Story
Auburn is a 1 yr old Coonhound in need of a forever home. Her previous owner had to relinquish her because she was not getting along with the other dog in the home. We are currently fostering Auburn to help keep her out of a shelter. Auburn is one of the happiest and sweetest dogs. Auburn loves her people and would want to cuddle all day if she could. Auburn also enjoys walks and playing fetch. Auburn is currently in a home with cats and young children and does well.

Story
Marvin is a gorgeous male Coonhound looking for a loving forever home. Pal's Place rescued Marvin from an overburdened animal control facility in rural eastern Kentucky. His long, velvety ears and puppy dog eyes pulled us in, and we knew we had to step in and save this fella! He was a stray, so we don't know much about his past, but he is estimated to be two years old and a Coonhound mix. He weighs in at 55 pounds. Marvin is a very typical Hound; he's pleasant, social, energetic, a bit of a doofus, and the life of the party! Like many young dogs, Marvin can still be jumpy and boisterous in his greetings. We hope to find an active family for him and one that can help him refine his manners. Once he's exercised for the day, he is happy to cuddle up on the couch with his favorite people. He is generally quiet but can be vocal when crated or when excited. Marvin does have the loud, melodious bay that hounds are famous for! Because of this, we are recommending a single-family home environment for him. In a condo or apartment setting, close neighbors may not appreciate his beautiful hound song. Marvin is being fostered in a home with five other dogs and gets along well with his housemates. He is crate trained and does very well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. Marvin is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and started on flea and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee to the rescue is $375. Marvin is being fostered on the far southwest side of Chicago and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved by the rescue. For more information or an application, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com or visit palsplacerescue.org. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying. • Marvin's adoption fee is $375. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare him for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Marvin from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1@hotmail.com for an adoption application, and please put the dog's name in the subject line. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up in there! • All of our dogs are in foster homes are can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1@hotmail.com. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an application until you are prepared to adopt.

Story
Jackson is a six-year-old seemingly purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound whose owner recently passed away. Jackson is a sensitive soul, terrified of the world, and needs a dog-savvy, patient, loving person to help him learn to trust again. Since the death of his person in September 2022, Jackson has been slowly learning to trust. He currently has a circle of four human friends but is still skeptical of anyone new. We are working with a fear-free, positive-reinforcement-based behavioral trainer to teach him that the world is not the terrible place he has been taught and would ask that any foster/adopter continue with these weekly Zoom sessions (at our expense). Jackson needs a home with a woman or women, no children, and no other pets. Ideally, there also would be no men in his home, but at the very least, it should be someone who will keep a distance, giving Jackson all the space he needs. He has become friendly with a few men recently, but it took a lot of patience, and he needed space and time to approach on his own. His ideal foster/adopter would be gentle and patient, letting Jackson go at his pace (that is how he thrives; forcing contact pushes him away). He needs a suburban or, ideally, country home with a large, fenced-in yard (Treeing Walker Coonhounds need lots of outdoor time and space to run and are also excellent climbers). He also barks/bays a lot, as Coonhounds do, which is why the country would be better than even the 'burbs. We understand this is a tall order, but Jackson is incredibly sensitive and terrified of basically everything. If you are the unicorn who can let him come out of his shell at his own pace, who can provide him with the love and security he needs, who has the space for him to get the requisite exercise, let us know.
