Story
Tofu is a major cutie—a sweet, cuddly 1.5 year-old Cockapoo with a heart full of love and a tongue that’s almost always sticking out (seriously… it’s part of his signature look!). This affectionate little guy lives for kisses, snuggles, and being close to his people. If you’re looking for a best friend who wants to be wherever you are, Tofu is your guy.Tofu has a playful puppy spirit and still gets the zoomies like a champ! While he does have some hip and back leg issues that we’re still learning more about, it doesn’t stop him from running, playing, and enjoying life. It’s believed these traits may be inherited. Regardless, Tofu doesn’t let it slow him down and continues to be an active, happy pup.Because he’s still a puppy, Tofu can get a little mouthy when he’s extra excited, but he’s made great progress learning to redirect that energy to his beloved chew toys (which he absolutely loves). For this reason he may need to be in a home with full grown children. He’s also very fond of his toy box… though he’s still trying to understand why throw pillows aren’t considered toys. 😉Tofu is crate trained and does well settling in his kennel. He has come a long way with his potty training and continues to improve, especially with a consistent routine—he may just need a little extra patience and guidance to get fully there. He loves being outside, especially lounging in the grass and soaking up the fresh air. At the end of the day, Tofu’s favorite place is anywhere he can curl up with his human. He truly just wants to be loved and part of a family. With his sweet personality, adorable bleep tongue, and endless affection, Tofu is ready to steal hearts and become someone’s perfect companion.Interested in Adoption? Are you looking for a petite little princess who will cuddle you all day long and let you put bows in her hair? We're so sorry, we don't have one of those. We've got Fawn. To be sure, she is a tiny little poof of spaniel but "ladylike" has not entered the chat here. Fawn is whirling dervish of playtime, chewing on things you thought were lost and thieving "snacks" she manages to disappear off the table when you're not looking. Fawn is a year and a half old, but is possible stuck in Perpetual Puppy Mode. Her size (14lbs) does not do a good job of convincing anyone she's a grown adult either. She is goofy, hilarious and extremely affectionate in that "I'm going to be 2 inches from your Face at ALL TIMES" way. She loves playing with other dogs unless its dinnertime--around food she is convinced she is a 200lb beast that cannot be messed with (so she eats in a crate). Housetraining is... a concept we are working on. She remains unconvinced that playtime is something that should be interrupted for pottybreaks. She has gorgeous spots and a scrunchface that won't quit. We won't blame you for falling in love but her furever family will need to be one who can usher her through Puppy Mode (even if it lasts). ay hello to Rory (affectionately known as Roo)! CSRA rescued this lovely girl from apuppy mill in March of 2025, and she is only now getting the courage to introduce herself.Roo is a gentle, shy girl who is beginning to understand the joy of being a beloved family member. Rescued from a horrific breeding situation, she is taking baby steps every day. She would prefer a calm, patient, female-only home.Roo feels safest around other dogs and will need a home with a gentle, confident dog (or two!) to act as a mentor and friend. New people make her nervous, but she warms up quickly and will ask her person for pets and reassurance. For much of theday, Roo hangs out in or near her covered crate "den" and waits for her foster mom to do something interesting. She does check in regularly for pets and likes to keep her foster mom in sight, just in case there are snacks. Yes, Roo is very food motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement and praise. She has started to come when called, and wiggles and bounces when she's told "good girl!" She’s a joy to work with because every tail wag and tiny moment of trust feels like winning the lottery. But there is a catch. Like many dogs from indoor breeding operations, “outside" is a new and terrifying experience for her. For this reason, housebreaking has been slow, and Roo still uses potty pads. She is not yet able to walkon a leash without hunkering down, and at around 28lbs, she can be a lot to carry. Roo will likely not ever be a "go for walks in the park"; or "hang out on the restaurant patio" type of girl. Loud sounds, starling noises, fast hand motions, or sudden or abrupt experiences are hard for her, and she will hide until she feels safe again. She currently takesinexpensive medication to help with anxiety.Roo is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can continue to grow at her own pace. If you've got a big heart, a soft spot for the underdogs, and maybe a treat ortwo in your pocket, she might just be your perfect companion. Roo is estimated to be 5 years old. Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application which you canfind on our website. Already approved applicants can email usat woof@austincockerrescue.org to let us know of your interest. Story
Ladybird. Like her namesake, she is responsible for bringing beauty to Texans. The Texas Highway Department, now called TxDOT, was organized in 1917 and staff soon recognized that native wildflowers were the first vegetation to naturally reappear at roadside construction areas. In 1934, Texas became the first state to intentionally cultivate wildflowers along the state’s highways. Fast forward to 1963 when then First Lady Lady Bird Johnson championed the Highway Beautification Act, also known as "Ladybird's Bill." 60+ years later and Texans and visitors alike are annually greeted each spring with her vision and legacy. OUR Ladybird is a classic beauty herself. We're not sure of her exact age, but she is around 2-3 years old. She's got pearly white toofers. Ladybird can be a little slow to trust--it's difficult when you're a mama sometimes. (She was a fantastic and fiercely protective mama to her babies). In her foster home, she gets along great with other dogs and loves to gently cuddle with her humans. She is house trained for a doggy-door environment, and loves to hit the yard to chase squirrel/lizards. She may not be a social butterfly but for the right, quiet home--she'll be a lovely companion. Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application which you can find at austincockerrescue.org. Story
SWEETEST BOY EVER! Albert is most likely a Cockapoo. He has a lovely, soft, wavy coat with little to no shedding. This does mean he will require regular grooming to prevent matting. He is a super happy and playful dog who gets along with everyone and plays well with other dogs. He is pretty much house trained with frequent trips outside and puppy pads at night. Poor Albert came to us with an old bilateral fracture of his jaw which had healed crookedly on his right side and not healed properly on his left. He was found as a stray in Eagle Pass, TX and appeared to have had an accident with a vehicle. Recently, he had jaw surgery that placed a titanium plate on the left side to hold the two pieces of his jaw together so it could heal. He also had three teeth removed and his teeth cleaned. Unfortunately, the jaw was unable to be perfectly constructed but he still has a happy and charming smile. There are no problems with him using it and he carries stuffed toys and eats just fine. The picture of Albert in front of the Xmas tree, was when we rescued him last year. It shows how fractured his jaw was prior to his surgery. Please give Albert a chance for his best life with a forever family. We know that he is very grateful to be saved by our rescue. He shows it every day by being the "sweetest boy ever!!" Fenced yard. Austin, TX area adoptions only. Albert's adoption fee of $400.00 includes his vet visits, basic vaccinations, heartworm/tick tests, preventative, fecal test, wormer, dental cleaning, jaw surgery, neuter, microchip and grooming.
