And, boy let us tell you somethin... we are doggone sweet and BIG and just as soulful as any hound you could meet. We love other dogs and playing outside! But good ole fashioned sunbathing is just about our favorite thing to do! We are all very good natured pups who can't wait to be a family's pride and joy! A hound with a little something extra.. or should we say a big something extra since we have some Pyrenees in us! Ready for our family to come and take us home! Let Love Live rescues animals in Texas and many southern states. We have two locations, our shelter and sanctuary in rural Northeast Texas and our Minnesota foster-based program. If you are interested in meeting a pet, please fill out an adoption application. Once an application is submitted you will be assigned an adoption coordinator and at that time all questions will be answered during the approval process. Please check the spay/neuter status of the pet you are interested in. A $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required on all puppies under 6 months of age. A $25 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required on all unaltered adults. Many of our longer-stay animals have adoption fees ranging from $25-$150. Hi, my name is Jamison! I'm from a shelter in Alabama. Jamison is a sweet, gentle, quiet, brown-eyed, floppy-eared southern belle from Alabama. She is the easiest dog I've ever cared for. She spends most of her day resting quietly in a kennel or dog bed just surveying the scene from the sidelines. She really enjoys our two walks a day because it gives her a chance to use the sniffer she was born to use as a coon hound. Every once in a while, she catches the scent of something exciting and lets out a little hound bellow. It makes me laugh because she's typically so quiet otherwise. She appreciates any cuddles or scratches you have time to share with her but is never insistent or demanding. She gets along with two large male resident dogs and has no interest in taking their toys or chews...but she does like to snoop around their food bowls after they're done eating to see if they left any yummy morsels. She's very respectful on the leash and has a healthy curiosity about people and other dogs but is just as happy to keep on walking. She is crate trained/potty trained but can be trusted to be left out for long periods of time. She and my two resident dogs are left out for up to 10 hours during work days. She could be a great companion for so many people. Whether you live alone, work from home, work long days at the office, have a busy family, she will be at home quietly waiting for whatever time you can share with her. Jamison is truly a loving, easy going, low-maintenance friend. As for her tick borne illness, it has been a non-issue other than giving daily medication. From the vet team: Hello! I arrived at Secondhand Hounds with H. americium, a protozoal infection that occurs when dogs ingest infected Gulf Coast ticks or rodents. Unfortunately, this disease can't be cured but can be managed with treatment (I will be on medication called decoquinate for a total of two years.) I have a dental procedure and bloodwork recheck coming up that will be covered by SHH as long as it occurs at the SHH Vet Center. My future adopter should understand the scope of my medical condition and monitor my care with a primary veterinarian.

He is a sunny, happy guy that will be sure to brighten your days! He was found by a rescue advocate in KY and the poor guy had been shot in the neck! He's approx 2 years old and 45 lbs.  Thankfully the vet was able to help him and he has been healing great and seems to now be in great health. He is fully vetted and ready to move forward in rescue to a foster home here and/or an adoptive home (or a foster to adopt home!)  Wally is the sweetest friend you will find. He absolutely loves everyone and everything. On his walks, he just loves to meet other people and other dogs.
