Day 2017. He is cute & playful. He has enjoyed playing with his sister and is used to several animals and people in the home. Our busy schedules no longer foster the best environment for an indoor dog and we have already rehired 1 dog. He is kennel trained and has used belly bands as well.

Story
Est DOB: 1/24/24 Weight: 10lbs   Colby is a charming Chihuahua / Cocker Spaniel mix (we think) with the softest curls you've ever felt and a heart that's just as sweet. Colby came into rescue with Bella after their family made the difficult decision to surrender them when they could no longer afford their care. As the father of puppies Beenie and Barbee, Colby has already done his part raising a family. Now he's ready for a forever home where he can simply be someone's beloved companion. When Colby first arrived in foster care, he was understandably nervous and unsure of his new surroundings. After a few days of patience and reassurance, his true personality began to shine. Today, he's a loving, playful little guy who enjoys being close to his people and soaking up all the attention he can get. One of Colby 's favorite things in the world is snuggling. Whether he's stretched out beside you on the couch or keeping you company while you work, he thrives on companionship and affection. During the day, you'll often find him snoozing contentedly on a dog bed in his foster mom's office. At night, he happily joins his people on the couch for quality cuddle time. He's also very food-motivated, which has helped him adjust well to his foster home's routines and training. Colby has a medium energy level and tends to follow the mood of the household. When it's time to play, he's happy to join in. When everyone is relaxing, he's equally content to settle down nearby and enjoy the quiet. Colby loves spending time outside on a warm day. He loves stretching out on the deck, scooting his face along the surface, rolling onto his back, and soaking up every bit of sunshine he can find. He's making good progress with potty training and only has occasional accidents in his foster home. Colby sleeps quietly in his kennel at night and can often be found resting comfortably in his crate when his foster family is away. Tell him, "Go to your room," offer a treat, and he'll happily trot right in. Like many dogs experiencing a big life change, Colby is still working through a few fears. Leashes can be intimidating, and car rides currently make him nervous, causing some panting and whimpering. With patience, encouragement, and continued exposure, he's already showing that he's willing to learn and trust. Colby has done well with children as young as 9 years old, though he'll appreciate a family willing to give him a little time to settle in and feel secure. Colby currently lives in a foster home with several other small dogs and gets along well with most canine friends. If you're looking for a gentle soul with adorable curls, a loving heart, and a talent for turning sunny afternoons into pure happiness, Colby may be the perfect addition to your family. ☀️   Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet.  This can be found on our website at   https://almosthomepetrescue.org/apply-now-1     $200 adoption fee includes core vaccinations, rabies vaccination, heart worm test (in dogs over 6 months of age), microchip and registration, spay/neuter, wormer and flea and heart worm prevention while the dog is in our care. All breed, age,  and size categorizations are estimates.    If transporting out of state to available locations, the total adoption cost will be $500. This amount is inclusive of adoption fee, transport fee, health certificate, and taxes. August 22, 2026, 4:21 am
