Story
Meet Duke! We got him today, fully vetted, from a cruelty case that went to court and he was officially awarded to Animal Control after being starved by his owner. He’s been boarding through the ordeal at Karmas Cozy Kennels and they put a lot of weight on him! Duke is 5 and weighs about 60 pounds now. He is happy and healthy are ready for adoption! He gets along with all dogs but he really enjoys small dogs. He rode great in the car, he’s great on a leash, he’s just a really good boy!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.March 27, 2024, 10:51 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  DOB: 11/11/2017 Requires another dog in home: Yes, large dog preferred Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 51.4 lbs Food Fed: Solid Gold Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, needs a fenced yard Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hi I'm Sandra Dee.  I came here from a shelter in Arkansas with my puppies.  We were named after the movie Grease and who doesn't love that movie am I right?  Like Sandy I'm a very sweet girl.  I'm a little shy with people, but I'll tell you a secret.  Food is the way to my heart.  I take treats very gently and while I'm munching on them you can scratch my ears and pet me.  I enjoy chewing on bones and I'm crate trained.  I'd love a home with another dog in it to help me continue to learn to be the bestest dog ever.  I get along with other big dogs just fine and usually ignore smaller ones.  I want to play with my big dog friends, but I'm awkward about it.  You see I'm vocal because I get so excited and that seems to confuse them.  I try being submissive and licking them and they still look at me like I'm a silly girl.  I hope you're doggie won't mind.  I walk pretty well on leash, but would do best if it wasn't in a really busy area.  A fenced yard would be great so I can play, hang out in the sun and learn about love.  I'm kennel trained and potty training is going great. What do you think?  Do we go together?   Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.       ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Duncan, a charming Bluetick Coonhound with a personality as vibrant as his spotted coat! Originally bred as hunting companions in the South, Duncan brings a touch of Southern charm to the North, where these intelligent pups are a rare find. Despite their hunting roots, Bluetick Coonhounds like Duncan excel as loyal companions, bringing joy and laughter to any family lucky enough to welcome them into their homes. With his inquisitive nature and keen sense of smell, Duncan is always on the lookout for new adventures. While he may occasionally get caught up in the excitement of a scent, ensuring he has a secure outdoor area allows him to explore safely, while giving you peace of mind. Although Duncan can be a bit anxious at times, a consistent routine of exercise and mental stimulation helps channel his energy in positive ways. His enthusiasm for morning and evening walks is contagious, making him the perfect motivator to kickstart your day or unwind after a long one. In a household, Duncan thrives as the center of attention, preferring to be the sole furry friend. But fear not, he's not one to pester you for early wake-up calls – Duncan is quite the snoozer and enjoys a leisurely sleep-in. On sunny days, you'll often find him basking in the warmth of the sun or lending a paw in the garden, eager to be your helper. And when the chill of winter sets in, Duncan's affectionate side shines through, seeking warmth and comfort under his favorite blanket. While he may not fit snugly into your lap, Duncan's presence is always felt, especially during movie nights when he eagerly awaits his share of popcorn, proving that even the biggest of dogs have a soft spot for snacks and quality time with their loved ones. Duncan is from a local shelter. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Every day, Amos shows improvement, reflecting his resilience despite a challenging start in the shelter. He eagerly learns commands like sitting and listening, displaying his intelligence and willingness to please. Amos radiates love and playfulness, forming a strong bond with our black lab and enhancing our family dynamic. Here’s Amos saying “ Come on, let’s play!” During our walks, his curiosity shines through, and although he's still learning leash manners, his enthusiasm for exploration is endearing. He maintains a brave demeanor, showing no fear towards household appliances like the vacuum or power tools. Meeting my brother over the weekend was a joyous occasion, as we all instantly connected and enjoyed each other's company, further solidifying Amos's positive impact on our lives and in his future forever home!
