Story
Meet Pebbles!Pebbles is an 8-year-old hound with a heart as big as her ears. She is incredibly sweet and loves to cuddle and be pet, making her a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a gentle, affectionate dog. Pebbles enjoys spending time close to her people and soaking up all the love she can get.Pebbles comes from an unstable background, so she will do best with a patient and understanding family who can help her feel safe and confident as she adjusts to new situations. Once she feels comfortable, her loving personality truly shines.True to her hound nature, Pebbles can be vocal at times, which only adds to her charm. With a calm home, consistency, and plenty of affection, Pebbles will make a devoted and loving addition to the right family. She came into our care with her siblings and would enjoy having a canine companion in her new home, provided slow and proper introductions are done to ensure everyone is comfortable. She has a special bond with Bam-Bam and would love to be adopted alongside her if possible, though this is not a requirement.Do you think you could be Pebbles' person? Here is how to find out:1.) Visit our centre to meet this pet during adoption viewings Friday to Wednesday noon to 3pm, learn more about their ideal match, and apply to adopt in person; or2.)Submit an online application adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions an online applicant would have to be available to come in for a meet within 24 hrs.*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters! Story
If you're searching for a loyal adventure buddy to join you on camping trips, long hikes, jogs, or any outdoor escapade-meet Charles, a classic Coonhound with brains, energy, and enthusiasm to spare.Charles is incredibly smart and very much a true working hound. Known for their high-energy nature and remarkable scenting abilities, Coonhounds like Charles need serious daily exercise and mental stimulation. His nose rules his world, and he'll happily follow it on every adventure you're willing to take him on. Lots of practice with recall-especially off leash-will be necessary, and a secure fenced yard is strongly recommended so he can safely explore, play, and track to his heart's content.Like many hounds, Charles is vocal. Very vocal. He loves to "sing the songs of his people," and because of this, he is not suitable for apartment or condo living. He is also not a match for first-time or inexperienced dog owners. This is a true working breed who requires structure, patience, and someone who understands the quirks-and joys-of living with a Coonhound. A home with Coonhound or similar working-breed experience is ideal.Charles enjoys other dogs but needs slow, controlled introductions with calm, dog-neutral companions, as he can get overly excited and, well... sing about it. He's toy-obsessed, people-loving, and full of life. Charles could fit well into a home with older, dog-savvy children, but no young kids, as his enthusiasm can be overwhelming. If you love the hound lifestyle-big voice, big heart, big adventure-Charles might be your perfect trail partner. Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!1. View the animal's profile at adopt.spca.bc.ca 2. Submit an application https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/application-forms/3. If it's a match, staff will contact you to set up an appointment for a meet & greet. 4. Live happily fur-ever after!*Side note: the more you add to your application about you and what you are looking for in a canine companion, the better we can match animals with adopters!PLEASE NOTE: This dog is located on the Sunshine Coast and travel via BC Ferries is required to adopt. Appointments are preferred to adopt one of our animals. Please speak with shelter staff prior to visiting our branch. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Red Brown Weight: 27.1 Age: 0yrs 11mths 1wks

Story
Coco, being a typical hound is a whole lot of dog!She is everywhere all at once and loves her people. She is food motivated, does great with food puzzles and follows her nose.Coco is still learning her manners, so counters are not off-limits to her quite yet. She will do best in an active home, though currently has very little recall and is not to be trusted off-leash.Harness training is in progress, she is strong and she wants to go go go!Coco is not a candidate to live with other dogs, small animals, or cats. She has previously lived with children, though she has yet to learn not to jump up on people, she loves everyone! She is usually seen carrying her stuffy toy to greet her people. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the application linked below.https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/ Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Brindle Weight: 26.6 Age: 2yrs 2mths 0wks

Story
Meet Marvelous Merk! Merk is a handsome hound with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This sweet guy is looking for a forever home with someone who understands hounds and loves their quirks- especially the musical ones! True to his breed, Merk can be quite the talker and has a lot to say about the world around him. He's quite sensitive to outside stimuli and does get vocal in response. Merk could potentially do well with another dog in the home as he has had positive interactions with a few dogs, although he is selective with them and can be a bit much for other dogs. He is looking for an experienced dog owner who can help him feel secure and where he can relish in all the attention he needs. Although he can be quite excitable at times, Merk does settle down when things are calm and he is able to show off his affectionate and goofy side- giving you kisses every chance he gets! He loves to stand and lean against you while receiving butt rubs. Merk really enjoys squeaky toys, spiky balls are his favorite, and he will happily run after them and squeak them to his heart's content!Merk is looking for a home that can give him guidance, patience, and love. Who can show him positive reinforcement training and gentle learning encouragement as he enters this newfound world. If you're a hound savvy human who has room in your heart and home for one deserving dog, Merk may be the fella for you! Please feel free to fill out an application if you think Merk would be a good fit!
