Story
Meet Brady! This guy is so loving and just wants to please his people. True to his collie breed he is vocal and loves to chat! He absolutely loves to play and would do very well with another playful dog. He would also like his future adopters to know that he LOVES bones and toys, they are his absolute favorite. Once he's all tuckered out he just wants to get snuggled up on the couch for lots of love and pets. This guy is also fully potty-trained and crate trained. He does well with dog-friendly cats, kids, and other dogs. Brady is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines. To adopt him, please complete an adoption application at www.trevorsanimalrescue.org.  ##1878713##

Story
Kayleena was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2116273##

Good with dogs,
Story
My story is both heart-warming and heartbreaking, but I'm glad I found my way back to the rescue organization that can help me find the forever home I deserve. I can be a gentle and loyal companion who simply craves the love and attention that every dog deserves. Despite the neglect I experienced in my previous home,I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue. My shyness and caution around men is understandable, but with the right patience and care, I'm confident I will blossom into a wonderful family member. Here are a few key points about you that stand out: I am a loyal and humble companion who appreciates the simple things in life, like gentle pats and a calm voice. I may be a bit shy at first, but will warm up to people and become the heart of the home. I would do best in a quiet, loving environment, and would make a great match for older children or a veteran looking for a furry friend. Despite the neglect in my past, I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue.  I truly believe that with the right forever family who is willing to give me the time, patience, and love I deserve, I will flourish. I have so much to offer, and I hope to find that special someone who can provide me with the forever home I've been searching for.  Please fill out an application for me at www.fureverdogdenver.com, if you have any questions or would like to meet me, please call 720 588-6809. ##2096191##

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE GO TO www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN, HOME VISIT.)  I KNOW THAT IS A LOT BUT WE SCREEN CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT! Harper is the "sweetest dog ever", (so sayeth her foster mom).  She is just barely a year old and still has a great deal to learn but she loves instinctively, as every wonderful Collie does.  She is super affectionate and cuddly and is not fulfilled unless she has a cuddle-fest with mom before bedtime.  Just in case you can't tell, Harper Lee has been dearly loved by her foster mom.  But keeping up with a Collie puppy's energy is a full-time job. Harper is a one-year-old spayed female tri-colored rough Collie.  First of all, Harper needs a young and energetic companion dog to run with, play tug with and learn from.  With a dog that has not had lots of "hands on" as a youngster, the greatest and quickest impact on their learning curve will be from a well-mannered  "big sister or big brother" to show them what I call "the ways of the force."  Remember what Luke Skywalker and Han Solo learned from each other?  Harper's foster parents have paid for 2 weeks of a board and train program with a certified trainer.  Her progress is excellent in the basic commands of sit, stay, down, off, leave it and walking on leash like a lady.  What a wonderful gift for this dog! Harper's crate is her safe place.  When unsure of herself, she will retreat to her crate.  Again, as she gains more confidence, this behavior will lessen and she will begin to believe in herself and her human.  And, as always, love travels down the leash. Young dogs belong with young families.  Harper's puppy energy would be too much for toddlers and, like Tigger in Winnie the Pooh, she would bounce a kiddo over.  Kids over 10 or teenagers would be lots of fun for Harper and Harper would be great fun for them.  Her health is excellent and she is completely up to date on vaccines, etc.  All we need to add is love!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 24, 2024, 2:48 pm

Story
Peabody's journey began when he was discovered as a stray, wandering the streets alone. After spending five days in "doggie jail," he found his way to the rescue  in search of a loving forever home. This charming pup is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all his vaccinations, ready to embark on the next chapter of his life. Described as a good boy with a heart full of love and energy, Peabody thrives in the company of an active family who can provide him with plenty of attention and playtime. He's adept at navigating the ins and outs of home life, being house, crate, and doggie door trained. While he hasn't been tested with cats, he's known to get along well with female dogs. However, Peabody does have a tendency to engage in fence fights with other dogs in his vicinity, which may require some training and supervision to manage. Despite this challenge, his affectionate nature shines through, making him a delightful companion for the right family. Since October of 2022, Peabody has been patiently waiting for his perfect match at the rescue, eager to find a forever home where he can shower his new family with love and joy. ##1563395##
