Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Kelly is a beautiful, playful 8 year old collie. She is definitely a “people” girl who loves affection and hugs. In her previous home she was the only dog and she would prefer to be in an only dog household. She has learned to get along with her submissive collie foster sibling but it did require training and supervision. She has, however, done well with the household cats. Kelly is attentive to all that is going on around her and happily watches from her bed. If you want a dog that prefers dog beds to people furniture, this is your girl. She is very smart and understands Sit, Stay and Shake. She prefers to play with toys with someone rather than playing by herself. If you press a squeaky toy she will take a turn making it squeak right back at you.   Kelly has a few quirks like we all do. She was born with a slight neurological issue which makes her spin. When she is excited she spins. But she can stop in a couple of minutes and then is fine and will follows directions well. She gets overly excited by cars driving by (barks and spins) so a quiet neighborhood or windows that she cannot see out of will keep her secure, mpre calm and happy. If she does see cars, she can be distracted by giving her some attention. Kelly thrives on routine, consistency and repetition and with them can quickly learn the rules and wishes of the humans in her world. She needs a patient loving person that will work with her in a kind way. She’s very affectionate and sweet and she will be your loyal frien The adoption fee for Kelly is $300.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.October 8, 2024, 7:25 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Finnegan is a fun, rambunctious 2 yr oldcollie. He enjoys being a bit of a hooligan and enticing his foster dog siblings into roughhousing with him. At two, he still is full of drive and seems to be quite smart. He enjoys the challenge of learning new commands and might enjoy being given the opportunity to learn events like agility. With that said, Finnegan also loves to cuddle his fosters. In particular, he will lay his head in his foster dad’s lap to snuggle and be petted while he naps. Finn must have a home with a fenced-in yard. Cats who are used to large dogs and their antics would do fine with him. Finnegan needs a home where his “fireball” personality and impishness is appreciated and enjoyed. His foster dad said they enjoy watching the bit of chaos he’s brought into their home. Another large dog or two in the home to play with is needed. Finnegan is on the lookout for a forever home where his energy is enjoyed and where he is given opportunities to challenge his brain and harness his active spirit.   Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.October 8, 2024, 7:25 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Penny is a gentle and kind 3 yr old collie. She enjoys being with both dogs and people equally. Penny can be motivated with food and is progressing in learning commands. When outside, she sometimes explores first and sometimes plays with the other dogs first. It just depends on her mood. If a dog gets a bit aggressive with her, she knows how to use her weight to her advantage and handles the situation well. She has been a bit anxious with fireworks and thunderstorms. Penny can also be a little hesitant when getting into the car or going to a new place.    Penny knows her mind and can be a bit stubborn and possessive of her person and her bones. When it comes to bedtime, Penny makes sure she’s lying between her foster mom and dad cuddling them both. That’s her spot and that’s all there is to it. Penny has shown her fosters that she is worth so much more than just a Penny. Sweet Penny is priceless. currently undergoing heartworm treatment. The adoption fee for Penny is $400.00Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.October 8, 2024, 7:25 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Jackson is a young blue merle with one beautiful blue and one beautiful brown eye. Family life is a new experience for Jackson. His foster told us: “Every day I see progress with his new life which you can tell he is on cloud nine about!” Jackson seems to really enjoy air conditioning. It is not surprising that he is shy and acts a bit warily until he becomes used to new people and routines.  He reacts to loud noises, but calms when he is comforted or petted. Did I mention he LOVES being petted? He loves it more than almost anything but also loves his toys, especially the squeaky ones. Outdoors, he loves to play and enjoys being with the other dogs. On a leash, he reacts to cars and loud noises, but a comforting voice and invitation to keep walking helps him keep his cool. Indoors, he loves cuddling and especially enjoys being petted around his head.So far he has ignored the resident cat.   Jackson is a sweet, young boy who is looking for a family who will be just a bit patient with him as he learns the ropes of household living, and we know he will flourish and reward that family by being himself: playful, cuddly and sweet..   The adoption fee for Jackson is $500.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.October 8, 2024, 7:25 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Cooper is 3 1/2 collie/aussie mix and an all-around great dog. He enjoys playing with toys both by himself and with others. He also enjoys playing outside and cuddling inside. Cooper likes the company of people and other dogs equally.  Once outside, he prefers to play first before exploring or getting down to business. He enjoys treats and is easy to motivate. Cooper likes puzzles and quickly learns new tricks. He also wants to be part of the action in the house.   Cooper’s prior owner reported that he disliked bigger dogs and bulldogs. However, his foster said he reads dogs very well. If their cats run, Cooper will give chase; however, he likes cats, so dog-savvy cats will do fine with him. When his fosters leave, he takes a little bit to settle down because he wants to be with his people. Cooper also reads people well, and therefore is intuitive with how to behave with them.   Cooper’s fosters describe him as resilient, playful, friendly and loving. When he wants attention, he squeaks a toy until he gets it. Don’t try to take it from him, though. He’s quick and turns it into a game of keep away. If that ploy doesn’t work, he will put a paw on your arm or leg to ask you to pet him. Cooper is, as the saying goes, “all that and a bag of chips,” and he is waiting for his forever people.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.October 8, 2024, 7:25 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! A stray from a shelter has found her happy foster home!! Emery is a very friendly sable rough collie that is adjusting well to her new surroundings. She is showing no anxiety and fits in  perfectly with the other collies that live in the home. She loves to play with them outside but when they are not around, she can happily entertain herself with toys in the house. She also has met the family cat and is curious about her but shows little interest and no aggression. Her foster family loves her nightly snuggles and says she is very affectionate to everyone she meets. She greets everyone – both animals and people – with enthusiasm and quickly becomes their friend, enjoying their attention.   Despite being 2 years old, Emery is still learning. Her foster family is working on teaching her obedience commands and house training. Luckily she is very smart and motivated to learn. Her foster family is encouraging her with treats for reinforcement, and she is making progress every day! Her warm, sociable personality makes her very lovable. She will be a great companion in a caring home!  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.October 8, 2024, 7:25 pm
