Story
Hi there! I’m Pixie, a sweet little girl with a heart of gold. I’m a young pup, full of energy and love to brighten your day with my playful spirit. I’m super friendly and always eager to meet new people, so if you're looking for a cuddle buddy or a lively playmate, I’m your girl!I have a charming bark and enjoy expressing myself—it’s just part of my personality! After a fun day of play, there’s nothing I love more than curling up next to you for some quality snuggle time. I’ve been great about my potty training and have been going outside to do my business.I get along wonderfully with my other small dogs in my foster home. I haven’t been seen interacting with large dogs or many other pups so I might still need to see how I do with them.If you’re ready to welcome a loving companion who will bring joy and laughter into your life, I can’t wait to meet you! Primary Color: White Weight: 17.5 Age: 4yrs 0mths 2wks

Hey, it's me, Snooper! Are you my human? I REALLY love riding in the car and my people. I promise to patrol your yard and keep all the critters at bay. I can be your partner for playing fetch and for a good walk. When it's time for cuddles, I'll paw your hand to make sure I get a pet or two in while I snooze next to you on the couch. These are some of my best photos, before I had to have one of my eyes removed, now I'm a winker! I've been in foster care for over 2 years and would love to find my furever to spend my remaining years with.Interested in adoption? Please read the following: we have an application process, which can be found on our website at www.austincockerrescue.org. We do not adopt outside the state of Texas. You must have an approved application to set up a meeting with a dog--this is done at the foster's discretion. If you have questions regarding the adoption process or a specific dog, please email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org. Phone calls about specific dogs will not be answered, as email is our preferred method of communication. Thank you for your interest!

Story
We love a good comeback story! So we are very excited to introduce you to adorable & adoptable Hoover, who came to us almost completely bald from mange. From the streets to your side — Hoover is finally getting his chance to be someone’s whole world! He’s about 18 months old, full of personality, incredibly sweet, and once his coat grows back in, he’s going to be even more ridiculously cute.He loves a fenced yard and furry friends, but he’s also a total velcro dog! When you come home, expect the happiest little whining welcome—he just misses you that much. He may have a bit of separation anxiety, but so far there’s been no destructive behavior—he really just loves his humans.Hoover is still very much a young dog. He picked up house training quickly with a dog door, but will need help learning a routine without one. He’s still figuring out things like walking nicely on a leash or being mouthy during play. His forever home will need to provide the kind of guidance you’d expect for his age and history. The great news is he’s incredibly in tune with his environment and takes cues from everything around him—especially other dogs. He’s already shown how quickly he can learn by following the lead of a well-adjusted dog in the home.He hasn’t shown any resource guarding—just a normal preference for his space at times, which is completely typical. With his personality, he will do well with other animals and kids with proper guidance.Hoover is the kind of dog who will bond deeply with his people—he just wants love, structure, and someone to stick by his side. He’s already come so far, we can’t wait to see where he goes next! Hoover is heartworm positive and will be treated at CSRA/SA expense at one of our partner vets. He will need a local adopter in the San Antonio or Austin are for this. Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application. You can find that application on our website. Already approved applicants can email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org

Story
Leif. If you know anything about CSRA, you know that we ADORE a pre-sugared face! We believe that a dog deserves a great home, regardless of their age, when they find themselves looking for one. And pssst, here's a secret: older dogs often make AMAZING companions. At 10, Leif has gotten over that whippersnapper stage and is well-settled into being happy to just hang out--he's not overly affectionate, but he wants to know where you are so he can find a dog bed close by. He does great with other older, low-key dogs. And best of all, you can see this goofy grin every morning.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application, which you can find on http://www.austincockerrescue.org/adoption-application/Applicants with an already approved application can email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org

Story
It's adorable & adoptable: Trapper! Trapper is a gorgeous boy waiting to be someone’s best sidekick. He is around a year and a half old and VERY energetic--and he is good-sized too!-- not too small and not too large, weighing in at around 32 lbs. Trapper is a permanent winker: he’s only got one eye, but he doesn't miss a thing! There aren’t enough toys or squeaky balls in the world for him, but he makes do with every one he can find in your house. Trapper walks well on a leash and has free reign of the house when his fosters are away. He likes to sleep in bed with his fosters and is great about not crowding them and is also happy to sleep on the floor next to the bed. He knows how to use a dog door and uses it all day long to hunt lizards and make sure the squirrels and deer are kept out of the yard. He will chase a ball as long as you throw it, and RIP to your arm muscles because you will need to throw it A LOT to burn off all of that well stored energy. He has a very loud bark that he uses to let strangers know he is watching, so a home with a backyard would be the best home for him. He is a sweetheart who loves affection but insists on a warming up period first as he is still learning to trust people. Trapper would do best with an experienced dog owner in an active home where he gets lots exercise, walks and stimulation. He knows how to sit and wait for his meals and treats. He is good with children after being slowly introduced and is great with cats.Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application which you can find on our austincockerrescue.org website. Already approved applicants can email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org to express their interest. We adopt to within the state of Texas and do not ship or transport dogs.

Story
Calypso is a 5-year-old beauty who has some special needs--both physical and behavioral. We'll explain. The physical part is somewhat simple--she has epilepsy. She is now on daily medication, which isn't super expensive, and it's pretty much under control. The behavioral aspect, well... Here's what we know: Calypso requires a very specific home. This pretty girl is extremely skittish and shy. Children are a no-no for her, even savvy kids. Let's face it, kids can be fast and loud and up in your grill, and it just freaks her out. She doesn't care for a noisy home either. She's a girl who needs time to warm up, and even then, she will let you know what she deems an appropriate touch and what she considers unacceptable. Now that she has been with us for a while, she has finally learned to trust her foster family. Heck, she's even opened up and comfortable enough to play fetch. But we know that Calypso will never be a social butterfly. She is not one of those dogs that are suitable for a busy home or novice owners. She's not a dog you could take out in public to a bar or restaurant or social gatherings. She says, "NO THANKS to all of that. She's a lovely companion for someone who understands that some dogs love in different ways. She will need a compassionate veterinarian and grooming staff who understand the importance of trust and patience. And a special person who can provide a quiet home and who will understand when she needs a safe space to retreat to when there may be visitors. Don't get us wrong, she likes her person and will happily sit beside you, she just has a bit of Greta Garbo in her: "She wants to be alone." We know that all of this may sound like a lot, but if we've learned anything in our 24 years of doing this, there's someone out there for whom she would be a perfect fit. It may take us a while to find that person, but we're pretty sure they're out there. If this sounds like you, the next step is to have an approved application (which can be found on our website).
