GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN VERY CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS. THEY DESERVE IT! We've got the Spirit! Let's hear it! Spirit is a magnificent 5-year-old male, mahogany and white rough coated Collie. (He will be neutered at the very first opportunity that opens up.) He is charming and silly and great fun. He adores men, women, children, other dogs and kitties, too. This pup has never met a stranger although he will let loose with a big alert bark if someone unknown is nearby. That is to protect his humans from any possible dog food thieves in the vicinity. Spirit is healthy and happy. His blood work is great and he is UTD on vaccines although he will need boosters because he had not had vaccines since puppyhood. He is heartworm negative and will come with 3 doses of Interceptor, which is the safest HW preventative for the herding breeds. He is microchipped and ready to rock and roll. Grooming and bathing was quite a chore and took about 4 1/2 hours from start to finish but he looks awesome now. And he prances proudly as if he knows how handsome he looks. There MUST be children in Spirit's future. We don't believe that he would be his happiest self without kiddos. A 7-year-old girl dropped by yesterday with her mom and Spirit turned himself inside out to get her attention. And the little girl felt the same way about him. It is pure joy to see a Collie and a kiddo. It takes me back to the days of Lassie and begging my parents for a Collie. It did not work. And I did not have my first dog, a Collie that was beaten and dumped by the side of the road, until many years later. But I have made up for that! Sadie is a 4MO adorable Mutt. Sadie and her 3 siblings were found abandoned on the side of the road in Texas. We are guessing she will be about 35-45lbs when full grown. We don't know how many of them there were originally, but unfortunately it's safe to assume there were others that didn't make it. Once they were rescued they were brought to a local vet to get the proper care and support they needed since they were emaciated and dehydrated. Once sadie and her siblings were healthy and stable, they made their way to our rescue here in CO where we are hoping they find families of their very own. Here is what Sadie's foster Momma has to say about her: "This little pup is a bit shy at first but with treats and a few good belly rubs she’ll become your best friend! Once she’s comfortable with you, she won’t leave your side! Sadie’s a quick learner and is very treat motivated. She’s already learned sit and is doing really well with potty training. She sleeps through the night in her crate. We highly recommend having a crate for her at her new home. While she’d love to sleep with you, she has a very positive tie to her crate and we can tell it’s a place of security for her. Sadie is incredibly sweet and does well with other dogs. We’re working on walking a leash but she's doing great so far! She is loving and snuggly and it's been so fun to watch her learn how great humans and life can be when she isn't trying to survive on the side of the road."
