Story
Meet Maizy, a two-year-old Border Collie/Kelpie mix weighing 36 pounds.Maizy is a lovely medium-sized girl with adorable oversized ears that give her an irresistible look. She may be a little nervous and shy when meeting new people, but beneath her cautious exterior is a sweet dog just waiting for someone to believe in her.Maizy is looking for a patient, understanding home where she can build confidence at her own pace. She`ll thrive with plenty of love, gentle encouragement, and the time she needs to learn that the world isn`t such a scary place. Because she`s still gaining confidence, she`d do best in a home without young children right now.The family who gives Maizy a chance will be rewarded with a loyal, devoted companion. Once she learns to trust, she`s the kind of dog who will form a special bond with her people and be by their side through life`s adventures. If you have a calm home, a kind heart, and the patience to help a shy dog blossom, Maizy is ready to show you just how wonderful she can be.This pet is available for adoption on 8/6/2026 11:32 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Hershey, a two-and-a-half-year-old Cattle Dog/Kelpie mix weighing around 65 pounds.Hershey is pure joy on four legs! This friendly, outgoing boy loves everyone he meets and can turn any moment into a celebration with his wiggly body and goofy antics. He’s enthusiastic, playful, and always ready for attention—especially if it comes with pets, scratches, or belly rubs.Hershey did have his tail docked due to “happy tail,” but it hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He still wiggles with excitement for every person, every toy, and every new adventure. His happiness is truly contagious! He has also met other dogs while with us and done very well, enjoying playing with them and doing zoomies. This chocolate-colored bundle of fun is full of energy, love, and silly charm. He already knows “sit” and “down,” is very treat-motivated, and is both smart and eager to keep learning. With his zest for life, he’d thrive in a home that can give him plenty of playtime, interaction, and continued positive training.Hershey’s mission in life is simple: make you laugh, soak up your love, and bring nonstop happiness to your days. Story
Meet Cooper, a three-year-old German Shepherd/Border Collie mix weighing around 60 pounds. What breed is Cooper? Your guess is as good as ours! Every staff member sees something different in this handsome guy—maybe a little Doberman, a touch of Husky, or a mix of 20 breeds. Whatever he is, one thing`s for sure: Cooper is 100% lovable!Cooper is an active, goofy boy with what we jokingly call `ADHD`—he`s always ready for the next adventure! Whether he`s splashing around in water, lounging in a kiddie pool on a warm day, or following his nose on a hike, Cooper loves staying busy and exploring the world around him. He`s friendly, treat-motivated, and already knows how to `sit.` Cooper enjoys learning and would thrive with continued training. He can be strong on the leash, especially when something interesting catches his attention, so he`ll do best with someone who can help him polish his leash manners while giving him plenty of exercise and mental enrichment. If you`re looking for an energetic sidekick to join you on hikes, walks, camping trips, or any outdoor adventure, Cooper is ready to be your loyal partner. Bring the treats, and he`ll bring the fun! This pet is available for adoption on 8.7.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
