The folks at the shelter described this handsome boy as "our resident clown. This big, goofy boy has a heart as big as his head and a personality that shines on the darkest days. Whether he's zooming after toys or trying to sit on your lap, he's guaranteed to make you laugh. Beneath all the silliness, is a loyal, affectionate pup who just wants to love and be loved." Arthur is 3 years old and seems to be cat tolerant with supervision. He is faintly heartworm positive and is receiving medication. Arthur is about 75 pounds. Maple is a sweet girl who came to us after receiving treatment for heartworm. She has obviously not had an easy life. She was painfully thin, skittish around people, and initially seemed uncomfortable being indoors. But dogs are amazing creatures and it is amazing how much progress she has made in just a few days of being in foster care! She has warmed up to everyone, and will follow her foster mom everywhere. She is very comfortable around the resident dogs and will try to play with them. She is thriving on a routine, good food, calm environment, and lots of love. Maple responded well to her heartworm treatment, and the vet believes she will live a long, healthy life. Hazel has lived with a family her whole life, and when her owner fell ill they dropped her off at a shelter. Hazel is sad and confused. She did not deserve this. She’s such a friendly and affectionate girl who is really missing her home life. Hazel has the personality you’d expect from her breed. She’s a good natured, intelligent girl. She’s playful and walks very well on a leash. Hazel would love an active family that will give her the mental and physical exercise she needs. She will thank you with her loyalty and lots of kisses! Hazel is housebroken and appears to be dog friendly too. Hazel is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. ABOUT WINSTON Winston is a 2-year-old Hound mix who’s looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! He came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Tennessee, where he was found wandering as a stray. Despite being severely underweight, Winston is an incredibly sweet, resilient boy who absolutely loves people. We would love to see him thrive in a foster home, where he can regain his strength and weight! True to his hound nature, his nose is always busy exploring the world around him. He gets along well with other dogs and even cats, making him a great fit for a multi-pet home. Winston would thrive with an active family who can give him plenty of opportunities to sniff, explore, and eventually romp and play, he’d especially love a yard once he’s feeling better. With a little time, care, and good nutrition, Winston is sure to blossom into a happy, energetic companion! **Winston has met children and been friendly, but it is important that adopters with small kids understand Winston's situation before adopting. We believe in full transparency with our adopters, so while he has not displayed any food aggression, we believe if a child was on his level with a snack...Winston would take said snack. Not aggressively, but because he was starved, he is a foodie and gets very, very excited for snacks. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. Lady is being fostered in TX. HI! I am delighted that you are interested in knowing more about me! I am about 3 months old*. My absolute passions are EAT, MOVE and Cuddle! In fact, among my many super pawers is my super sense of smell, so I became highly excited when smelling delicious foods around me! My foster mamma and I are working hard to learn how to harness this super power! My second super power is my high level of energy and my strong curiosity, I guess that makes three super powers, isn’ it? If you don’t give me a job to do, I will find it on my own! So it is very important for me that you become my guiding light. Yet, I also want you to be soft and cuddle with me in quiet times, since I actively look for bonding, reassurance, and safety. I am good with kiddos, but I will prefer kiddos 6+ since I - for now - get excited and might scratch them by accident. Also, I highly benefit from tolerant and playful siblings who can help me balance when the puppyhood zoomies come! Did I tell you that I am already potty trained? YUP!!! I am proudly potty trained. Regarding my eyes, I have Microphthalmia which “is a congenital condition where one or both eyeballs are abnormally small” on my right eye. My foster momma is seeing a little cloudiness on my left eye*, so I am going to visit an eye specialist in mid August. However, I have not presented any issue navigating the house, jumping the stairs, or avoiding any obstacles in the backyard. I am sure my foster momma will update any relevant info after our appointment. Are you ready to love me? * By the time of this writing on July 2nd. BDRA has voted against the use of eletrical fencing effective immediately.
