Story
Sophie is a Rough Collie-Great Pyrenees mix puppy who is almost too adorable for words! This baby floof is on track to be a very big girl when she grows up, so she’s looking for a forever family with a special place in their hearts for large- and/or giant-breed dogs. Sophie is the sweetest, silliest little girl who loves everyone and everything. To her, life is just one grand adventure after another, and all she needs is some companions to tag along with! Sophie absolutely adores humans and wants cuddles and kisses at every opportunity. Whether on the floor, by your side on the sofa, or in your arms, this puppy just loves love! She’s also great around kids and would love having some human siblings to play with. Sophie is very well-socialized and thrives in the company of other dogs, especially younger spirited ones who love to play as much as she does! She needs to be in a forever family with a dog sibling (or two!) to pal around with, and to continue learning from. Because she has a lot of energy (even by puppy standards) along with the famed Great Pyrenees tendency to roam and explore, a forever home with a physically fenced-in yard is an absolute must for her. While she hasn’t been cat-tested, she has a strong prey drive, so Sophie needs to be in a forever home without cats, toy-sized dogs, or other small animals. Sophie is a super smart girl who learns quickly! She has good recall, is eager to please, and is reliably house-trained for a puppy her age. She knows “sit” and is working on other basic commands, and she’s started learning leash-walking manners, too. Sophie is quite independent, as Great Pyrs are known to be, but she’s motivated by treats, toys, praise, and affection, so we think that with some more time and effort—and under the guidance of an experienced pup parent—she’ll be well-trained in no time! If you’ve been wanting to add a giant, goofy floof to your family, Sophie just might be the puppy of your dreams! Story
PHYSIACL FENCE REQUIRED! Good golly, Miss Molly! This 2-year-old Rough Collie is an active girl with adorable antics that will always be able to put a smile on your face! She’s got energy to burn and loves to run, showing off her greyhound-style moves. She does the cutest audible cheek puffs with a range of entertaining variations. And when she finally settles down to sleep, she’s most comfortable resting on her back with her legs sticking up into the air! Molly is shy at first with new people and dogs, but she warms up quickly. Her foster mom says that she’s like a puppy in some ways, as if she’s discovering things for the first time. Once Molly has settled in, everything is great, fun, and worth doing or investigating. Molly also thinks that she’s a lap dog and loves to snuggle and give kisses to her foster parents! Molly does well around other dogs, and she’s been working on learning dog manners, like giving the resident dogs space and sharing attention from her foster parents. Other dogs really seem to help her to work up the confidence to experience new things and to trust new people. Because of this—and because she’s a high-energy gal who loves to run and play—Molly needs to have at least one spirited dog sibling in her forever family to join her in frequent bursts of zoomies. She also needs to have a yard with a physical fence to give her lots of opportunities to run and play fetch throughout the day. Molly is coming along nicely with her house and crate training, and she’s already pretty good with walking on leash. She’s also mastered basic commands! Molly is smart and loves to learn, and she’s also pretty motivated by treats, toys praise, and affection. We’re sure that with some patience and effort, she’ll be a good Collie citizen in no time! Plus, her love of learning, boundless energy, and agile ninja moves might be able to be channeled into becoming a fantastic agility dog. Has Molly melted your heart? Does she sound like your perfect match? Fill out an Adoption Application for her today! Physical Fence Required Welcome Oreo, A lovely gentleman available for moonlit walks and late morning snuggles. My name is Oreo and I am 3 years old! I am new to this scene and am a little shy!! I try really hard to be the best boy. I am, as my name says, a real sweet treat. (Maybe a little rough on the outside, but sugar inside) It takes me a while to trust that you won’t harm me. I admit, I am a little jumpy around fast movements and things that go bump. Take your time and lavish me with praise and I will soon realize how kind you are! My foster mom says I have impeccable manners!! (of course, I am a true gentleman!) And that I will become your dreamboat Collie with the love and understanding you provide. I would love another canine companion to help me navigate life. But I would also adore being your one and only. Looking forward to meeting you!! Love, Oreo If you’re looking for a loyal and affectionate companion who will shower you with love and have the patience to continue working with Oreo, he could be the perfect match for you! Story
Physical Fence Required Meet Lady! Lady is a 10-month-old Rough Collie sweetheart who, because of her traumatic past, takes time to become comfortable around new humans and experiences. But with the patience, understanding, and support from an experienced pup parent, we think that this sweet girl will come out of her shell. Lady is a pretty good walker and always looks forward to her daily walks. She also loves to play outside in the yard and needs to have a physical fence at her forever home. Her absolute favorite thing in the world, though, is playing with other dogs! Her foster mom says that Lady is totally in her element when she’s part of a pack. Lady really needs a dog sibling (or two!) of her own to play with, and who can help to show her the ropes and build her confidence. Due to her past experiences, Lady is often wary of humans, especially ones whom she hasn’t met before. Once she bonds with someone, she enjoys being petted and will even give them kisses sometimes! She also likes to stick close by them; she loves hanging out on the couch in her foster mom’s office. The right person/family for Lady will be experienced in working with dogs who are timid around new humans. They’ll also be patient and willing to give her all the time that she needs to build her confidence and adjust to being a part of the family. Lady is coming along nicely with her house training and enjoys her crate time going in willingly for rest. She’s found that chicken snacks are super yummy and now being used for her training. We’re sure that with that under their guidance—and with patience and effort—Lady will be a great Collie citizen. If you’ve got the experience, love, patience, and understanding to help Lady continue her journey to becoming her best self, fill out an Adoption Application for her today! Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! his 2 year old tri-colored Collie/Great Pyrenees mix is learning to live inside a warm home. He is housebroken, and his foster family has taught him his name and the commands “come,” “stay,” “sit” and “paw.” Living inside a home is new to him after living outside for most of his life. Due to this Lance tested positive for heartworm when he arrived at the rescue. He will need a little extra care as he undergos heartworm treatment (which will be covered in full by AHDRO). He'll need a family committed to following the vet's advice and providing the care and medication he will require till he recovers. His fosters describe him as adorably sweet and working on properly greeting guests and leash walking. Using treats as a motivation, Lance is making daily progress. Inside his foster home, Lance is playful, alert, and enjoys looking out the window. A physical fenced yard is required for Lance which he loves exploring and chasing squirrels. His inquisitive personality makes him very attentive to his surroundings and eager to learn new things. He will make a great addition to a loving home. Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Kelly is a beautiful, playful 8 year old collie. She is definitely a “people” girl who loves affection and hugs. In her previous home she was the only dog and she would prefer to be in an only dog household. She has learned to get along with her submissive collie foster sibling but it did require training and supervision. She has, however, done well with the household cats. Kelly is attentive to all that is going on around her and happily watches from her bed. If you want a dog that prefers dog beds to people furniture, this is your girl. She is very smart and understands Sit, Stay and Shake. She prefers to play with toys with someone rather than playing by herself. If you press a squeaky toy she will take a turn making it squeak right back at you.   Kelly has a few quirks like we all do. She was born with a slight neurological issue which makes her spin. When she is excited she spins. But she can stop in a couple of minutes and then is fine and will follows directions well. She gets overly excited by cars driving by (barks and spins) so a quiet neighborhood or windows that she cannot see out of will keep her secure, mpre calm and happy. If she does see cars, she can be distracted by giving her some attention. Kelly thrives on routine, consistency and repetition and with them can quickly learn the rules and wishes of the humans in her world. She needs a patient loving person that will work with her in a kind way. She’s very affectionate and sweet and she will be your loyal frien The adoption fee for Kelly is $300.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.July 25, 2024, 7:14 pm
