Story
AS WITH ALL OF THE DOGS IN OUR PROGRAM, A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT.)  I KNOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT! Danny Boy is the chosen name for this fun-loving, adolescent, blue merle neutered male rough Collie.  He loves to play and just about anything or anyone is a toy to him.  He snags a toy and waves it around to get the other dogs' attention and then.....it is off to the races! Danny's health care is all completed.  Neutered, all vaccines, HW tested, baseline bloodwork and microchipped with a Home Again chip.  His foster mom in Wichita, Kansas made sure he was housebroken and had some basic manners like leash walking.  A martingale collar helps when it comes to learning this kind of skill.  He knows his given name and comes when called.  He is learning about a squirt bottle to curb some barking.  (Not his fault.  My stable pack of pooches have taught him to do that when he is excited.)  He hops in and out of the van when we are headed out somewhere for fun and games.  All of our dogs love to go to Hilltop Pet Clinic where we are greeted like extended family. In order to be considered to adopt Dany Boy, you must have Collie experience and be able to promise him your loving care for the next 10-12 years.  He would adore some kids or grandkids to play and cuddle with.  He plays like mad with Bandit who is also looking for a forever home.  And when he is playing with Peanut, my little Sheltie friend. he runs so fast he will jump over her and circle back.  My morning coffee, watching all my kiddos enjoying their lives, is a wonderful way to start the day. We do have a lovely couple coming to meet Danny on Sunday.  But we want to make sure that he has the right exposure to the universe, just in case he is not the right match.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2026, 2:22 pm

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT.)  I KNOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN VERY CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT! Bandit is a very outgoing fellow.  He is a neutered male 8-year-old merle headed white rough Collie.  UTD on everything, heartworm negative, terrific bloodwork.  At the same time we did Bandit's neutering, we also did a thorough dental cleaning and polishing with two extractions.  And we also did some diagnostic biopsies of his nose to get a definitive diagnosis and best treatment options for his sunburned skin.  He lucked out and has a topical ointment to resolve the area.  Dr. Crook is very pleased with the progress he has made so far. We will keep doing what we are doing to boost his calories to help him put on 10# of body weight with good quality food.  And we take walks primarily either early in the morning or early in the evening to limit sun exposure since that is a huge component of this type of skin issue.  Bandit was on a chain with no shade for years.  That made what might have been a minor issue into one of greater concern.  But our team will make sure that does not happen ever again. How on earth Bandit could be housebroken I cannot tell you.  But he is.  He loves the company of other dogs and can recognize another Collie from a great distance.  My stable pack of five has accepted him completely (four Collies and one Sheltie for comic relief).  Leash walking was completely new to him but we are doing much better with a Joyride harness and we can also buckle him safely into a seatbelt for trips to the vet or maybe there is a pup-cup in his future. We are posting Bandit for adoption to see what enlightened human beings are out there.  We want him to have what each of our dogs deserve.  A good quality diet, loving and gentle hands, air conditioned comfort on the hot days and warmth with a cozy blanket on the cold days.  Lots of good conversation and discussion of love.  (Don't think for one minute that a dog does not understand how much they mean to you.  All my dogs have love names.  I hope your dogs do, too.)  Bandit needs a primarily indoor kind of lifestyle.  We hope that the sunburn will resolve quickly with proper treatment and will not be a factor for his family but whoever adopts him needs to understand that it will be their responsibility to stay on top of this medical issue, quite possibly lifelong. So, enlightened human beings, let's chat!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 2, 2026, 2:22 pm

Story
Meet Nelson! This Collie mix is impossible to miss with his striking blue eyes and happy-go-lucky personality. After making the journey from a shelter in Kansas, Nelson is quickly learning that the good life is pretty great. Nelson is curious, playful, and always ready for his next adventure. He's a total rockstar on leash and loves getting out to explore and meet new people. Whether it's a neighborhood stroll, a mountain hike, or a trip to your favorite brewery patio, this boy is happy just being part of the fun. He's also doing great with potty training and is making progress with crate training. He sleeps in his crate overnight like a champ, though he'd definitely prefer to be wherever his people are. Super smart, goofy, and incredibly sweet, Nelson is the kind of puppy who will keep you laughing while stealing your heart at the same time. He's at the perfect age to continue learning, growing, and becoming your very best friend. All he needs now is a forever family ready to show him that life's greatest adventures are the ones shared together. Could Nelson be your new adventure buddy? ##2771090##

Story
Betty, her 7 siblings, and her Momma were found living in a drainage ditch in Texas when the pups were just a few weeks old.  A woman fed them for a couple days until she was able to find a rescue to take them in.  The rescue in nursed the pups and Momma back to health for days.  It took a little while for Momma to realize they were finally safe.  Momma and babies were transferred here when they were old enough to do so safety.  They have now been vetted, fixed, and well socialized.  They are ready to find forever, loving families of their own! Momma Dottie is about 12lbs, and we don't know who dad was.  We are guessing the pups will be about 20-30lbs when full grown.  They are all incredibly sweet, loving, playful, and just absolutely perfect.
