Story
Sasha is a gentle soul who recently arrived in Penticton through the Drive for Lives program. She's spent her life living outdoors and hasn't yet had the chance to enjoy the cozy comforts most dogs take for granted. Because of this, the world can feel a little overwhelming, and Sasha is understandably wary of new people. With patience, kindness, and the support of an AnimalKind trainer, she has every chance to grow into a more confident companion. Sasha has lived with both dogs and cats before and may be able to share her home with respectful furry friends. She thrives with long walks, mental enrichment, and a calm environment where she can learn at her own pace. Sasha is ready for a family who will show her what it means to feel safe, loved, and truly at home. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 18.7 Age: 3yrs 0mths 2wks

Good with dogs,
Story
Hi… I’m Atta 🐾 I’m 8 months old, a Jindo × Hound mix girl, and about 10kg of pure love and wiggles. When I was just 3 months old, I was placed on the euthanasia list at a shelter in Gwangju. I was still such a tiny puppy. Thankfully, kind people rescued me, and I spent two whole months in a foster home learning something very special — what it feels like to be loved, to live in a house, and to trust human hands. Now I’m safe, and I’m waiting for you — my forever family. My name, “Atta,” kind of sounds bright and cheerful… and that’s exactly who I am! I really love people. I love being near you, leaning into you, looking up at you, and giving you all my affection. I’m the kind of dog who will make you smile without even trying. When it’s playtime, I’m energetic and a little silly. I love to move, explore, and have fun! But inside the house, I’m actually very good at settling down. I can rest calmly and just enjoy being quietly by your side. I don’t always need excitement — sometimes I just want to share space with you. I’m gentle and friendly with people of all ages, and I can be soft and sweet with children too. I also get along well with other dogs — I have good manners and enjoy having canine friends. I’ve learned indoor potty training, though if I move to a new environment, I might make a small mistake at first. I’m still just a young puppy, after all. If you guide me patiently and lovingly, I promise I’ll learn quickly and try my very best to make you proud. I’m still growing — not just in size, but in heart and experience. I’m ready to go on walks with you, learn new things with you, and build a life together step by step. All I need is someone who will love me, be patient with me, and promise that I’ll never have to wonder where I belong again. If you give me your heart, I’ll give you mine for the rest of my life. Will you be my forever family? 🐶💕

Story
Meet Duke, the Gentle Giant with a Lap-Dog Heart!Duke is a handsome 4-year-old coonhound mix looking for a family to call his own. He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him a bit of patience and kindness and you will discover one of the sweetest, most affectionate companions around.Like any good coonhound, Duke has a world-class nose and a true passion for sniffing. A walk with Duke is less of a straight line and more of a slow, curious adventure as he investigates every interesting scent along the way. He would love a home that enjoys scent games, enrichment activities, and plenty of outdoor exploring. Long hikes, forest trails, and neighborhood strolls where he can follow his nose would make Duke very happy.Duke is currently working on his leash manners and remembering that his big paws belong on the ground. In his mind, however, he is absolutely a lap dog. Once he feels safe, he will lean his whole gentle self into you for cuddles. If you stop petting him too soon, he will politely nudge you with his snout." In the mornings, he may greet you with a stuffed toy when he is feeling extra excited to start the day. He already knows cues like sit and shake a paw, and he responds wonderfully to positive reinforcement.Duke is generally a quiet fellow, though he may occasionally whine when he wants something. He can feel a little anxious when left alone, so he will do best with an adopter who can help him build confidence and learn that alone time is safe. He is also still getting used to city life and may feel a bit unsure around loud or unfamiliar noises.Duke would be happiest as the only pet in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention he deserves. If you are looking for a sweet, slightly goofy, oversized best friend who will happily lean on you, follow his nose on adventures, and remind you to keep the pets coming, Duke might just be your perfect match.Come meet sweet Duke at the West Vancouver branch! Adoption hours are 12 to 3 pm, Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Black Weight: 37.7 Age: 4yrs 0mths 3wks

Story
Merk is a handsome hound with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This sweet guy is looking for a forever home with someone who understands hounds and loves their quirks- especially the musical ones! True to his breed, Merk can be quite the talker and has a lot to say about the world around him. He's quite sensitive to outside stimuli and does get vocal in response. Merk is looking for an experienced dog owner who can help him feel secure and where he can relish in all the attention he needs. A shelter is a tough place for a fella like Merk, everything is a bit much for him at times, and he gets frantic and has a tough time relaxing when his mind is set on something!Although he can be quite excitable at times, Merk does settle down when things are calm and he is able to show off his affectionate and goofy side- giving you kisses every chance he gets! In a home, hes a whole new hound, and deeply enjoys the time he gets to spend with you. He loves to stand and lean against you while receiving butt rubs, and doesnt want you to stop! Merk really enjoys squeaky toys, spiky balls are his favorite, and he will happily run after them and squeak them to his heart's content!Merk is looking for a home that can give him guidance, patience, and love. Who can show him positive reinforcement training and gentle learning encouragement as he enters this newfound world. If you're a hound savvy human who has room in your heart and home for one deserving dog, Merk may be the fella for you! Please feel free to fill out an application if you think Merk would be a good fit!
