Story
Looking for a dog to keep you on your toes? Need someone that is a little mischievous? Look no further than Daisy Mae! Daisy Mae is as much hound as they come. Sweet as can be, but will get herself in a little bit of trouble. She can be a little timid with new things but gets over that very quickly. Being a hound she has the hound bay. Sometimes they like to bay (hound bark) just to bay. A hounds personality is loyal, friendly, likes to cuddle, just an all around great dog. However, their nose can get them in trouble.Meet Daisy Mae today! *meetings are with an approved application Adoption Information ~·Hound Mix ·4 years old·Altered ·Microchipped ·Yearly vaccinations completed ·Good with dogs ·Good with kids ·40lbs·A rambunctious walker! Not good with kids,
Story
Jackson is a six-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound whose owner passed away last year. Jackson is a sensitive soul, afraid of new people and nervous in unfamiliar environments, and needs a dog-savvy, patient, loving person to show him that the world isn't such a scary place. Since the death of his person in September 2022, Jackson has been slowly learning to trust. He currently has a circle of four human friends whom he adores but is still skeptical of anyone new. We are working with a fear-free, positive-reinforcement-based behavioral trainer and would ask that any foster/adopter continue with these Zoom sessions (at our expense). Jackson needs a quiet home with no small children. He is afraid of new people (men more than women) but really blossoms around dogs, so a home with a calm, confident dog would be ideal. He is much more comfortable with people if a dog is around. He has not met cats, but he shows absolutely no interest in critters of any kind, so he could likely live with cats with appropriate testing. His ideal foster/adopter would be gentle and patient, letting Jackson go at his pace (that is how he thrives; forcing contact scares him away). He currently lives in the country with a large fenced-in yard, and he loves spending a lot of time outside, but he has visited Chicago and did very well with city sights and sounds. With enough walks and mental enrichment, city living should be fine. However, he does bark/bay a lot, as Coonhounds do, so apartment living might be tough. We understand this is a tall order, but Jackson is a sensitive, fearful dog. If you are the unicorn who can let him come out of his shell at his own pace, who can provide him with the love and security he needs, who can help him conquer his stranger danger, let us know. Jackson's adoption fee is sponsored. In addition, the daughter of his deceased guardian is committed to financially supporting Jackson and has offered to pay for the following: ongoing positive-reinforcement/force-free training ongoing treatment with a board-certified veterinary behaviorist (Insight Animal for Chicago-area folks) Jackson's behavior medicine for life
