Story
Butterfly has said goodbye to her chrysalis and is in the form of the gorgeous girl she is and will always be, inside and out! Butterfly is a retriever come collie mix perhaps who is an adult weighing 40+ lbs full grown. With a gorgeous coat that is a mix of neutrals and a face that is focused and stunning, this girl is a looker through and through. Butterfly is a social gal at heart, both with dogs as well as people. She would easily settle into a home with other dogs and any number of people and make it home for both you and her. She is active and likes to be on the hike team and likes to play with all of her doggo friends. This beauty is good in her crate and house ready. Just come out and see for yourself. **Hiker feedback: "She was just as loving as they come. Did great on the hike/walk and just like her name she wanted to fly to the front. Did great with people and dogs. She is very treat driven. She is one of the sweetest dogs ever and is perfect to cuddle with on a lazy day and to go on an adventure with".  **Additional feedback: " Butterfly is a sweet and cuddly dog who loves going on the hikes. She is very friendly to other dogs and people, and enjoyed socializing with all during the hike rests.  She enjoyed a few sniff sessions along the way, but mainly stayed focused on the trail".

Story
Chai was given to us as a puppy for Christmas in 2024. We’ve had him for a little over a year. He is a very energetic dog. He had some trauma in the summer of 2025 when he was bit by a neighbors pitbull while out for a walk. The family loves him but we just don’t have time to properly train him and give him the attention that he needs.

Story
I got at 6 weeks old from a friend. He is a lab border collie mix. Very friendly and high energy. He does have anxiety and barks when he hears noises outside. He pulls a little on walks and if he sees another dog on walks he immediately tries to go towards them by lunging to play but not to be aggressive. Ive had a knee injury that required surgery. I can no longer take care of him as needed. He is very sweet and is food and treat driven he is 7 yrs old.

Story
Meet Layla — a 7‑year‑old, 63‑lb Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix with the gentlest spirit and an old‑soul presence!   Quick Facts: Name: Layla Breed: Australian Shepherd/Border Collie Age: 7 years old Weight: 63 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Not tested, but likely ok Good with Kids: Yes – she LOVES kids Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Medical Notes: Layla is currently undergoing treatment for Lyme Disease.   About Layla’s Breed: Our best guess is that Layla is a Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mixed breed. Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mixes are known for their intelligence, sensitivity, and deep devotion to their people. They’re thoughtful, intuitive dogs who often form strong bonds and enjoy being close to their humans, making them wonderful companions for someone who appreciates a calm but emotionally connected dog. While they can be active and enjoy outdoor adventures, many settle beautifully into a relaxed home routine, especially as they mature.   Their ideal home is one that offers companionship, gentle structure, and daily walks or light adventures. They thrive with someone who enjoys spending time at home, appreciates their quiet loyalty, and understands their sensitive nature. With love, patience, and a peaceful environment, this mix becomes an incredibly devoted, steady, and soulful family member.   What to Love about Layla: One look into Layla’s eyes and you can see her quiet wisdom and deep appreciation for kindness. She is incredibly people‑oriented and happiest simply being near her person, soaking in peaceful moments and offering her calm companionship.   Layla would be a wonderful match for someone newly retired or anyone who spends a lot of time at home. She loves relaxing outside while her human reads or works, content to rest by your side. She’s not overly food‑motivated but enjoys a good treat, loves ear scratches and big hugs, and has a way of looking at you with genuine gratitude when she receives affection. She sleeps soundly through the night — with a cute little snore — and is fully potty trained. Despite her thick coat, she does not shed!   She is mildly indifferent to other dogs and clearly prefers human company, though she gets along well with calm dogs and would be perfectly happy as your one and only. She hasn’t met cats yet, but her gentle nature suggests she’d likely do well with a proper introduction. Layla is wonderful with children of all ages and loves the soft “hugs” and pets she gets from the kids in her foster home. She doesn’t have an aggressive bone in her body!   Layla enjoys leisurely walks in the woods or around the neighborhood and is excellent on a leash — no pulling, just a calm stroll by your side. She has low energy at home but looks forward to her daily walks and weekend hikes. She was neglected before rescue and, because of that, has some separation anxiety. She needs a patient, loving family who can help her feel secure and teach her that she will never be left behind again. She’s not destructive when left alone, but she is still working on feeling comfortable in a crate.   Layla is the epitome of sweetness, gentleness, and quiet love! She’s ready to join a calm, caring home where she can finally relax, feel safe, and spend the rest of her life knowing she is cherished.   Layla’s Lovely Highlights: 7‑year‑old, 63‑lb Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix with a calm, old‑soul presence Exceptionally kind, gentle, and deeply people‑oriented — happiest simply being near her person Fully potty trained, quiet in the home, and rarely barks Low energy indoors but enjoys daily walks and weekend hikes at a relaxed pace Wonderful with children of all ages and loves gentle hugs and pets Mildly indifferent to other dogs; prefers humans but does well with calm canine companions Great on a leash — walks politely without pulling Has some separation anxiety due to past neglect and needs a patient, loving home to help her feel secure Does not shed despite her thick coat and sleeps soundly through the night (with a cute snore!) The epitome of sweetness and gratitude, ready for a calm, loving forever family where she can feel safe and cherished   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Buster is my best boy. We rescued him in SC so he is anywhere from 5yrs -8yrs old according to our vet. He was with his sister, they came from the same litter & was separated from her at the pound in SC…He is heartworm positive. So we have him on preventative medication as well as calming treats i will provide if needed. He loves to cuddle. Belly rubs are his favorite. He does love his sisters here they play a lot outside but, he just sits by your feet and watches. Really is a man’s best friend! Im not looking for an adoption fee..just a good human and a good home for a boy to spend the rest of his days. If you have any questions please call me (xxx) xxx-xxxx
