Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sadie is from Texas. She is a 2-year-old beagle/coonhound mix with a medium-sized body, a big personality, and an even bigger heart. She’s sweet, curious, and full of happy energy. If you’re looking for a dog who’s always ready to play, learn, and be part of the action, Sadie might be your girl. She’s friendly with everyone she meets and does well with adults and respectful children ages 10 and up. Sadie has a high-energy, enthusiastic play style, so she’d do best as the only dog or with a sturdy canine friend who can keep up. Smaller dogs and cats likely wouldn’t enjoy her playful intensity. Sadie is potty trained, crate trained, and willingly goes into her crate (especially if treats are involved). She does well in the car, enjoys water, loves fetch and toys, and is always up for an adventure. She’s vocal when there’s outside activity like people at the door and can be chatty during play, which is pretty typical for her hound roots. Smart and treat-motivated, Sadie already knows some basic commands and truly enjoys learning. She’s eager to please, intelligent, and just a little goofy. She’s affectionate and enjoys lap pets, but she also has an independent streak that gives her confidence and charm. Fair warning: she’s an escape artist, so a secure yard and attentive supervision are a must. Sadie was an owner surrender, so she hasn’t experienced the stress of shelter life. She’s simply a young, energetic dog looking for a home that can match her enthusiasm and give her the love, structure, and fun she thrives on. They arrive in Minnesota on 2/20/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
