Story
A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT.)  I KNOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN VERY CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT! Bandit is a very outgoing fellow.  He is a neutered male 8-year-old merle headed white rough Collie.  UTD on everything, heartworm negative, terrific bloodwork.  At the same time we did Bandit's neutering, we also did a thorough dental cleaning and polishing with two extractions.  And we also did some diagnostic biopsies of his nose to get a definitive diagnosis and best treatment options for what seems to be an auto-immune disorder.  The biopsy report should be back to us shortly.  GREAT NEWS!  BANDIT DOES NOT HAVE AN AUTO-IMMUNE DISORDER.  HE HAS A MODERATE NASAL SOLAR DERMATITIS.  HE WAS LEFT OUT IN DIRECT SUN 24-7.  WE WILL TRY A TOPICAL TREATMENT CALLED TACROLIMUS 0.1% THAT IS BEING COMPOUNDED AT MONUMENT PHARMACY.  HURRAY! Until then, we will keep doing what we are doing to boost his calories to help him put on 10# of body weight with good quality food.  And we take walks primarily either early in the morning or early in the evening to limit sun exposure since that is a huge component of this type of skin issue.  Bandit was on a chain with no shade for years.  That made what might have been a minor issue into one of great concern.  But our team will make sure that does not happen ever again. How on earth Bandit could be housebroken I cannot tell you.  But he is.  He loves the company of other dogs and can recognize another Collie from a great distance.  My stable pack of five has accepted him completely (four Collies and one Sheltie for comic relief).  Leash walking was completely new to him but we are doing much better with a Joyride harness and we can also buckle him safely into a seatbelt for trips to the vet or maybe there is a pup-cup in his future. We are posting Bandit for adoption to see what enlightened human beings are out there.  We want him to have what each of our dogs deserve.  A good quality diet, loving and gentle hands, air conditioned comfort on the hot days and warmth with a cozy blanket on the cold days.  Lots of good conversation and discussion of love.  (Don't think for one minute that a dog does not understand how much they mean to you.  All my dogs have love names.  I hope your dogs do, too.)  Bandit needs a primarily indoor kind of lifestyle.  We hope that the auto-immune symptoms will resolve quickly with proper treatment and will not be a factor for his family but whoever adopts him needs to understand that it will be their responsibility to stay on top of this medical issue, quite probably lifelong. So, enlightened human beings, let's chat!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 17, 2026, 5:06 pm

Story
Matty B may have only spent one night in foster care, but he made quite the impression. This lovable teenage pup is full of personality, curiosity, and enthusiasm for life. Like many adolescent dogs, he's still learning the rules, but he has already shown that he's a quick learner who wants to figure things out. During his first night in foster, Matty had a couple of potty-training accidents while learning the routine. Once he realized he was supposed to go outside, he quickly caught on and began circling by the front door when he needed a potty break. He also impressed his foster by sleeping quietly in his crate through the entire night—more than eight hours without a peep. Matty absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a playful canine companion. He's eager to make friends and is always ready for fun, though he could use a little more practice understanding that not every dog wants a playmate directly in their face all the time. His enthusiasm is contagious, and he'd be a great match for another active dog who enjoys wrestling, running, and playing. He also met a cat during his brief foster stay and did well. Matty was curious and interested, but never aggressive. Like many young dogs, he occasionally needed reminders that cats don't necessarily appreciate the same level of enthusiasm as dogs, but he responded well to redirection. One thing became clear immediately: Matty loves toys. In true puppy fashion, he carefully emptied the entire toy bin to inspect every available option. He enjoys playing with people as much as he enjoys playing with dogs and can be a little mouthy when excited, but he's very gentle and doesn't bite down. Despite being an energetic young dog, Matty isn't demanding. He was hesitant to jump onto furniture and seemed perfectly content lounging on the floor near his people. Because he was only in foster for one night, we're still learning about Matty every day. What we do know is that he's friendly, social, eager to learn, dog-loving, and already showing all the signs of becoming an incredible companion with a little guidance and continued training. If you're looking for a fun-loving young dog who is ready for adventures, playtime, and learning life's lessons alongside you, Matty B may be your perfect match.
