Story
Hi, we have had Ruby for almost 5 months. We got her from a family friend who was in desperate need of getting rid of her as his dog was trying to harm her. We took her in, in consideration we could get her trained as an emotional service animal for our 4 year old special needs child. Ruby is very possessive (which is good and bad), as she nips our children, while thinking she’s protecting me. My children have no interest in her and she may be jealous of them, but she’s a very timid dog. We’re not sure how she was treated in her previous home, but we are very scared she might hurt our kids, thinking they’re going to hurt me. She is very scared of everything and will not use the bathroom outside if there’s a distraction, as she’ll bark. So much so, if any distraction, such as kids or other animals, get close to her, she will bark so much, her bark will crack and she’ll urinate. I’m unsure of what to do, and the vet recommended a distraction bag, and it still hasn’t been a success.

Story
*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT *** Meet Tucker! He is currently in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and he is almost ready to show off his new skills! His new abilities include 'sit', 'wave', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. Tucker has the biggest and brightest smile. Before his journey to PACK, he was in another WY shelter for many months, being over looked. At PACK, he has thoroughly enjoyed being outside, and either playing with his ball or some of the other dogs. He does fairly well with all the dogs, but definitely does best with females, or males smaller than him. He is great at playing down to their level. He also really wants attention and cuddles from people, once he trusts them. He is continuously working on meeting strangers nor things that are out of the ordinary for him. He becomes uncertain at times when put in this position, but is diligently working on it. Before PACK, Tucker was in a foster home with kids, but since he can become a bit nervous with new people and noises, older kids will be the best for him. He also lived with a cat and did great! He is house trained and kennel trained. Wouldn't you love to wake up to Tucker's smiling face every day? If so, apply to meet him! He will graduate towards the beginning of February.
